All the best for 2024, Christine. You sure have a long list of priorities, but tackling them one by one in order of your needs makes good sense. Also the costing is heavy so good budgeting essential. You are looking happy and ready to tackle whatever may come your way this year! Wishing you much strength and success. Using the troughs as seating and storage space also a clever idea. Looking forward to sharing all your envisaged projects with you. Blessings😊
The troughs would make good wood storage as well as a bench. Looks like adding the framing inside level will be the perfect way to get everything straight. Maybe you can caulk the back or use a little wood trip to hide the gap in the back but the front should be fine if the framing wood is visible since that will have to be the highest point. It will match the lids. 😊
Thanks! I had thought about using the area as a wood storage space, but since my seating is so limited, I decided on seating instead :) I will be getting a steel frame as my inside wood storage to make things a little neater inside - eventually :) Everything is a learning curve - here's hoping it works out! x
My heart goes out to you Christine….man…just your waste water system problems gives me a headache. Keep it up….you are a tough woman. If i visit my home country…I would like to visit you …..
Thanks Kirsty! Yeah, I feel like I'm pulled in a hundred different directions at once as I just want to get it all done, but patience is a virtue (I have yet to learn!) haha x
Happy New Year Christine. I wish you much success on all of your projects in the coming year. I think the storage bench is coming along well and I can just picture it with a comfy fabric covered mattress with plump cushions covered in some bright Moroccan kilims. A perfect place to curl up by the fire to read a good book. In regards to your kitchen cabinets have you considered IKEA? I’m sure you could do it for much less, even if you just used the bases and added real wood doors. You have a great channel! xx Pamela
Thanks Pamela! x The prices are based on Ikea :) Actually the kitchen I wanted originally is a lot more expensive, but I'm going to go more basic. I will do one or two more quotes before I settle on supplier - but Ikea is just so convenient! You read my mind! I am turning one of those areas into a book nook! :D Thank you for following my journey! I'll keep you posted on what I eventually go with kitchen wise :) xx
Certainly made a lot of progress for a little over a year! Especially keeping up with all the land and grape vines. Looking forward to the storage area being water tight so you can put away a lot of the clutter from the main house. Very frustrating since watching the septic installation knowing it was going to create headaches, and sure enough... hoping you can find a full-proof solution before long. Sending lots of love to you and the pups! 💌
On Portugal from Scratch, Kirsty fixed her metal door really cute, she pained the outside installed a round window, and used tongue and groove on the inside, she didn't do it all in one video and I don't know if she has it on a play list.
Yes! I saw that one too. I loved that idea and might do something similar down the line - especially to insulate the metal door as it just swells up and gets stuck during summer. :)
you are looking so happy and positive and ready to get some of your priorities done. I am truly happy for you and look forward to you sharing with us all. BTW how's the water ?
Thank you Effie! x I will be sharing water results in the coming weeks. The lab has changed the way they work and I encountered a little run around, then it takes a week to test - so hopefully I can have the results in about 2-3 weeks. Will keep you posted. For me, it already feels different on my skin so I know the minerals are lower - it's just the bacteria levels I'm hoping has come down as well :)
Wow Chris, you've got a real list there to accomplish for this year, the motivation is surely there!!! Is that all based on contractor prices or just materials? Have a good one!!! Cheers Bert 🙏🏻❤
Hi Bert, Yeah, I have a big list - we'll see how much I can get through as most is weather dependent - and budget! I based the prices on material costs for the roof, the rest have labour included. :)
Christine Happy New Year and I hope that you will be able to complete most of your projects ;o) I was wondering what temperatures you have during the night and what you do to keep comfortable temperature in your bedroom? All the best, Pete
Thanks Pete! At the moment we go to zero and dip down to -2 occasionally. The fireplace heats things up pretty well, but overnight I have a convection heater that runs in the bedroom keeping things quite comfortable. I don't mind paying a little more for comfort - haha. I also have good winter sheets that keep me snug. :)
@@GirlMeetsFarm This sounds good, thanks Christine, we just returned from Spain where during the night was just over 0 degrees, we warmed up using air con and we were not fun of it. As you know we are still looking for our place in Portugal and keep searching :) All the best :)
Hi and thank you! the cost for the new septic route will be approximately 1,500 euro - I worked this out based on labour, new piping and maybe a digger loader if work will take 2 days - but it will cost a lot more if I need to replace the full septic tank as well. I was never happy with the one that went in there.
Happy 2024 ,Christine!!!!!!Take care. 🇬🇷 🇬🇷
Thank you Katia! x

Happy New Year Christine. Do you know what the cost will be to re-route the septic system line?
