I've absolutely loved getting a front row seat into seeing this house transform into the home that I always knew it could be - and now it's your turn to see! I have to admit: I was team green until I saw that blue go up!! It complements the yard so well! It’s perfect as usual Jessica! I love your eye for design. If you find you’re getting any movement behind the carriage lights you could add mounting blocks. They’re typically used on vinyl siding to add stability behind lights and other fixtures. My complements to all involved in this project! Y’all are real troopers working in this heat!! I’m ready to see the tile! 💙

Jessica, everything looks fabulous! The color of the house, the trim, and all of the various accessories and textures of the flower pots, took the home to another level. The removal of the shutters was a game changer! The black door adds a level of elegance to the home. Girl you all did so good! Thank you!!!!! This was such a sweet message! This exterior project took all of the real estate in my brain - it's all I could think about for the last 2 weeks. I wanted to love it and was so scared that I would make the wrong decision. I didn't want to have any regrets. Once i told myself "no matter what you choose, it's going to be an amazing upgrade" I finally felt at ease and I'm so happy with the result. Even if I would have chosen the green, it still would have looked incredible - but I really do love the blue. I really do feel like removing the shutters upgrades the house a bit. They didn't have a purpose and like I said in the video, the blue and almond gives enough pop on the house, that a third color wasn't needed. I'm so glad that you agree with the decisions made - I'm so in love with every single detail!

I was really resistant to the black door, but like I said - once it was painted, I was like "that's it"!!!! You are absolutely right! She (we, in fact) have been burning the midnight oil to get everything finished, and she/we have not really been able to sit back and enjoy a cocktail on the porch while sitting in rocking chairs! (plus it's been really hot here in NC this past week or two)

Hi friend!!!! So happy that you love it all. It's been a LONG time coming and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out! Oh how I wish I could have prepared a cocktail that day - but in addition to it being so crazy hot, we've been without a kitchen for a week because of the tile work - and guess where all my liquor is???!!! Rookie move, lol!!!!! But now that we'll soon be getting our kitchen back, a cocktail on the front porch is happening for sure! So stay tuned for next week - I'll make up for the missing cocktail this week! 🤣

Thank you!!! I stressed myself out so much over the color of the house. I knew back when I first painted the blue sample on the house that that was it - but I kept second-guessing that decision. I'm so glad that I finally let go, and went with it because it really does look so good!!

