From the standpoint of being one of the writers of this song, it's a strange but gratifying feeling to read everyone's comments. This recording captured my vision for the song. From a soft, lonely cantabile opening, the Carpenters' version progresses like a flower, first a bud then building to a glorious bloom. I am so thankful to the Carpenters for blessing my song with their extraordinary talent.

Karen's voice is silky soft and smooth, no edgy sound, not rough and in full control... as if she was just singing another lullaby and makes you float in the air. Soothing and relaxing but of course, soulful and describing various emotions in each of every song she sung!

During 1971 & prior, she sang with an "edginess" at times; the right times. In my opinion , whomever "softened" her down thoroughly was wrong. That character have her songs more dynamics 😎

I disagree. Anne's more serious treatment made this song a big hit....when Karen and Dusty Springfield could not. As the 70's rolled on Karen's singing and Richard's arrangements were becoming far too syrupy and over-processed....Too many instruments doing too much pop-glop. If you disagree....you haven't heard Murray sing "Broken-Hearted Me"...or the LIVE version of I Just Fall In Love Again.....with almost 30,000,000 views. Those numbers don't lie as to who people prefer on this song.

      @commonwombat9171 5 років тому +11

@@tracypaxton1054 It was too long for radio play. RC's touch was frequently on the money but he messed up on this one. The orchestra and chorus make it sound overblown in comparison to Murray's and Tony Peluso's fuzz guitar solo (much as I like it) just added to things being "dragged out". The arrangement on Murray's version hit a far better "balance" whereas this is more than a little bit grandiloquent. KC's vocal is superb, as was Murray's, but a "less is more" arrangement might have seen this released as a single.

I was only 11 years old when Karen Carpenter passed away I didn't know her music at the time cause I was young. But in March of this year I had watched a movie on her life and I got hooked on her music and ever since March I been listening to the Carpenters music and I love it. RIP Karen Carpenter I know you are singing up there in heaven you are probably putting on your own concert. 1950-1983 you are missed by many

Simply beautiful. Karen Carpenter, Anne Murray, Dolly Parton and Crystal Gayle are among the giants of their time who I grew up with listening on the radio. My mom loved them all, too.

"I Just Fall In Love Again"
    Dreaming, I must be dreaming
Or am I really lying here with you?
Baby, you take me in your arms
And though I'm wide awake, I know my dream is coming true
And, oh, I just fall in love again
Just one touch and then it happens every time
There I go, I just fall in love again and when I do
I can't help myself, I fall in love with you
    Magic, it must be magic
The way I hold you and the night just seems to fly
Easy for you to take me to a star
Heaven is that moment when I look into your eyes
And, oh, I just fall in love again
Just one touch and then it happens every time
There I go, I just fall in love again and when I do
I can't help myself, I fall in love with you
I can't help myself, I fall in love with you
