    Good job Edelbrock. Filling in the void that will be left when Holley goes full EFI.

    After playing with old school double pumpers on a tunnel ram and street driving it, I see so much about these that are just awesome. With a O2 sensor and some thinking involved, these are going to be unbeatable. I am tickled I haven't bought a Carburetor for my simple old school dual point big cammed 460 project as they just made the sale.

    I just picked up a new 1307 (750). Very nice carb, Very smooth power compared to the double-pumper its replacing, I attribute that to the very nicely done Annular Boosters. The only thing that was way off was the transition, it went from idle 13.0AFR to 15AFR, causing the motor to cough and stumble until the primary booster came in. I had to change the idle bleed from a 70 all the way down to a 42. I also tried a 36 IFR (from the stock 31), which basically had the same affect with the standard 70 idle bleed jet. I also changed the standard 4.5 Power Valve to a 8.5. The engine (445 Ford FE Stroker, Edelbrock Al Heads, RPM Performer, Comp Cam (230/236@.050, .530 lift) pulls clean and hard thru the power band at 12.5AFR, but at light load (cruise) it is pig rich at 10.5. I'm not sure what dial to turn to lean 'cruise' out? I've called Edelbrock Support twice with them telling me they have no literature on these carbs, so they have no idea what to do. This is pretty concerning and disappointing. Edelbrock? Anyone who has knowledge? Advise would be greatly appreciated.

      Try a bigger carb? 750 CFM sounds too small for a 440 CID motor.

      I went with a Quick Fuel 750 w/annular boosters. The same issue was there with the low rpm transition to the booster, what cleaned it up was changing the high speed air bleed from the stock 33 it came with, to a 38. A bit counterintuitive, I would of thought the low speed bleed would of affected that part of the curve, but not true. After looking at other big block jetting, it seems guys are running 40 or above for the high speed air bleed, so my finding seems correct. You could try this setting on the Edelbrock. I'm happy with the Quick Fuel, but it is expensive at $1100.

    Like was already commented there a lot of jets.....as cool as the carb is I'm a little concerned if or how much the carb has to be tuned for mild build street use....aka the 650 on a 428 Ford.....simple adjustments no big deal but would or could these adjustments open sorta Pandora's box to all those jet adjustments.....

    • @vinnylc
      @vinnylc 2 роки тому

      yes very easily, but you need to change the bleeds accordingly and add vent tube extensions for the idle signal to be stable

  • @johngossert3908

    Looks great, but most people including Racers, can’t adjust a regular Holley correctly!
    Wait until they start monkeying with this piece! Lol

    • @vinnylc

      I know, when im at the track i cringe seeing people change main jets for WOT, thats power valve jets 101

    • @mickangio16
      @mickangio16 2 роки тому +1

      But most Holley carbs don't have replaceable power valve restrictions. My complaint with Holley is that ALL Holley carburetors SHOULD have replaceable power valve channel restrictions AND replaceable idle feed restrictions. The additional 1/2" height of the Edelbrock is a drawback to me and I'd like to see a version with an electric choke with an easier to access fast idle speed adjustment than the Holleys and adjustable choke pull off. Holley needs to step up their game fer sure- especially for what they cost$$$.

  • @Lagrange1186
    @Lagrange1186 2 роки тому

    I think the only thing not built into this from the start was capabilities for blow thru applications. But wow I can’t wait to see how this does on independent dyno testing. What’s the price point on this?

    • @vinnylc
      @vinnylc 2 роки тому +1

      with basic mods this has no problem as a blow through.it already has dual fuel inlets per bowl and brass bleeds through the carb to allow custom sizes for tuning. just add some vent tube extensions, with the annular boosters this comes with it should be able to keep up no problem, dog leg and straight leg boosters no so much but this should be fine.

  • @vinnylc
    @vinnylc 2 роки тому +4

    wow at first i thought it was a ripoff Holley and it kinda is but this looks really nice. this is basically a modified Holley with all the tricks you would have to buy separately but with the Eddy its standard. if you really know how to tune a carb this is a one stop shop purchase. the fact that you can change Boosters on the fly without sending it to a carb specialist because of the required tools to press them in and out properly, this makes it more user friendly than the Holley. They really did their homework on this and im waiting for it to come available so i can by one for my BBC. the ONE thing i wish they would have redesigned is the way jets have to be changed, the need to take off the fuel bowl and swap jets with the risk of leaks is not only a pain in the ass but can be a danger at the track when making changes. Maybe drill 2 holes in the fuel bowl with plugs so you can stick a jet tool with a magnet inside without removing the bowls and breaking seals???? but I this is still a nice product and cant wait for mine.
    And for the people asking about Blow through Applications yes this will work you just need to make sure the jets and bleeds are calibrated correctly and add vent tube extensions to the top tubes and you can run boost. Thats all that really separates a standard race Holley from a blow through. You can even run this on Alky if you want to do the math and make custom bleeds and jets.

      I just a video the carburator starts very good on cold weather. I'm going to buy this one I was tempted to convert my 540 big block to EFI but I have friends with those systems they are coming back to carburator. This one in particular. Holley will stop making carburator they will concentrate on EFI 😢😢😢

    • @f430ferrari5
      @f430ferrari5 2 роки тому +3

      Unfortunately for Holley they made various acquisitions at the wrong time. They bought Hooker Headers, Weiand, Flowmaster, MSD, etc pre 2008.
      Holley filed for Bankruptcy in 2008.
      Many of the SEMA companies are struggling along. This industry could open back up more of emission controls were lightened up.
      Any car 30 years or older should be smog exempt. Maybe even 20 years for limited production models.
      Waivers should be available if you drive less than 500 miles per year.

    • @chrissybert6543

      There will be no more production of carb applications from holley. I have been trying to find a split plane race manifold for carb for a ls3. Can't get it, they are not making it anymore even though they are still for sale in jegs and all the big parts salers.
