  • I've been to a lot of comic conventions and they are a lot of fun, but they are work and can be pretty draining. I made this video to hopefully make the convention scene a little less stressful and hopefully help people make friends and not enemies.

That's actually disappointing someone will steal even from there. 😓 I expected more.

Engage with the people in front of your table and ONLY in front of your table. I've had to call out table-neighbors who liked to poach the people who were talking to me and checking out my merchandise. It's not cool.

Yeah, that's under handed. I know everyone's trying to make a buck, but we gotta have a little class.

I've encountered almost every one of these from neighbouring tables and it's super frustrating!

Hey Walter, my sister was this year at the new york comic con (as visitor) and she noticed that some stuff is different overseas ( not the stuff you mentioned) But she marveled over the general prices for art. I quess the nycc is pretty expensive when it comes to a table in the artist alley but even with this she was very happy to see that you guys can earn good money. :) here its aside you are really good not so easy to earn money with that kind of comissions. I unfortunately suffer on conventions because its to loud and to busy for me. Even when im just a visitor.

Unless artists are popular it's not uncommon for them to break even at conventions because it can cost a lot of money to reserve a space, so not all artists make a profit.
Bigger cons like NYCC will likely put your work in the eyes of more people so you stand a better chance but it's not a guarantee.

NYCC is a bit crazy. NY city is expensive to get a hotel and eat. NYCC is expensive to get an artist alley table. Everything is really more expensive in New York. But I think there was a much needed push recently of artists realizing their work was worth more than they were charging, so I think everyone sorta raised their prices to a more livable amount. Also there's inflation right now. It's a weird time. I agree with you though, cons are very loud and very busy. I am usually worn out for a week after I go to a con. Actually it's slightly more peaceful exhibiting than it is to be a visitor. As an exhibitor you have a table to protect you and a chair to rest on. I don't think I would be able to handle going to a con as a visitor, my senses would explode. I hope your sister had an awesome time.

Thank you for everything! In fact, I don't have anyone who supports me with knowledge in this field other than you (I mean the field of comics and webtoons).. A year ago I started following you and watched almost all of your videos. I had the talent of drawing and writing stories, but I don't know anything about how to develop them, or how to start in webtoon! I really started from scratch so thank you, you and your videos helped me a lot and now I'm on my way to achieving my dream thanks to you.. I think I'm the happiest of your subscribers that you're back!😅
    Thank you Mr. Walter 🤗🌹
