Great video. My wife and I were there for a few days at beginning of June-wish we'd found that market kind of shopping area. We visited the Garden area and some of the Ming style buildings, but chose the wrong place to eat,which served up cold chips. Had a good coffee and cake at Peet's Cafe. The best meal I had was a kind of Chinese style lasagne, at a basic kind of place, near Nanjing Road. In Nanjing Road, there's a shopping Mall containing all different kinds of stuff to eat and I got a supply of sugar free sweets-candies.
Juts got the visa for my husband daughter last week from London, it was packed, looks like everyone is going home this summer , but we are moving back permanently, Beijing see you in August, I miss China sooooo much, thanks Alex and Julia, you guys are awesome ❤

… A little bargaining tip for general purpose : after a moment, you walk away. And then the seller will come with a much much lower price. Either they sell it with a small margin or lose the costumer. It s their last chance.
Of course, on your side you can always accept at any time if you really like the product.

Have you visited Hainan? A visa is not really required to visit Hainan. I'm curious if it feels like China culturally there, or if it's just a tourist beach area filled with foreigners.

It depends on where you go on Hainan. Sanya is a great place to see, but expensive and a typical tourist spot. Haikou is a typical chinese city you could say, but with of course local habits and style. the smaller villages and cities around Hainan are nice, but not that special if you are out for some big bang. AND keep in mind that Hainan is very strict with its envionmental laws. They take the nature serious there its almost all of the center island declared as national park, which is beautiful by the way and has some worldwide unique flora and fauna. So its a nice place to go and stay for sure, but if you want the tourist things go to Sanya and Haikou, the authentic and more grounded things are in the center or in the smaller areas.

The different prices of three hats are not necessarily due to the different rental costs of shops in different locations, and the natural prices are also different, but I still tend to ask more shops to choose a suitable price to buy.

You may find helpful to learn some basic and simple Chinese so that you can at least haggle in Mandarin.:) I try to learn the local language where I go and the locals do appreciate this as I have invested in their culture. And as you know, Chinese are always encouraging if you try.:)

I assure you , that most cities in China are really alive. I live in a 300k people city with 1 million people in the metropolitan area, and its crazy lively out here. And what nobody seems to mention, almost every week somebody sets up a firework to celebrate something, at least around here in my now hometown, and also in the city ofmy inlaws way into the steppes of inner mongolia. China is really a great place to live, and there is alot to see for a lifetime

Some tips on bargaining with vendor who doesn't show price on the product: before you bargain know how much the item is really worth, if you dont then go see other shops and compare their prices, don't commit to any vender until you found the best price. Don't counter offer unless you are sure it's a reasonable price, automatically cutting half of the seller's first offered price may not be the best price to pay, as can be seen un this video, the first seller's original offer was more than doubled the price by the second seller's. If you really want the item but can't find it anywhere else then estimate what you should pay for it then insist on that amount, don't let the seller control your mind, walk away if the seller doesn't accept your counter offer, either the seller gives in or you can go back.
