Hey everyone! This is my first video. Here is a quick instrumental I wrote called 'Chicken Run' in the style of Brent Mason, Brad Paisley, Danny Gatton and all of those guys.
I am a session guitarist, song writer and teacher so please feel free to get in touch with me regarding any of my services or if you just want to have a chat!
Anyway I hope you enjoy the video and please leave any comments you may have, feedback is always appreciated!
Jake Faun
Thanks for checking my vid out. Might be a while before an album comes out but is definitely something in the pipeline!
Crimes are committed all over the world every moment of the day and night but ! if you don't release an album then the feds need come and give you a severe talking too for imprisonment of a wonderful talent ! Boooooooooom
👍
@@kennysmusicalcabaret162 haha, I've actually just put all my fast country guitar songs on spotify/iTunes so you can now get those, I'll be releasing some of my other tracks soon as well.
Don't want to hear it ya clown
@@bernarddover1442 well the good news is no one is forcing you to. 😊
Every time I try "chicken pickin" it always ends ups ounding like "chicken PUKING"
I think 'Chicken Puking' would make for a good song title!
In the words of Benny Hill...
"I'm not a pheasant plucker, I'm a pheasant pluckers son, I'm just sitting plucking pheasants til the pheasant plucker comes" say that 10 times fast.
@@malcolmbrewer bwahahahahahahahaha!
Fender telecaster for sale. I'm done!
Hah! I know the feeling! But never compare yourself to others! Only compare yourself to where you were a year ago! YOU'RE all that really matters!
@Charles H Geis IV all you gotta do is to learn 500 licks and then put'em all together
@Charles H Geis IV I couldnt agree more man
Bwaahaaaaa!!
Practice practice practice man its doable!
These days 4 year old already have this level. Don’t matter man! Don’t give up something you love to do because someone else is a master
There definitely are some scary good kids out there! Technique also isn't everything, better to be able to write/play a catchy melody than play with super fast precision but nothing memorable.
Awesome - fantastic composition and playing! 🎸
That was a jaw-dropping performance. I'm sure glad I stumbled into it.
Wonderful !!! Awesome guitar solo!!! Extremely creative !!!
Killer country guitar playing!!! I can hear a lot of paisley and Vince gill in you...Cheers man...you're awesome. God bless you!
Man that is raw talent. I truly enjoys watching that display of awesomeness.
i love this stuff, well done man
Run chicken Run !
Absolutely a great work dude, hats off !
Really nice, man. Great timing, tone, the works, it really sounds great. A+
so darned good I realized I was holding my breath! Amazing!!! After a life of rock and metal this is the kind of playing that really moves me now. I want the tab and backing track!! LOL. you're very inspiring.
Awesome Jake! You hit over a million views! I checked recently and it was in the 900,000's. This is a spectacular original guitar instrumental accomplishment. Cheers!
Yep it made it! Pretty cool, gotta try and get the rest of them to get there now.
Amazing. Very, very cool. Can't stop watching it.
Not only are you the best I've ever seen and heard, your sense of percussion is breathtaking and you even take time to hit that open string harmonic in between your dazzling performance.
Amazing! Woah!!! You're a master! 👍🎸🇧🇷😁
Thank you Rod!
not only a great display of skill, but sound awesome. im a 20+ year student of guitar ( and I will be a student till the day I die) I follow everything from heavy speed metal to classical. love country music. and I really don't think they get enough credit for guitar skill.
For over fifty years I've played everything from rock, heavy metal, blues gospel, jazz ,etc ,etc. Chicken Picken has always fascinated me, and when all of my friends would
criticize me for my taste in that particular style, I would defend it simply on the merit of it's difficulty to master. I clearly should have gotten better friends.
This guy surely has done a great job of learning it, but I never have learned it unfortunately. Johnny Hiland is one of my all-time favs.
Incredible playing man! I was looking for some inspiration and influence to add to my southern rock style to make it more "pedal steely" as well as just open up some other possibilities. I've always been into pedal-steel style bends, hybrid picking, and adding certain notes to a pentatonic to get that tonality and feel, but, man...I love you guys that can play like this. I don't think I'll ever go all the way country, but hearing just little pieces while watching you play helped confirm some of the stuff I've been playing and served to remind a person who doesn't regularly listen to many country guys that there is still some very cool stuff out there that has yet to have the surface scratched upon. Thanks for posting this.
Absolutely fanTASTIC
This is spectacular! I really enjoyed this country style chicken pickin instrumental. I'm a big Gatton, Paisley, Mason, Hiland, etc., fan and this instrumental is a worthy tribute. Thanks Jake!
