Glad to see more accurate videos like this. I cannot stand to see people say their "stock" sport quad went 80-100+ miles per hour. 74-76 is about average for most big bore sport quads, the 450's usually top out in the low 70's because they are geared more for fast acceleration than topspeed.
With the stock 38/14 sprockets, a 20" tire, and stock 10,700RPM rev limiter, the top speed is 81mph. I have no idea if the stock tune pulls timing to prevent you really airing out 5th gear. I put a yoshimura PIM2 and JE284685 piston in my bike during a rebuild. With the PIM2, the top speed definitely felt better. The rest of the time, you couldn't really tell. With a 36 tooth sprocket and a 22" tire, it's 94mph. If you're really interested in doing long top speed runs, this would be the combination to get, in order to keep the bike off the rev limiter. --Most of the dyno charts for these Peak between 8900 and 10,000 RPM. Aerodynamic drag for the bike says about 81mph is a good goal.
@@KilroyMotorSports what gearing do you have if I may ask I have a t-Rex 510 kit on mine and still trying to mess with the sprockets to get more top speed
i was going about 60 on my yfz 450, blew up and locked up the tires, thankfully i pulled the clutch in right away and only skidded a little bit, turned my pants brown thats for sure!
I know a 58HP 13f 38r on 22 inch paddle tires in the sand can go 86 mph with more to go. Raced a new canam and a polaris RS1 pulled on both of them had 2 speedo checks.
Adjust the tie rods out a bit (zero the toe-in and maybe give it a slight toe-out) and it won't be so squirrelly on the road at high speed. Use a tape measure to make sure it's even across both tires. Adjust it back in before you hit the trails.
Cool thanks Jason, when you look at the front wheels head on they look like they need to be adjusted. I've just never messed with it cause I don't feel it anywhere other than than the road.
Shit my big sportsman ramps up to 82 miles per hour, in a heart beat.. 72 hp.. but I do like the Yamaha 450s for a smaller sport machine.. I rolled my fat ass ploaris could not get it off me... heavy machines are dangerous just to be fair..
Hi man my quad just searches trail or lines when i go over 50 to a point where it’s almost dangerous. Do you have the same only the vid doesnt show? Or do you have any tips? Thnx in advance
Josh Thomas have any great recommendations for a new four wheeler, has to be a 400cc and I’m thinking about a 2013 Honda 400x, but have any better recommendations for me. I’m 11 and I’m 5’5
What's up man, have you been on a ATV before? Honda is nice, they make nice quads. A 400 has some power so if its your first quad you need to be careful. Also you should think about getting a Honda 250 because it doesn't have a clutch handle, you still have to switch gears but you wouldn't have to pull the clutch in to do so. I was 17 when I got my Honda 250ex. It was my first quad and it taught me how to ride. If I were you I would get the 250 1st then when you get more experience you can jump up to a 400 or 450. Thanks for watching the channel 🤜 take care bro.
Yea its stock. When I bought it it had a aftermarket one but it was too loud for where I ride it so I swapped it for a stock pipe. Thanks for watching bro🤜
I think a Honda 250 would be nice. A 450cc quad might be a little too much but I'm not sure, they might be able to handle it. I would have died young if I started with a 450. I flipped my 250 honda plenty of times. Whatever you get they will love and will make some awesome memories with it.
How weird... I hit 74.. then again I don’t let off or try to shift when I’m already in 5th... stop loosing your torque that’s why you never hit top end fast...
Hahaha when im going on 5th i keep on going and trying to switch to next gear thinking it has another gear😆… but not going to lie it feels like the engine still has more power💪🏽

I clocked mine at 82mph all I got on it that I know of is a competition series hmf with programmer maybe it’s got more shit idk tho
That’s very helpful
That was awesome! thank you for posting! working on a 450 right now.

Get a monster pipe intake and programmer then try again 💯💪🏽
How much would that be?
I think I could have gone faster but I backed off the throttle too soon
Josh Thomas with full exhaust for all three should be like 1k but you’ll notice a huge difference 💯
Josh Thomas if anything do a dasa shorty. They push about 6.5hp alone

i was thinking about 80 mph, suprised like the driver there was not another gear to go

no
A YZ450F will smoke that thing. They go 90-100MPH stock and with lower gearing they will go even faster

Josh Thomas I’m 13 and just got a Yamaha YFZ 450 last December. It’s super fun to ride and I can control the power!
Whats the app your using to see your speed on your phone?
It was a speedometer app, I don't remember the name tho
Look up speedometer in the app store, it's free
Bought it brand new broke it in rode it twice around the yard wasn’t for me barely used for sale😂😂😂😂

I bet that thing has mad torque
I would lower that tire pressure
Just looks super bouncy on the trail

There’s no way it’s just 60 something mph my 06 vibrates when it gets over 70
It was 69 according to the GPS on my phone but I did another video using the GPS on my GoPro and hit 71.

I just got an 06 and it has a govenor any way to bypass it?
I tried again and hit 71. The GPS on the GoPro loses signal if you drive under anything and i was by some trees.
I hope you warned it up 😭
