(Goes to google, comes up empty-handed. I need clues 😊) That’s a great question. I will try to not overthink it. Having documented my life most of my writing career, where I have written essays, articles, and books, and now venturing into videos, during the experience gets a little hectic, I admit. Sometimes my husband has expressed frustration because I am busy documenting. In the spirit of keeping family vacations more chill, I try not to go overboard. That said, writing and filming makes me key into details that I think I otherwise would overlook, whether they be visual, auditory, all the sensory experiences. My goal in documenting is to convey the experience to someone else like they’re actually there. When I am able to do that, not only does my audience respond positively, I personally appreciate reliving the experience again, enjoying the memories that I otherwise would forget. So I think overall the answer is I find more meaning in my experiences by documenting them.
