I bought a pair of New Peter Millar Dress pants at a yard sale this weekend for $1. They were my son's size. He didn't care for thiem. Even the $800 price tag on them didn't change his mind. No worries, I already have them listed. I even started cross listing to Poshmark. I guess I'm a bonafide clothing seller now. I picked up 50 items at the yard sale. I made my wife and kids sit down and watch my haul. I used words like 'bins prices', 'style pick-up', and 'bread and butter'. Too bad my neighbors only have $1 day once a year.
HOLY! 800 dollars for dress pants from Peter Millar?! I guess that makes sense with their polos going for what they go for.. That's a GREAT haul for a yard sale! If they had 800 dollar pants for a buck, I'll bet you got some INSANE stuff! Also - welcome to the dark side. We have cookies...and talk seemingly COMPLETELY in code according to my friends and family!
If you look in the description of the videos - there's a link to my poshmark store! I've got MOST of the stuff listed from this video, if you don't see it, let me know!
YAY ! This video popped up when I'm already procrastinating going to the PO so it's perfect. I pick up most velvet in general... It fits in with so many aesthetics' especially in the fall. Some do better than others like the burn out stuff sells first.... Math and clothing ? Wild !
*tips hat* Happy to aide in your procrastination! Seriously - I live for a velvet find - and you're right. Burnout velvet is probably the thing that moves the fastest from my closet out of anything!
I know you won't believe it, but they're both already up! (I'm almost caught up....almost) Here are the links if you want to take a closer look at them! Here's the robe: poshmark.com/listing/Soft-Cashmere-Gray-Duster-Cardigan-Dressing-Gown-or-Robe-Size-Small-66e8ce9cfee4683f150d3b80 ...and the shrug (I think this is the one you're referring to...): poshmark.com/listing/1950s-Vintage-ALICE-MALOOF-Tie-Neck-Cropped-Robe-Shrug-Blouse-Size-Small-66da4f0f027427e44c60b04a
Oh, my word. Back in the day (mid- to late-'90s) I had a friend who was so into Jhane Barnes. That's a blast from the past. I wonder what he's doing these days . . .
See! I KNEW the name was familliar! Looks like she's doing interior design work - lots of flooring patterns and stuff - check it out!! jhanebarnes.com/ What an absolutely fascinating person!
Since you asked . . . Found a royal-blue metallic Eva Franco cap sleeve sheath with navy wool jacquard pattern and blue frog cording embellishments at the shoulder. Absolutely gorgeous occasion dress. Paid: $1. Sold for: $50 (which for me, is good -- I live in a fairly rural area, and designer labels we do not see).
OoooooOOOooooh... Hey - a 50 dollar sales price is a great profit for ANY area! I'll bet that's STUNNING! If you've still got a link to the sold listing, post it! I'd love to see it in all it's glory!
Jhane Barnes mens clothing always sold really well for me in the 90's/Y2K and were great quality. The T shirt you have would fall in to the ottoman rib fabric catagory. I havent thought about the brand in a long time but it stopped selling for me when men stopped dressing nicely/stooped wearing suits. Such a shame. I hope the value has gone up, such well made shirts. Alice Maloif designed nightwear/slips and the piece you found would be called a bed jacket. Really popular in 60's/70's. I would love a trends video! Also, a series explaining which brands are sold at which stores like Dolls Kill brands or Anthro brands. I know these are a ton of work but it would be so helpful and something others dont necessarily offer
Ottoman! Of course! I don't know why I didn't connect those dots - one of my favorite "bumming around the house" sweatshirts is Ottoman! Interesting about Jhane Barnes! It seems like this really splits the difference between "dressy" and casual - the quality is really out of this world! - and definitely an interesting thought on the anthro / dolls kill brands. I know Dolls Kill would be tough because they're so protective of their name, but something I could probably collect over time... I like it though - let me noodle on how I could effectively bring that to you guys in a NOT super boring way.... And in the meantime, Anthro does keep a running list of their brands, and I believe they keep this up-to-date (and let me tell you, they carry a LOT of brands. Like, WAY, WAY more than you think) : Check it out! www.anthropologie.com/brands
Well, welcome aboard! I'm absolutely aware of how stinking lucky I am here - our bins locations are excellent. Densely populated and a LOT of wealth in a concentrated area makes for incredible thrifting. And no point in gatekeeping... I'm a full hearted believer in a rising tide raises all boats, so the better we all do, the better we ALL do!
I have literally torn the internet to shreds trying to find it, and i can't find ANYTHING. I haven't been able to find anything with that same kind of tie, no matter how hard I searched... crazy, right? Usually the internet delivers...
SORRY for the delay here! I didn't - unfortunately, when I went to photograph it, I discovered some sneaky moth holes I didn't catch on the underside of the arms, that were just beyond any semblance of repairs. It kills me. It really does! it was the most GORGEOUS brown!
Hi! Thanks again for a great video. Yes please do a video on keywords and types of fabric and styles. That would be so incredibly helpful.
Yes!! Please do content on aesthetics! This is my big thing now. It helps SO much with sourcing and sales!
Yes a trends aesthetic keywords video would be awesome ❤❤
I'll be looking out for that robe!!!

Lol, my biped chihuahua is totally enthralled with you. She's clearly training for her UA-cam debut. Too bad I can't attach a pic.

I have literally torn the internet to shreds trying to find it, and i can't find ANYTHING. I haven't been able to find anything with that same kind of tie, no matter how hard I searched... crazy, right? Usually the internet delivers...

I know what vintage is but still sometimes it gets me and I think what? Y2K is vintage?
Insane, right? I don't know how Y2K can be vintage when it was just two years ago, and we're all 24 years old...🤣🤣🤣🤣