Maybe someday she'll make a 'making of' or a 'behind the scenes' video. It could be interesting. Hint: It's amazing how different it is to not be able to enter the kitchen area or the only downstairs bathroom due to the construction going on with the flooring (that you'll see next week). We've had most of a week where just to wash my hands I have to go up a flight of stairs, and we've had some meals prepared in either a toaster oven or the gas grill outside (microwave is in the kitchen and we are not able to walk on the flooring until it's all done and the mortar and grout is fully dry). Hahahahaha! All I was allowed was one deep breath - and now onto the next project. But I promise after that project, I'm going to veg out on the beach somewhere for several days! I'm so glad that you love it and that it turned out even better than you imagined it would be. We love it so much and now every time I walk outside, or drive up to the house - I smile and feel really proud. It was a long time coming, but it's finally done and couldn't love it more!
I was lying in bed this morning and a notification popped up and it was today’s episode! I hit the button and sat steadfast in bed to see the reveal…Damn! I must commend you guys for the phenomenal beauty that has become a totally new look…Jessica you and Mark’s vision came to life…GORGEOUS! I really had to reserve judgement on the outside painting but to my surprise it looks amazing! Quite chic…it is so welcoming and looks so inviting and as well peaceful…I adore plants and flowers beautiful pots and baskets with plants…the work that you two have put into your home is nothing short of stunning…love it so much…I am a fan of wood stained doors and I truly think either wood or the black would have been fantabulous! Thank you Jen - I really appreciate that! We have put endless hours of time turning this house into a home that we both love. It's one thing for us to make all these big decisions, but then to share it with the world and having to be open to other people's opinions is......well, overwhelming at times. Yes❤ The house looks amazing. It's classy. That blue took it to a whole new level. It looks majestic like House Beautiful. I love it. I think for that small area you could relocate the bushes to another area and replace them with three topiaries. You could trim the area with red bricks or those grayish rocks. The topiaries could be centered in the middle. They could be round at the top. That might work or standard bushes or a rose bush with white or sterling roses. Just a thought. A Hydrangea bush might look nice too. Everything looks beautiful.
Hi Loretta! I had to look up the definition of 'topiary'. I've heard the word plenty of times, but I realized I did not know what you meant. I have since Googled it and it makes sense. I am not sold on the Hydrangea but my reasoning is that the ones that I've had in the past tend to get really large, really quickly. We have a couple of 2-ball or 3-ball topiary bushes in the backyard, one on either side of the shed, and those specific ones might be too tall for the front of the house. But, I get the idea as they visually are interesting! We have a great garden center around here (called Kiefer Nursery) and I bet we could ask them to show us some ideas for one or more topiary plants. Good suggestion, and thank you!
Hi Loretta!!! Those are great ideas! I would LOVE a hydrangea bush in the front - but the one that we have in the back yard is massive and I fear that it may cover up the view to the porch. Otherwise, I would 100% put hydrangeas in that area as they are my favorite flower. I do like the idea of 3 small bushes that we keep maintained so they do grow too large. We'll see what we come up with but that area has me stumped. I also love your idea of adding bricks or rocks like we put around the mailbox! It looks STUNNING!!!! The colors are perfect (the almond trim is so much more elegant than white would be). No shutters is definitely the way to go. The styling is just perfection and I love the black furniture on the porch...such a nice place to have a cocktail when it's NOT 97 degrees!. (we are getting that weather this week in central NYS) It is all just gorgeous!!!

Boxwoods are good bushes for the front they are slow growers but are great for a great manicured look
Jessica and I don't fully agree on choice of plants yet. We have several boxwoods in the back and I'm voting for something a bit more interesting than a boxwood for the front. I don't know what that would be (what would be more interesting, won't grow too tall, and won't require too much maintenance?). I appreciate any and all suggestions, and so thank you for the suggestion. We'll see. Boxwoods remain a feasible option. I am less sold on it than Jessica at this time.
I agree that boxwoods are a great option, we would just need to keep them low so they won't hide the beautiful porch. The one great thing about boxwoods is they require very little care - outside of the occasional "hair trim" lol!!! We'll see what we end up with - we may have to call in the professionals for this one! Thanks so much for your suggestions!!

In the front door garden bed, try some low growing shrubs..like those blue spruce low level shrubs or any shrub that doesn't obstruct the view of your pretty front door area

Hi, your new home color looks amazing. Suggestion…I would like to see more content in the videos and less of the long introductions and verbal conversations prior to the content footage.
Thank you!!! I so love how everything turned out - night and day difference for sure. In terms of the flow of my videos, the reason why I selected to share my content on UA-cam is because I love long-form content. I'm a story teller, I'm obsessed with documentaries, and I'm a sucker for details. I want to know the why, the how, the when, the who - all of it. Because of that passion, that is why my videos are a little longer. I know that Instagram and TikTok has trained our brains into thinking that we can only consume very short bits of content - but for me, that just isn't what I love. I'm the one on TikTok that will listen to the full 10-minute video - because I truly want to know every single detail. I do, however, try my hardest to keep things as brief as I can - but in terms of the long intro and outro of this video - I felt it to be important to keep all of the details in. And if people only wanted to see the before and afters, then they always have the option to fast-forward if they chose to. My hope is that my community will want to have those details, but I completely understand if you just want to scrub through to the end. I hope in the future that time will allow me to also create YT shorts or IG reels. That way if you just want to see the before and afters you can see that content quickly - and then if you want all the details, of course there is UA-cam. I do appreciate your suggestion and hope this explanation gives some insight into my thinking on the other side of the screen. Regardless, thank you for being here! ❤
