Sweet Pack Too Man
Gotta pace yourself, Dave. Don't ever apologize for being busy! Busy, leads to success, or in your case continuing success! Always good to see your videos. I appreciate the time you take, and the skills you share.
Apparently the ultralight backpacking craze has not phased Dave in the least.
I'm starting to teach my kids the basics while I learn too. Primitive skills may be primitive, but they're not easy. Thanks.
always enjoy seeing what people carry into the woods.
Don't sweat it man, you have provided us plenty of video's that we can and should go back and study again. Don't worry about not providing a new video every day. Any true fan would understand that you have a ton of other things going on, and appreciate the hard work you do to set up, film, edit, post these awesome video's for us to enjoy. Hope your filming season 2 of DRS, really enjoyed that venture. Be well Dave and have some Lefsa for me!
I miss this series, may go back and watch them again.
Hell Ya.............Shout Out, Thank you Sir
Nice set up. I like the idea of the tall wax canvas bag holding the tins of food. I'm going to your web site to look at those items. Thank you.
No worries about the uploads Dave. Much love & respect brother!
Hi Dave, really enjoy the videos. I do a lot of multi-day hikes in Australia in four seasons in most environments. I use a three- or four-season one-person tent, inflatable mat and season specific sleeping bag and reckon they take up less room in a pack that the tarp, ground sheet and blanket you usually carry (as well as less weight). Really makes me appreciate how much easier modern trekking is compared to what the US and Australian pioneers and explorers endured. Again, thanks for the great videos.
+Matthew Broad Modern gear is awesome, but only the most expensive will last in rough conditions, cheap wool blankets still work great and last a lifetime, tarps of canvas are inexpensive but add weight, my buddy says if you are worried about 5 lbs in you pack, loose 5 lbs and carry what you want
It's really nice to see you in action still Dave. I, and I'm sure everyone else, really appreciate all the time and effort you put into your videos. They are extremely informative and in depth. Keep up the good work and you might get this city boy out in the sticks.
Great demonstration of your scout kit Dave. Thanks for sharing it.
What I find interesting is those little tins with your food inside. You said it was good for 4 or 5 days. It doesn't look like enough for 5 days but maybe that is because I am 240 lb. I know you have made videos on medals like your hobo stew. Maybe when you get some time, i know you are busy, you can show making breakfast, lunch and dinner from just what is in those tins. Have a good time in Sweden. Bruce from the city of Orange in Orange county California.
VERY helpful, thanks Dave! I just watched and took notes. I also have a Swiss pack like yours. Am going to set it up as you have laid out, thought about adding the cupulko cup and spoon and perhaps some spices to the food sleeve bag.
Hi Dave, thank you so much for sharing your ideas and skills on trekking and tramping. I love your videos and how you have me looking at multi-purposing. One idea on this kit, instead of the gun blanket why not use a German military poncho for wet weather and since it's also rubberized canvas and can also serve as a ground cloth and an emergency shelter.
Interesting video. It reminds me how I take way to much gear for a weekend trip. I have to learn to camp without a tent. I hope that maybe this season I can sleep out in the woods at least one night without my tent!
Great video Dave! Very interesting and good ideas for a pack. Thanks!
Just received six of your tins. Great must have items! Now just waiting for you to have the sacks available.
One of the best videos you've put out in a very long time... quite please.
I love your videos on the traditional stuff! I guess that includes most of your videos... :)
Thanks - Martin
I really like the food tins and canvas sleeve. Great idea!
love this series dave....thanx so much
Nice loadout Dave. Thanks
I realize that you probably hate when people point out things in your video's, yet I have taken to heart your insistence that you always need the 11th C that should always be included in all over night excursions, Clean Socks! I know that you always insist that you change socks at the end of the day and I can attest that clean, dry socks do help make the evening better. Thanks for the series and videos. Cast Iron Kid
Sweet load out Dave... very woodcrafty.
Great video, I have an old boy scout pack from the 50 or 60, but I like that one better. My hiking buddies give me a hard time because when we go base camping all my gear is older wood craft type gear and when we go back packing for over on day I carry all modern light stuff. well all but my bush pot. You guys must have better flea markets than we do hear in Atlanta I can never find any good stuff like you get. Thanks as always great video.
A good pack video .... Just never gets old.
You provide more information about woodcraft and camping did anybody else on the platform and as always hearing something informative once is not enough you need to use repetition there are thousands of videos out there that we can watch while you are out having fun and enjoying your life and gaining more experience to them share with us that we will be okay.
