  • Seaproof.tv and Becky Kagan Schott of Liquid Productions dive with Pacific Pro Dive and Marine Adventures to visit the incredibly cute and curious sea lions of British Columbia, Canada. Filmed at two locations; Vivian Island and Hornby Island, central Vancouver Island, BC.
    These gentle giants may seem insane, but they're just like a pack of playful puppy dogs!

      My head was the one that was in the sea lions mouth in the video. I just froze because i felt a small amount of pressure then it let go. I have huge respect for these animals and its incredible to see the amount of control they have.

      Not worried at all! They don't really bite as such, they're actually being very gentle and feeling with their mouths. They won't bite off anything, they're just being inquisitive!

      They are awesome free divers, and hold their breath under water. :)

    • @brentlionakaboldchamp
      @brentlionakaboldchamp 2 роки тому +1

      In a relaxed state, their noses are actually closed, so they have to consciously open them up, to take a breathe, so its kinda natural for them to hold their breath. They are able to store a lot of oxygen in their organs, much better than land animals, so they can hold their breath for several minutes. A breathe hold of 3 mins for a Sea Lion is about equivalent to a Human doing so for 30 seconds. So they are quite a bit better than us.

    Can you take out the music and let us hear the actual sounds? That would put us the viewer right there with you and the camera, rather than giving us just the visual component...or is the music superior to the actual sounds?

    • @UtkarshSingh
      @UtkarshSingh 7 років тому +2

      Most of the video is underwater and seals mostly make noise when they're outside anyway. I doubt there was much to hear.

    • @seaprooftv
      @seaprooftv  7 років тому +2

      Hi Silver, most of the sounds you'd hear would just be of our bubbles. Sea lions do "bark" and that can sometimes be heard underwater, but often doesn't come out well on our recordings. Our cameras are inside sold aluminum housings that really cut down on the clarity of anything captured. You'd also hear us giggle a lot!

  • @jimmyjoe5770

    Not a great idea. Great Whites are notorious to be in B.C. and in that area as well. That is their prime dinner.

    • @seaprooftv
      @seaprooftv  7 років тому +3

      Hi Jimmy, Great Whites aren't in this area, and tend not to visit BC. The occasional orca will take an interest in a sea lion, but even that is rare.

    • @jimmyjoe5770
      @jimmyjoe5770 7 років тому

      I lived in Richmond Vancouver for 3 years. A Great White CAN be in that area, they made news here and there.

    Fossil fuelled boats, and cameras and lights and the divers themselves do not do these poor creatures or their environment any good at all. And that sappy music doesn't help convince me.

      @BeckyKaganSchott 7 років тому +5

      Tim, the sea lions do not seem to mind the cameras or lights. In fact they are very curious and approach divers out of curiosity. The video also helps them because there are some people that want cull's so the hope here is a little bit of education.

    • @KrisKringle2
      @KrisKringle2 6 років тому
