A couple audio engineer notes re: the subwoofer Obviously if you're happy with it, there's no need to mess with it, but If you're having issues where the subwoofers are creating a lot of noise, hum, buzz, etc, you might want to try turning down the gain at the subs and turning up the volume at the bass knob (or elsewhere up the signal chain, idk what kind of EQ controls or whatever you've got on there). Analog cables are noisy, and cranking the gain at the end of the signal chain (the amp built into the subwoofer cabinet) means you're turning up all the noise introduced along the length of the cabling, so for purposes of signal-to-noise ratio, it's best to boost the signal level as early on in the signal chain as possible. You would get a more focused response (read: more low end) from the subs by turning down the cutoff frequency. The advantage of subwoofers is that they allow you to split up the frequency spectrum into ranges and send those ranges to speakers so that each speaker can just focus on its own range. 250 Hz is pretty high for a subwoofer cutoff frequency, and setting it that way means you're feeding stuff that isn't really low end into it, meaning the subwoofer has to worry about not only the low end but also some low midrange, thus splitting its focus and reducing the amount of low end you'll get out of it. It's definitely a balancing act, because setting the cutoff frequency too low means you're forcing the main speakers to handle some of the stuff that the subs should be handling. At the same time, if you're getting 120 dB SPL out of your system, you probably have nothing to worry about, but if you're looking to really put those speakers to the test, you might try playing with the cutoff frequency.
Initially I was gonna tell you to shush and let people have fun, but this is a genuinely good comment for giving that sub even more gutbusting bass. Good comment :)
@@Luke-we9gj Thanks! george never fails to amaze me. hes probably the best purchase for the dank warehouse we've seen
Great job guys. Adding awesome speakers to old Toyotas should be a thing. I had 2 15 inch 1000 watt subs, 2 10 inch 3000 watt mids in the back where the 6x9s used to be, 2 6.5 400 watt mids up front and 4 1200 watt super tweeters, 2 tweeters in back 2 in front. Running on 2, 4 channel 4500 watt amps. Had 3 car batteries and a 50 farad capacitor. All that shoved into a 98 camry. Best sound quality I've ever heard. Was like a movie theater. Then after 250k miles a connecting rod cap ripped itself loose and blew a fist sized hole in my engine block. So sad.
i had the same exact car for my first ever car, it looked exactly like that and i am so happy to see you give it some love. I stickerbombed the whole trunk and painted it two tone because of the paint damage on the roof and hood. Very good times, thank you for helping me relive some of those memories lmao.
Man these were the un-killable car. Slow, nothing flashy but mine started even in -40 C temperature we have here in winter. It was decent for the time. The rust eat out mine after 12 years unfortunately.
In regards to that dash mat: I had a mid-2000s Toyota and that dashboard can EASILY crack in the heat and sun after a little while. That dash mat is super helpful, definitely recommend having at least something up there to cover it.
I bet if Wade put clear ceramic window tint on the windshield, it would help avoid cracking, since it blocks IR. If he got the windshield UV treated, that would be even better.
Hey Dank! I do automotive trimming out my garage and I’d be more than happy to fix up that interior for you! Im at the other side of town but it would be an honour sir.
I can just imagine the endless possibilities
@@Justaguydointhibgs Shrek Green seats are a must 👌
James, a professional car mechanic, couldn’t figure out how to tear a wipe out of a box.
You being on floatplane and actually using ltt cable ties is such a nice syngergy
almost as nice of a synergy as this segway, to our sponsor!
Being an audio/car nut and being a fitter of stereos and amps in my previous job, this was brilliant to watch. Got a similar set up in my V70 and I just love seeing people’s surprised faces when I drive past with some drum and bass banging out 🤣 they don’t expect a grandad car to be so loud hahahahahaha. Awesome video and nice clean up. Gotta love a stealth nugget
"Linus's Cable Ties"... feelsbadman, now they're Formerly Linus's Cable Ties.
Watching this was just like helping my cousin rebuild his ford thunderbird. I can feel the pride and attachment to this car you have all the way across the Pacific and through the youtube trashpile
I would put rubber mounts on the Amp if you are mounting to the box because of the vibration. And I would recommend tuning the Amp because how it is set up now is going to kill the Amp and the subs quick. After that, enjoy the beautiful setup.
6:20 Those precious cupholders are rare AF (atleast in Finland.) never seen those and i have been sitting in a lot of corollas. It's also pretty expensive even from ebay etc. 70€ for one... + the shipping (50€!)
Happy b-day the car! Now we just need the old straight exhaust that Jeff had to complete the noise
The Car reminds me of my own The Rover. An old 03 land rover discovery. Clear coat gone, things are broken but it still runs..and mostly clean the inside
I swear you are teasing us by not changing spark plugs.
What's the bet that a new set of plugs would immediately snowball into another rebuild though..
I wasn’t expecting a proper detail, as a retired detailer this makes me happy. ❤
Loving the nugget builds!
This channel is by far better than any advert to sell me a George. Now I need to get one for my smelly old car.
Always a good day when garbage time uploads! Love the car
Usually my favourite yt watch of the week, no joke lol
@@JeffDvrx close second for me tbh
I love this so much. Had a 94 Corolla, looked just like this one, that I rode up to 250,000 miles and I loved it so much. Miss that little go kart of a car
I still want a full collection of the "car trading cards"!! Please make it happen!!
Spamming 0 on the keyboard to continuously restart the video has brought me much joy.
12:50 you should try to install a wireless charging pad in there for your phone
I really like your attitude towards most things you show on your channels. Drums? Yeah just get whatever shells and new heads and used broken cymbals, it's fine mate. Car? Ah, quick George job inside, it runs, it's fine. Nice.
3:04 I love how he started like getting mad and sad about James wiping it off😭😭
Every time you find a coin in the car, it makes my little goblin brain light up. It's so fun to find old coins and little treasures!
Ah, this reminds me of high school. Massive subwoofers in horrible cars that never get any maintenance. good times
missing the giant wheels and rubber band tires
How dare Tony be good at something.
Happy birthday The car! also this looks nice!! i love nugget aussie builds!
Thanks to you, I was shy to by used car, but your vids prooved to me that its okay.. I just bought an old skoda fabia. It's not new, not powerfull, but I am completely happy with it, that's fun to ride an old car, there is soul in it!
14:32 the Honda at 3 am
It's car.
It drives.
Under its own power. That's it. Nothing more. Now shuffle along and don't bother it.
4:42 HUH??
Ah yes, the Sony Boxing Gloves. Now in automotive form.
Tell Frank I named my truck after her, it's a 90 f150
I messaged you on patreon about a year ago about car audios and its so good to see it come to fruition haha. Awesome. :)
13:33 did you set the crossover to 250Hz??? why???? i'd set it as low as possible with that massive sub, assuming it has decent response down around 50 Hz. 250 Hz is insanely high though, and the subs aren't going to be doing much of anything haha
Man, the shaking boot lid takes me back to early 00s outside Revs and hearing the boys doing chap laps 😂
My wife on our anniversary night:
11:20
Doesn't fit
As soon as I saw those subs go in, I knew we were gonna have a proper Scarlett Fire smell, and boy was she smelly. Thank you for delivering.
0:26 they must have a lot of bmw’s there😢
I don't know if anyone mentioned this but the coin with the car year under the seat is supposed to bring good luck, keep it there mate!
