Avaxtakaka - 100% YOU'VE GOT THAT RIGHT!!! RIGHT ON THE MARK!!! Karen Carpenter's had a voice, talent, NEVER, again to be duplicated, FOR CERTAIN!!!!! ... Karen, The Carpenters, Gone, Way to soon!!! 😐😑😒🥴😵🧐😕😟😌😔😥😢😣😞😓😭
From the standpoint of being one of the writers of this song, it's a strange but gratifying feeling to read everyone's comments. This recording captured my vision for the song. From a soft, lonely cantabile opening, the Carpenters' version progresses like a flower, first a bud then building to a glorious bloom. I am so thankful to the Carpenters for blessing my song with their extraordinary talent.
You should know that decades later…. here in 2023….. your beautiful song still lives in the hearts and minds of so many of us who loved Karen, and Anne Murray as well !
I've always wondered how a person can write a song, let alone a great song..to capture out of the air what most of us are feeling and be able to put it into words and notes. Fascinating art form.
A very nice and inspirational song that definitely touched the hearts of everyone who listens to it. Thank you for the wonderful song. A great song to last more decades to come. ❤️❤️❤️
Karen's voice is silky soft and smooth, no edgy sound, not rough and in full control... as if she was just singing another lullaby and makes you float in the air. Soothing and relaxing but of course, soulful and describing various emotions in each of every song she sung!
During 1971 & prior, she sang with an "edginess" at times; the right times. In my opinion , whomever "softened" her down thoroughly was wrong. That character have her songs more dynamics 😎
I love the 70s I loved Karen Carpenter. She was.a good singer I.had all her records I seed the Carpenters. BA k in 1973. I.was.22 years.old they was.so.good.it is.sad.about what.happen.to her.I.know.Richard.misses her. VA.
Yes! I want the 70's back! I grew up in the 60's and 70's and just love the 70's pop music and t.v. shows.Living was alot simpler for sure.I like technology but sometimes I want to just go back to pen & paper.Lol! Love Karen and Richard since day one.
Yes, me too, your absolutely right, Wish God would bring back the 70 s. Life was so much simpler and better when America was real and traditional. I loved Karen Carpenter. How sad and Tragic that We lost her so Young and Talented. Such a Tragedy. I'll always remember her and her music. Rest in Peace Karen and May Your Memory and music live on forever.
Feb. 4, 1983, 37 years ago today, we lost this priceless treasure! Certainly one of the days that the music died. So grateful to have these recordings. RIP, Karen! You are truly loved!
when Karen sings..she soothes your soul....very calm and so relaxing! I grew up with her songs during the 70's..memorizing every lyrics! I'll never get tired listening to her songs!
Me too! I grew up in the 60's & 70's.How she could stand out above everyone else is amazing! There was so much talent out there in the 70's but Karen and Richard were to me the most talented artist out there.
We, the people of the world, are the lucky ones....so many of us who never knew Karen, have been given the gift of her beautiful voice. Her flawless and gentle melodies and pitch perfect sound, will never fade, her voice and music live on throughout the decades, and many who are too young to remember, are now finding her and being mesmerized by Karen's gentle manner, and music. RIP beautiful lady, you will never be forgotten
I do love Karen for sure. But you've really got to listen to Anne Murray's delivery of the same song. She has a way to be sexy and romantic at the same time.
Best singer of all time. She has such a very deep, full, beautiful voice that sweetens the song she sings. She gives such emotion and interpretation that makes the song sound so unbelievably beautiful and unforgettable. It touches your heart. Also love the song's arrangement, sounds really great.
I disagree. Anne's more serious treatment made this song a big hit....when Karen and Dusty Springfield could not. As the 70's rolled on Karen's singing and Richard's arrangements were becoming far too syrupy and over-processed....Too many instruments doing too much pop-glop. If you disagree....you haven't heard Murray sing "Broken-Hearted Me"...or the LIVE version of I Just Fall In Love Again.....with almost 30,000,000 views. Those numbers don't lie as to who people prefer on this song.
Karen had the voice of an angel and sang with emotion which you do not often hear. This was a fabulous version of this song. The later versions by Anne Murray & Dusty Springfield, which whilst being good, cannot reach this level of perfection.
I'm always crying when listening to this, my sister's always singing this song when she's here in PH, I miss her so much! :( she lives in Japan. I hope this pandemic will soon end for us family to be complete again.
It is an amazing feeling to find the love of your life. I have been blessed with a wife that for the last 15 years I fall in love with her again each day. I love this song as it puts into words what it truly is to fall in love and only fall deeper each day. Her voice will never be eclipsed. Rest in true peace Karen, I for one truly miss you.
Sadly, I believe that all the hurt she carried inside gave her voice the quality that reached in and touched our hearts and made her songs so personal to us. I love you, Karen, always and forever.
karen is gone now but her voice and beauty will live on forever, her sound is unique and never to be copied, no other singer has a voice that comes remotely close to karens, R I P special angel, love you, xxx.

@@tracypaxton1054 It was too long for radio play. RC's touch was frequently on the money but he messed up on this one. It still amazes me that she didn't even wanna be in the spotlight. She was/is so beautiful and had an amazing voice. I'm grateful to hear these
Karen Carpenter had the voice of an Angel. I cry when I hear her sing some of these songs.
I don't listen to the Carpenters, I experience their music.
Still listening this song after all these years.... Thank you Karen Carpenter... We´ll never forget you
Yes! Karen made this song beautiful. As they say" How can we forget someone who gave us so much to remember!"
The Carpenters were crazy great! Guitarist Tony Peluso once again nails a fantastic solo...
Her voice is like no other. How sad to see her with John Denver. Both so talented and both lost way too young. RIP
+tlccar1 That hit me too. Two wonderful voices and sweet people. Why oh why...
Her singing is other worldly. "...you're my idea of an angel singing the Ave Maria"
There will never be another voice like hers!
Her voice is a once in a lifetime.
The best version of the three who sang this song.
Best singer of all time. She has such a very deep, full, beautiful voice that sweetens the song she sings. She gives such emotion and interpretation that makes the song sound so unbelievably beautiful and unforgettable. It touches your heart. Also love the song's arrangement, sounds really great.
What does perfection sound like, Karen Carpenter.. She lives in the songs, and videos, and memories of the past.. She lives forever.
Karen Carpenter is the best voice I've heard.
I bought "Passage" in 1978! Still is one of my favorits!
I never heard her version of this song and, as much as I like Anne Murray's, you cannot beat Karen's beautiful voice!

This is by far my favourite Carpenters song ever. It could melt your heart.

the voice that never dies... and is still here so many years later :)
why wasn't this released as a single?! I think it would have been a #1 smash! so beautiful.
Karen's voice and songs brings your soul to an upper stadium of spirituality (love.....and sensibility and ......)
Amen!
that is how to sing that beautiful song... simple yet heart felt rendition... karen's voice is GOLDEN.
She was THE greatest!
Sadly, I believe that all the hurt she carried inside gave her voice the quality that reached in and touched our hearts and made her songs so personal to us. I love you, Karen, always and forever.
