Sensei, when you go down low in some technique, beware of a knee strike or a kick( if there is a pause and your uke is also a Muay Thai practitioner). Anyway your techniques are great! With respect and admiration.

what part of this art to you is good for self defense? People do not grab your wrist and most of there moves are defense for grabbing someones wrist. people throw punches. and do take downs which Aikido has no answer for so how is this a good self defense art?

Na minha cidade tem umas 3 academias de Aikido no mínimo.
Fiz 3 aulas e não achei tão eficaz quanto o caratê. Mas respeito muito quem curte.

Sensei is just showing some techniques...but of course its a different scenario when it comes to opponent who is also well verse in any martial arts...awareness comes out naturally. Peace to all.

I really like aikido I believe in its morals and rules and everything but it does need more pressure testing like sparring and needs more striking as well as ground defense overall I believe in the peaceful nature of aikido but just like every martial art it is still imperfect
aiki is really a weapons art (why you wear a hakamma) the last thing you want to do with armed opponents is go to ground. the technique work against committed attacks ie great against an angry drunk useless in a boxing match. Aiki training should include striking but demonstration aikido like this generally doesn't.

In this video, uke is not really like an agressive person in the street.. Uke need to forget everything about aikido if you really want to try something about mixing selfdefense and aikido. Most of the techniques looks good but some others are not really effective with a real strong opponent. Anyway it's really interesting !
Rafael MK atemi is one of the most important thing in aïkido
I'm not talking about atemi. I'm talking about the fact that there is a big difference between an Uke who practice with an aikido style and an opponent in the street who don't have any rule. In my oppinion, In the street it's more nervous, more strong, more rigid, more fast, with more hazardous movements.. this is completly different with what we work has an Uke in aikido.... so you can't say "i'll try my aikido technique like a self-defense" if your opponent still think like an aikidoka.
@@rapick71 agree with u, and also Uke did not try to attack after first movement, he just stay and wait what will happen with him
Its funny Aikido people say “atemi is everything in aikido” but none of them know how to throw a good punch (much less a kick). Boxers punch well. Kick boxers, muay thai, even karate know how to throw real strikes. Aikido? No, Aikido dont train to hit correctly yet they say hitting is the key to the art. So much nonsense in this style.
It can be effective if someone grabs you to bring him down. But I thing the moves must be done fast.
Haters of Aikido, just don't understand how it works.
I dont hate Aikido it's just not a fighting art. I think Aikido is something one trains in after learning how to fight with another combat art like Judo, Muay Thai, etc
@@bujindork.. Judo and Muay Thai boxing, are more sports like and "agressive"... while Aikido is no sport, but a self defense system.
I wouldn't call Aikido a self defense system since it doesnt contain any real curriculum for effective self defense training. I consider it like Tai Chi, good movement and excercise for the body as one ages.

this is only good in seminars, but for street fights this will not be effective. Because in a street fight attacks will be fast from various directions.
