Oh gosh, it hurts hearing this. The positive is that you did not lose the pen as a whole. At least you are able to get it fixed and write with it again. Definitely keep us updated.
The threads look bent in. Should be easy to bend back using a round rod. Even the tapered tip of an old pen should be good to gently roll the threads back into place.
Easy to bend back but make sure it is eaven preferenser a metal cone or somthing to gently get it back to shape. There is a small rubber gasket and spring by the nibopening that might be in trouble. Also rinse in water so you get all the detergent out of barrel and nibunit.
I once left a fully inked pen in the pocket of my jeans and it went through the wash with a permanent ink (probably a Noodler's). It ruined a dress shirt I got from my grandpa when he passed. I still have the shirt in the hopes of one day getting the blue spots off. 😫
Back in my ballpoint days I'd forget one in my pants or shirt, and invariably run one thru the laundry about monthly. My wife just cant be bothered to check pockets 🙄 but it marbled the washer / dryer a lovely design 😊
If it feels too hard to bend back as it is, applying a little heat might help. If you do manage to recover the pen, I also suggest looking for a a stub nib unit. I have one in my vanishing point and it's pretty sweet. Good luck!
No matter what happens, remember these are just pens. As long as we use them, we are going to break them or lose them. They’re not meant to weigh on our souls.
No fountain pens of mine have gone through the wash (yet), but we do have a cat who likes to jump into the dryer. My wife decided to cure her by giving her a ride for a couple of seconds. When the dryer stopped, the cat was under wet towels, and didn't want to come out. We have a different dryer now - one without a window in the door - and last night she has to be persuaded not to jump in again. Her unofficial name is The Calico Terror.
I've dropped a few nib down uncapped running errands 😢 the fountain pen gods were on my side and I have yet to seriously bend or break a nib but I used my phone notes app since then even thought I love the satisfaction of crossing out an item on my list 😅
Since I saw this Pilot Capless in metal/stripes first on your UA-cam channel I crave one. The Capless seem to be plentyfull among my usual dealers (Scandinavia) but I can’t find a version like your pen. Is your pen a special edition? Thanks for all the great videos! 😊👍🏻
I'm not sure. When I bought it a few years ago I though it was listed as some kind of special edition but I don't see that in descriptions now. I would love to see them make more in this style with the nice heavy weight.
We all got through our mistakes. The threads can be repaired by a jewelrer to fix the threads, otherwise go to your hardware store, and explain the situation. A tap & die will do the trick, even if there is tapering of threads. I cleaned a new Esterbrooke Phaeton 300R with cologne, thinking it would remove the Noodler stench (same vegetan cellulose material,) and the alcohol melted in the threads, thrown out unfortunately.
😱 At least the nib unit works. Threads can be fixed. One time i didn't put a pen on the washer, but my journal that was on the laptop compartment. After a few minutes i noticed and retrieved it. Some parts were very smeared and others -with different inks- were better. I spent a couple of hours driying it 😂.
That’s a shame. If it’s just a matter of the threaded portion being bent in someone should be able fix it. As for how I keep track of pens, if I’m wearing a button down shirt, it goes in the shirt pocket. If a T-shirt, that means I’m doing handyman type stuff and the fountain pens are left behind, either by my bed, or downstairs on my desk. I lost my first pen so I’m a bit more deliberate about where I keep them, now. Not that I won’t lose another, I think it’s bound to happen.
You said dark matter was your fav I believe on a video from some time ago I just purchased bad black moccasin, you mentioned it being great archival, which is just what I wanted out of this ink. I also have Texas black bat. Between the two bbm and tbb, which do you prefer which do you think is darker?
@curatedavalon Hi I did leave one other comment on a video but it’s a bit of an old one so I figured I’d say one here, I’m currently working on a novel and you had said you work with authors for worldbuilding. I was wondering if you still do
I do. Primarily science fiction and occasionally fantasy. If it's something I think will benefit from my approach I'll give it a go. I'm currently booked for the next few months.
Just had a pen nightmare last night. Lol. Woke up with the resolve to leave my nice pens at home. So hard though.
Awwww
No panic, Majohn A1. You could still use the 14k nib from the ceased Capless.
Oh gosh, it hurts hearing this. The positive is that you did not lose the pen as a whole. At least you are able to get it fixed and write with it again. Definitely keep us updated.
Absolutely! Fingers crossed!
I once accidently soaked my Lamy Vista in water that was scalding hot, and was then surprised when it warped 😬😳🙄
Oof that is sad!
What a nightmare! Mistakes happen but I hope you are able to get your pen back to working order!
Thanks so much!
I'm sorry about your Pilot Vanishing Point stripes. That's an expensive pen. Hopefully you can find a way to reopen up the screw cap section
I hope so!

Thanks for the information. I might just give it a try!
@@curatedavalon Don't stress it too much. Keep checking the fit with the body section's threads. Small, small adjustments.
Thanks for sharing your real life fountain pen stories! I hope your pen is fixed soon!
You're welcome! And I will!

Have you tried hydrogen peroxide? Perhaps test it with a q-tip.
@@SpringNotes I haven't tried that yet. It's a light blue shirt, so I was afraid I'd damage it.
Oxyclean may help get rid of the stains.
That is tragic! If the shirt simply cannot be saved I'd highly recommend making something from it.
Back in my ballpoint days I'd forget one in my pants or shirt, and invariably run one thru the laundry about monthly. My wife just cant be bothered to check pockets 🙄 but it marbled the washer / dryer a lovely design 😊
Eesh! Yeah I'm finding ink spots all over my clothes! Luckily it was a dark load of laundry!

I agree!
What a horrible story. This is your fav pen. 😢
I would recommend sending it to Pilot so that they can replace the thread unit.
A good recommendation!
So sorry this happened. Those laundry machines can be tough
Goodness yes!

Wow that is quite the cat!

Lucky! I've dropped a few myself.

Bummer! Looks bent juuust a little and most likely can be fixed, good luck!

Once I bought a Lamy Safari and the thing got run over by a truck
Ooooooo that's unfortunate!

If I'm remembering correctly I think the tbb is slightly darker. I'll have to pull them out and see!
Heartbreak!