I like ordering from the pathfinder store. Easy and fast. Good business Dave keep it up.
cool. watching a great wildernesoutfitters video and when your done. Surprise a new great video. I like backpack packing videos. Never thought of stuffing my blankets like that probably more efficient.
I could watch your vids ALL DAY
Very cool Dave!
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing...
great video. Thanks
I like the tin food containers, critter proof. Very nice, I'm going to try this next time I go backpacking. The mice on the Appalachian trail are awful.
Great food tip 🤗I just found a great solution 👍
As always awesome
Do you Dave! We'll be here brother.
Welcome to Sweden mr Canterbury. Dont know if you been here before, if not Im sure you gonna love it.
Were you going?
Keep up your good hard work and post on youtube its needed.
/>Bowman
Proper old school there Dave, the fur trapper era, HBC and Mountain man living is where my head is at, my wife says I was born 200 yrs too late haha, I would love to do a Mountain man Rendezvous one day, minimal carry, knowledge is the key to survival, I like your Hudson Bay axe, enjoy your trip to Sweden, iff you stop off in ol Blighty on your way look me up and I'll travel with you, cheers bud, atb, Paul.
Thank you
Great vid, I have to show this to the Scouts You should see what we find in their packs for just an overnighter. (But I bet you are aware of this also) All is fun .......
Would you be able to do a video detailing the wood working bench in the wall tent camp site? Maybe even a project using the bench? :)
Take us on a trek Dave!....
Love those oilcloth sacks!
you can take a flexible cutting mat and roll it around the canisters inside the cavas sleeve
Where when, and why are you coming to Sweden? Would be awesome to meet the man who taught me most of my knowledge in person!
I have been using the same pack for a few months now, brilliant piece of kit :) Mine was in a little bit rougher shape, worn down corners of the canvas lid and some straps needed to replace. BUT anyways :)
I am curious, how It comes that I never see you pack any piece of clothing in the bag? Of course, most of my clothing is on my person, but while on the trail, I dont want any warm layers but when I stop, or the day is ending and it gets chilly, I always appreciate an extra warm layer. Or some kind of waterproofs when starts an unexpected rain..
Thanks for your response! All the best.
you were mentioned at number 6 in the top ten UA-cam survival channels
Great video. You know better than me, but I always have at least an extra pain of socks 2 if poss. Thanks for the info
Hey Dave love the videos I have watched countless hours of skills and gear videos was wondering when you go out what do you carry for first aid/ trama type gear?
Good to see you back! I just came across one of these packs this weekend, for $25 bucks I couldn't pass it up! mine is the ruberized canvas.
+[NC] Ebola local flea market

Another Dandy Video, Dave! Thanks a ton!!! Wondering, is the food bag the same one that comes with the forged tent stakes?
I REALLY hope you do something on survival and hunt/fish in Sweden :D
You should come to Scotland dave
I have to weigh my gear. I use an old A.L.I.C.E. pack from Vietnam. I bet I could loose a few pounds by removing the frame. the only thing i would swap out is the swiss army knife for a multi tool.
where are the tent stakes to secure the tarp? do you make them at camp or are the plastic ones tucked away somewhere ... love the videos and the lessons! thanks for taking the time to show us!!
Thanks for sharing your pack with us. I did not see the canvas bag you used for your food tins on your website. Will it be added soon or am i looking in the wrong spot?
Can you cover survival in colder climates? I live/hunt in alaska, where it gets pretty cold.
Dave, I noticed you carry your knife on the right side and I know you are left handed like myself. I typically will carry on the right side if I am carrying my firearm but what is your reasoning? Just curious.
+Living Survival You answered you own question brother
***** Figured ;)
I have a suggestion for a future video that I would be interested in seeing and I'm sure some of the other folks might enjoy.
Trail tested and Cantebury prefered Pathfinder clothing.
aside from the obvious tshirts, what types of pants, boots, hats have you found that stand the test of time doing your thing in the world of woodcraft? Are there brands you find bulletproof? Are there any particular items that you find really help you "smooth it"?
I find I prefer lightweight hiking boots like Keen made in USA due to busted knees and hips. I have a trusty 1940s era Pendleton outback or fedora style crushable wool felt hat that I find most useful for blocking the sun, keeping rain off my glasses, and keeping ticks out of my hair.
What styles and brands of trail, scout, and camp attire you find best would be a neat video.
Thanks for your time.
