Pottery Corset Tankard (hand-built tutorial using Sharon Hoppe Designs - Montana Leather)!

- I received my order from Sharon Hoppe Designs, and Sharon tossed in a few goodies for me to play with. I dived right in and decided to take you with me.
I love figuring out how to get the most out of my pottery tools and textures. So, while I knew that this Montana Leather Design was meant for an adorable tray, I wanted to see what else I could make with the forget-me-not floral tiny timber. As mugs are potters bread and butter, that's where I started. I ended up with a very sassy, corset-style, feminine tankard that I'm going to have a hard time giving up. Man, I love my job!
Check out @sharonhoppedesigns here on UA-cam and on Facebook for more tutorials on how she uses her amazing designs, and stay tuned for what Sharon and I are collaborating on. It's wild!

My heartfelt thanks goes out to Sandra Popek for sending me the butterflies and birdie molds for me to play with and add to my fairyhouses. Thank you so much, Sandra!

I've been glazing like crazy for the last 3 days, and was sick with flu for 10 days before that. So glad I found you in that time. Now I can hardly wait to get making some of these amazing things. What a great teacher and inspiration you are!🙏Thank you so much
@GramaSagefeather Awe thanks! I'm glad you found me.
Tiffinie, it's so cool watching the creative decision making process. While there's much to be said for planning pieces from start to finish, I still greatly enjoy the spontaneous creative process, where we just let the project evolve.
You made a comment about the orientation of the bottom. I typically sign my bottoms (or orient the bottom design) so that when a right handed person is drinking, the design/signature is right side up to the person they are facing. I'd appreciate the thoughts of others on this, as I've just done this from my own reasoning.
I'm excited to see Sharon's channel. Thanks for the tip, I'll look her up!
That's a great idea! Advertising you're business each time someone drinks from your mug. Love it.
I am waiting on mine now and can't wait until it gets here!
Gorgeous view and beautiful tankard
The mug is so cool, i need one !
I love this design.i have it and will be using it more❤❤❤
I love your corset mugs. When other people do them, they just look like pregnant cups, but yours are so beautiful! (The screaming kids sounded like someone had parots nearby!)
I LOVED THIS!!!!!💖
So fun to watch! I need to drive over from American Fork to see your studio.
Yes! Is love to meet you and I'm always willing to show off my studio. Lol.

The mug would also be so adorable glazed in a leather brown with turquoise flowers on the handle.

Oh and I can’t wait for you to do the slipcasting!! I started out slipcasting back in the 90’s and was hooked the first time I saw it done!! Molds can be sooo addicting though. Lol. Have fun with it.

Loved loved loved your video… I hope you don’t become another tool salesperson though 🥲! You have been so refreshing . I could depend on watching your videos and just becoming inspired about clay and not having to buy a bunch of stuff. 💕 Thanks for being you !
Creativity is the best tool, but I do know with teaching, tools can be a great jumping off point. I also love to think out of the box and use tools in multiple ways.
I love the mug!!!!
Stunning! ❤️
Hallöchen, so eine schöne Arbeit und mit sooo viel Liebe gestaltet 💓 LG aus Deutschland 🤗 und eine schöne Adventszeit 🎄🎅

Thank you so very much for the Super Thanks!
Superbe! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I love the view from your studio!
Hope you realize how lucky you are to have a great husband who built the studio and the amazing views of God creations ❤
I do! I also feel like I paid my dues with all the decades in dirty, cold garages and dank, dark basements. 😀
Learned so much. I was wondering if stamps you use on paper would work?
Are you talking like the rubber stamps? I have a few that do, but they can't be too detailed. At least, that's what I've found.
So beautiful!! Inspired by you I was so naughty, Just blew the budget at Sharon Hoppe Designs.... I would have purchased even more but international shipping is a killer..... don't suppose you are coming to Australia any time soon and I can hijack one of your suitcases for pottery supplies 🤣🤣🤣. PS hope its now clear sailing with hubby. PPS Those KIDS!! lol they are either having heaps of fun or murdering one another, by the sounds.
Lol, it's so easy being naughty and blowing the budget. Yes, those kids were driving me crazy. The family below me has 8 kids! And they weren't playing nice. It's my dream to make it down under someday. My daughter has been and loves to rub it in.
Amazing, beautiful mug and your dish is stunning. The 6x12 is that your tankard size
Yes, my tankard and small hand-built pitcher size.
Thank you
I love the dart look. I'll have to give it a try.
@@heididerksen8227 Darts were a game changer for me with handbuilding.
❤
Yeah but $80 for the stamp set. When are the sales coming?
Tiffany, where did you get your pottery stamp made?
I'm a centameter girl📏
Me too but I watch so many US pottery programs I now work in pounds and grams/kg Inches and Cm's 💗