This is why I switched to the Bass. Awesome pickin man!! Wish I'd learned this 30 years ago.
Thank you, well it's never too late to learn something new!
Wow! Phenomenal!! What a great guitar playing! So fast and technically accomplished, but so soulful too!!!
Thanks dude, yes no point playing fast if it hasn't got any feeling!
Absolutely awesome, Thanks for posting such talent!!!
Thanks man!
I am not even a country music fan....
but dude that was SMOKIN' hot and I enjoyed it immensely. I especially liked the jazzy passing tones (I am a fan of jazz) - really adds depth and character to your composition.
Thanks for posting and best wishes.
Uncle Claw I've been playing bluegrass for a long time, and I listen to the real stuff, if your gonna open up to country music. Go back and listen to some of, hank snow, patsy cline or lefty frizzel. Not this. If your interested in some bluegrass go and listen to some osborne Brothers, bill monroe or lester flatt and earl scruggs! I have a feeling you might like it.😊
Robyn Hamrick
Thanks for dropping that knowledge here in your comment. I'll definitely work my way back...
That's the cool thing about country. There is always space to ADD to it.
A ton of country comes from dixieland jazz in the form of western swing
@@jeremysears4263 Danny gatton
Fantastic playing. I've been playing guitar for over 52 years but my fingers dont move so fast anymore. You do a good job. Keep up the good work, and keep those fingers limber.
great solo......love melody and the speed...
Wow! I loved your country playing! You should be a star in Nashville!
Nice!
Dunno if you guys gives a damn but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can stream all of the new movies on instaflixxer. Been streaming with my brother for the last weeks =)
@Trey Isaac yup, been using InstaFlixxer for since december myself :)
As a guitarist, you are my complete opposite. Still, I love this the way Batman kinda loved having the Joker around to give him something to do!
Respect.
Haha thanks man, I see by your name you a dam of rhythm so yea I see this is probably this seems like complete opposite. I actually play rhythm most of the time professionally which is why I have this channel so I can be the annoying lead guitarist for a moment!
Killer tone, Killer player , Killer technique ! !!
Awesome !!! Love that
Thanks yon!
Terrific stuff here. Love watching this stuff.
Thanks Steven!
Wow that was amazing. I've watched it 5 or 6 times...Great job. After watching I don't know if I should practice more or just chuck my guitars out the window.
hahahaahahahahaha
If your gonna chuck a Telecaster,Send it to me instead lol
same
Lol. I know its been five years but still funny. Cheers!
No, man
WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great to see a player with the chops to match their gear. Thanks for sharing man.
The sheer serendipity of that instrument is just so endless it's impossible to describe, hell, if I could master flamenco that would be my holy grail...
Ohhhhh man!! That telecaster was singing! I love that finger style- damn! Just blown away!
Thanks Gary!
"I used to be really heavy, but playing like this I lost 100 pounds".
It's the diet they don't want you to know about...
Man, i wish there were this kind of music around Brazil..!
We have our cowntru music...bud nothing compares to your music!
Y´re amazing..!
Jake, thanks for a great video and thanks a lot for the tab, you're the man
holly shit
Exactly right!
Hopefully she wiped
37 people are fucking deaf, that was awesome
Deaf no, jealous yes. This boy is great.
Never get tired of watching this...brother your amazing
Thanks maxwell.
It's all so relaxed, yet the pace is swift. Beautiful!
Thank you! I'm glad it comes across that way, I'm hoping I don't mess it all up as I'm playing so it definitely doesn't feel relaxed in my brain haha.
What are you doing to get that tone? What settings? Effects? Sounds killer - the playing and the tone!
I know I'm 5 months late in this, bit hopefully other people can use this info if they see my comment. This isn't my video or setup, but I don't a long time chasing this exact tone myself, and I've finally figured it out. This tone comes in 2 parts: a very specific guitar, the Telecaster, and very specific amp tone, in this case a Dr. Z SRZ-65. This is a very Brad Paisley-like tone, and it's basically just a clean tone with a slight bit of gain, and a compressor pedal. The unique tone comes from the amp in combination with the signature Tele twang. Also, a VOX ac15 or ac30 can come darn close to this tone as well.
Gee wiz thats how telecasters sound. listen to James Burton. This ain't nothing new.
OK....
Where is the 25 minute version pls
Oh my gooooodnessssss that was spectacular!!!
Great playing, great tone, great tune.....just friggin great!
Thanks man, I really appreciate it!
You should play for Alan Jackson because it sounds a lot like his guitar player but better
Well if you hear he's looking for a guitarist be sure to let me know!