You're coming to Sweden? Sweet.. need a guide?Any projects with morakniv in the works?
Nice job on the fat wood aspect
awesome! how you dry your food? or video adaut it how to dry old way in tent?
nice junk I'll come by your place on pick up day lol s.a.k is that a rucksack model or the smaller one farmer I think its called has a bailing hook on it ? well have fun Dave iqts rained for a week straight here in PA .atb tom
Dave the bag you put the food tin in is that the same bag that you put the saw in on the wax bag vidio
You are not kidding about that pack being bullet proof. Is your trip to Sweden for fun, business or both ? Which ever have a good time and maybe you could share some photos or video with us :)
No med kit?
hey Dave I own your first two books and I love then I just have a question about this video, what knife did you have on your belt?
hey dave can you point me in the direction of some cheap wall tents i dont really want anything fancy i donmt really plan on using one to much but i like thee much more than regular camping tents so if i could find a cheap on to replace mine that would be cool
10 times better than livin in a van down by the river
I noticed the western canteen behind you. I have found them in aluminum. Do you know if that style can be made in stainless steel?
No sound! best wishes M. thumbs up!
Hah! I was going to ask about spare clothes/toothbrush but you already answered at the end of the video and in the comments here. Surprised you're packing so few clothes though for a 4 day outing.
+fuyutenshi You really don't need that much brother if you are careful
I forget, is that wall tent made by tentsmiths? I know you recommend them highly and that they sell one.
I know someone just asked about clothes, but I'm curious.... It seems I always pack too much in the form of clothes even though it's only one full dry pair in case I get soaked. I'll pack one pair of socks more than I need. Seems even the one pair of extras take quite a chunk out of my bag space. What conditions/days of being out would make you take an extra pair of clothing? I usually have to sacrifice something relatively important for extra clothing space.
Good info on the 35lb back pack, but bacon is the last resort if I had the choice. You dont know what you might catch with that stuff. There are much better alternatives for protein and/or calories in other meats.
I have 2 Swiss packs that look remarkably like yours.
Is that material rubberised? Mine are a standard 5 night packs but, given their durability, I could really load on tools for a runoff bushcraft extravaganza.
Dave speaking of trip what do you pack qhen you travel especially fly with airport security? i by no means am asking how to get a knife on a plane but how do you pack to be prepared?
Will you be offering that sleeve and the tins as a kit on your store website? If not which bag is it specifically?
i like that pack
where and when are you going to Sweden
Hey Dave, im not seeing the tins or tall bag on the website. Has it not been released yet or could you possibly post a link?
your coming here to Sweden?
where are you going?
1?
hey Dave where can I find that rubberized canvas at please?
Why do you tape the food tin's? Do they come apart easy?
would you say that soap is not needed on this type of scout, or is it included in "toothbrush"?
The pack does not have a lombar belt or a chest strap. Woludn't it be more confortable with a lombar belt? If you decided to make one How would you do it?
do you like staying in the wall tent better than the yurt ?
does the 35lbs include your firearms or just the packout itself?
How much does your swiss pack cost and where's the best place to find a reasonablely priced one?? Also don't worry about videos. You might want to think about doing small vlogs about 5 minutes long if you have the time, but if not, we can wait weeks. Take care of yourself first. Have fun in Sweden!
Hey, really enjoy all of your videos, I was wondering, do you offer that waxed canvas food bag on your website?
+WoodsyTech We have the tins now, bags are coming soon
+wildernessoutfitters Thanks!
dave i dont know if you read these comments but what would that load out cost.
i would pay 500 for that whole bag bacon included
Why do you choose to stuff the blanket instead of rolling it up? One would think it would be more space efficient to roll it, wouldn't it?
:D Your always good in book. ALWAYS #take #the #time is what I say. #If #only #2 #be TRULY on a state of mind for when the skills of life are needed. rest assure it will always be teaching. what a beautiful packbug
Hey Dave, just wondering why these other wall tent videos aren't being added to the wisdom of the wall tent playlist. Take care.
+Doing It Better Got it sorry bro
+wildernessoutfitters No problem good sir. Keep being you and inspiring us.
Love your vids. What model SAK is that? It looks alot like my Hunter SAK but without the stag emblem on it.
+Kenneth McCluskey Believe it's a Victorinox RangerWood 55
I know this isn't an important question but just curious what knife did you have on your hip in this video. Thanks for all your videos long time follower !
+Matt Urioste JW Big River, New knife to our line so I have been testing it
