When you listen to all of STP, you realize how much they like the Beatles, Bowie, Pink Floyd, etc. Sad that all the favorite singers of my youth Cornell, Staley and Weiland are dead. Some great, great music and happy to see the love for Tiny Music.
@Westward Thinking to late for that now. Travis Meeks is the only amazing grunge singer alive and hes homeless and about as bad as layne Staley in his last years.
@Westward Thinking alice in chains is darker than any death metal band. It's dark but it's the story of a heroin addict predicting his death. I love alice. Imo nobody could sing better live than layne Staley. He had some insane power and sustain rasp. That's just my opinion.
@Westward Thinking i talked to him a few times but I don't know him on a personal level just his x. I was almost in days of the new with Travis Meeks lol. But yea dax acid bath, agents of oblivion, and his solo stuff is probly my second favorite singer after layne Staley.
Hi, man, just wanted to say I loved this video. You had great criteria to rank each album and provided great, useful comments on each (what album's the heaviest, what album they found their unique sound in, what album they experimented the most on, etc.). Discovered STP with Purple and I followed along your ranking to explore the rest of their albums, which was just great. Keep up the great work!
#4 and Purple are my favs .. #4 was originally the comeback album after tiny music .. I’ll always remember the year it came out .. two bands trying to get back to their hard years .. Smashing Pumpkins with Machina and STP#4.. you think 2010 is similar to PURPLE ?? Shit I’d die if that were the case lol
One of my fave bands, my ranking would be: 1. Purple 2. Core 3. Tiny Music 4. No 4 5. Shangri La Dee Da 6. Self titled (2010) 7. Self titled (2018) 8. Perdida
Yes, same top 5 ranking. Tiny music is my fav, too. Underrated😎 Wish I heard that before Core but most people probably start there, for obvious reasons
I can't believe so many people like Core more than Purple, blows my mind. Core was copying every other band at the time, Purple was when they developed a style of their own. That's always been my favorite.
Core is much more grunge but these days I like purple . I'm a grunge purest . If it's not from Seattle I don't listen to much non Seattle bands of that time.
Of course it’s 90s grunge grunge “core” came out when I was a soph in HS.. grad in 95 😉 .. purples sound was born after the CROW soundtrack .. prepped us for purple .. and great production .. Brendan O’Brian and Nick DaDia.. TINY MUSIC was ALL OVER THE PLACE.. took me actually awhile to have it grow on me after purple .. Scott’s Voice was fried during it.. plus having them record the album outside by the pool in a rented Haunted Mansion lol
HARD DISAGREE on ranking both Jeff albums on the bottom. But thanks a bunch for finally making this. I think I requested it from you awhile back actually haha I personally adore the Jeff albums, especially as someone who got into STP in 2012. These albums are to me what albums like No. 4 and Tiny Music were to STP fans in the 90s and are both some of my favorite albums of all time. But as far as Scott Temple Pilots go 6. Peace 5. Tiny Music 4. Shangri La Dee Da 3. Purple 2. No.4 1. Core. The Deleos never made really heavy rock without Scott for some reason but Core and No. 4 go as hard as anything AiC did. Wish they'd give Jeff something to cut his teeth on since he was a Nu-Metal singer back in the day

STP is definitely a good band. 8 Self Titled (2018) (Yeah it sucks) 7 Perdida (It’s better but not close to the best. I do like Folk though so this is a decent record) 6 Shangri-La Dee Da (Definitely experimental but I do like the Shoegaze/Trippy moments) 5 Purple (This might be really controversial but I just think they have made better, still a really good album) 4 No.4 (This is where I think these album gets really great) 3 Self Titled (2010) (This is a major guilty pleasure lol, it was my 1st experience with STP. I have a lot of fun with this album, I’ll defend the fuck out of this album ) 2 Core (It’s a Masterpiece, one of the best 90s albums) 1 Tiny Music (Hey we have the same #1, I love this album so much, it’s experimental but it works SO well. Amazing album 10/10 record, so many influences)
Worst to best IMO (Weiland era only): 6. Stone Temple Pilots (2010) 5. Shangri-La Dee Da (2001) 4. N.4 (1999) 3. Core (1992 - great, but aged badly to my ears) 2. Tiny Music (1996) 1. Purple (1994)
Stone Temple Pilots was very popular when I was in high school and so were all the grunge bands. I dont think you have to guess too hard what was popular when I was in grade school. One guilty pleasure of mine is Dokken. Do you like them? But I will say I consider both bands to be rock and not metal. Dirt to me is a metal album and blows most albums out of the water for me. So have you heard Dokken?
@@pairofjeansreviews2034 musically I agree but Scott lost the low gritty voice so for that reason I rank them lower with each album. #1core #2 purple #3tiny music #4 number 4 #5 shangrila De da #6 the self titled last with Scott. The others I don't even count lol.
No.4 imo is their most underrated album, such well written harmonies and odd times tiny music is for me their most overrated album, its 5th easly for me...the other 4 of their classics are just more interesting

"I've been waiting for my Sunday girl"
Scott Weiland was incredible as a vocalist and a lyricist. We lost a true giant after he died. RIP
When you listen to all of STP, you realize how much they like the Beatles, Bowie, Pink Floyd, etc. Sad that all the favorite singers of my youth Cornell, Staley and Weiland are dead. Some great, great music and happy to see the love for Tiny Music.
Yeah they incorporated a lot fo really cool influences
Pretty Penny has always been imo a Beatles tribute
CORE is an only on its kind record. A truly gem from the 90's.
A super cool record!
The only one he used that low raspy voice. He kind of changed it to a higher pitched cleaner voice after purple.

One if my favorite bands. They proved and hopefully will continue to prove that great rock music can still be made.
Core is their best album, and Sin is underrated af!😁

Favorite song “adhesive love.” And all in the suit that you wear was a perfect all encompassing STP song
Love how positive this was! Definitely my favorite band, Purple is probably my favorite, but I listen to them all constantly.
Core is my personal favorite, but tbh, they never made a horrible album.

Swap Perdida (underrated with some truly beautiful songs) with Self Titled 2010 and we have identical lists which I was surprised by.
Great watch!

I saw Chester Bennington with Linkin Park in 2012. Sucks that we lost him in 2017, two years after Scott Weiland.