You are probably referring to Brent Mason.
This in .75 speed is so chill
But yeah I couldn’t even play it myself at .75 speed lol
.50 speed for maximum chill.
Jake....that was brilliant! Much respect to you sir. That was flawless.🤘
Thanks Leeroy, glad you liked it!
Great stuff man I would have to say this is the most technical style of guitar playing there is, I love this type of guitar because every note is heard can't hide behind distortion, wonderful job
Thanks Alex, yea without distortion suddenly everything becomes much harder. Nothing to hide behind!
C'mon, This has got to be Brent Mason with a mask on lol
I hope everybody here realises that this is way more technical than all the shredding and what have u that is out there. I spent a lot of time with shred guitar.. But this is the shit. Nice strat or tele(custom shop if you can) decent amp and those mentioned pedals and taadaaaa.
***** Unless you prefer other genres, at which point something else is "real" guitar playing. Seriously, claiming one style's superiority is pretty stupid. And there are plenty of styles that are just as technical, but in other ways.
***** Man, what a compelling argument. You sure got me. Glad to see that UA-cam remains a place for compelling discussion.
You missed the point of my comment entirely. My point was that comparing the technicality of styles that are so different, but technically complex in different ways is pointless. Like you said, who cares?
For example, this video's playing is boring to me, whereas I love a song like say, "Twin Six Shooters" by Doyle Dykes. Why? Preferences. I prefer the composition, the style, everything. Does that make this video's playing any less technical? No. Does it make it shitty? Fuck no, it's just not my thing. But you don't see me commenting on Twin Six Shooters and saying "Now THIS is REAL guitar, not like those shitty country players who just play fast".
You're doing the same thing. Belittling guitarists over their preferred style of music and making blanket statements about them isn't going to convince them that your style is superior. It's just going to make you come off as an an arrogant asshole.
*sigh*. you've yet to respond to a single thing I've actually said. You keep responding as if I'm saying shredding is somehow amazing, or superior to country. I haven't mentioned shredders even once. Did you even look at the link? Did you just assume it was some shredder? Because it feels like we're having two completely different conversations here.
*****
Your so right when u say that. Shred has kind of past its time.
It is sad but true :-)
Country guitar looks so easy but reality is sooo the opposite haha.
Absolutely great!
Thank you Hal!
That is awesome!
Instructions unclear my fender is in the trash.
My bad, I'll try and give clearer instructions next time.
You should be wearing fire-proof clothes and have a fire extinguisher handy when you play my friend! WOW!
Haha thanks, yes I have the fire brigade on speed dial just in case. 😉
Clean and precise. Very excellent playing brother.
Yeah man! Congratulations, great sound and wonderful song!
Thanks Davide.
I love how generic the backing track sounds.
jjmah7 that’s basically what most country sounds like...
Haha, yea the more basic the backing, the more impressive my playing sounds! (hopefully)
@Illusion exactly
incredibly talented
Jesus loves you
Believe in his death and resurrection for your forgiveness in the eyes of God and repent from sin
follow his Word in the bible and may you sée it's not of man!
Thank you!
You got it jean
Hey Jake! thanks a lot! I was having a real shitty day untiil I started to listen to you playing the guitar! THANK YOU AGAIN!
Thanks for the comment and checking out my vid, really appreciate it! Jake
This is a 100 times more skillful than that shredding nonsense.
Thanks man, although some might say I'm playing a lot of nonsense here haha.
You do realize you don't have to shit on other styles and techniques just to make your own seem better, right? You can praise the skill, talent and musicianship required for country guitar without trying to downplay metal. Both require tremendous skill and dedication at their highest levels.
@@elbentzo don't worry about him. I'd wager he's the same white boomer that has been saying rap isn't music since he first heard it 10 years after Run-DMC hit the charts!
@@livejay9062 rap ain’t msuic
There’s alway I hidden bit of admiration behind shit talk..what he actually means is: « Wow! This playing is incredible, shredding is really impressive too but I need to have a strong opinion to feel like I’m someone important on the internet »
I love all styles personally..insane playing👌
FANTASTIC!
Magic!!! Just great. Thank you.
Thank you!
I love players like this. Young, hard working, skilled and having fun. Jake makes it look easy, and it's not! Signed, 66 years old and still learning.
Thanks man, well it's not all fun and games, there are plenty of days where the guitar is not doing what I want it to! But I'm glad if it looks easy!
Just terrific. Whoa.
Superb stuff my man. Put a smile on my face within the first ten seconds!
I'm glad I was able to do that!
that is one awesome display of fine picking. i sure like that. great job sir.
