There is a concept that I learned as undergrad many years at Georgetown University from a professor who later became the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. It is exquisitely simple in explaining the real meaning of Democracy----Loyal Opposition. In Dictatorships and Banana Republics the opposition is often attacked and destroyed by using a violent Mob. In Democracies, win or lose, the opposition remains loyal and there is peaceful transition of Power. What Biden is asking or should be asking, is not so much "Unity" but rather asking for "Loyal opposition" which is the basic concept behind Democracy.
I like the concept. Historically, it seems that for most of America’s history that has been somewhere near the norm. How things have changed.
