I had a similar accident a few years back with my GB Small Forest, also ended up with stitches (on my forefinger). When asked about the scar I always say "I stopped using my brain but didn't stop using my axe." 🙂
My uncle lived in millstreet County Cork which is where my mother was from God rest her soul. By the way sorry to hear you cut your hand on the axe it's easy done when I was watching that alone program I saw a few accidents happening like that cheers David !
By the way Wooley it was nice to talk to you sorry it was so early . Your a good guy & your dogs are nice too. They are your best friends Wooly they don't talk behind your back either, well maybe just a little bit ? ha ha tee hee ! But seriously they will never stab you in the back bruv . Yes I noticed the comment someone someone left you re Bruno and I don't agree I can see you adore your dogs and would never see harm come to them you would defend them with your life so don't worry about nasty comments your a good guy wooley and I like and enjoyed your videos all the best David
I appreciate the video mate! iv been a knife guy since ever, just reacently tho axes have grabbed my attention because they are more capable, and i have realised that in my area the wood is bloody knotty and hard to split, rarely did i ever not struggle to batton with my knife out in the bush. was looking at this axe and also looking for a review of it as my mind was split between the gransfors bruk and hultaforse hunters axe. Video helped my decision! Now i just gotta get better at axe stuff with my fiskars 28 inch chopping axe, and when i have proved that to my self only then ill order this beauty. cheers! Chris
Hi Wooley please can i ask you can you confirm that your halterfors hunters axe is the eklund axe version 0.85 850g head total 1.210g 20 inch handle ? The reason I ask is because halterfors make another lighter version of the hunters axe called the halterfors Dvardala hunters and forestry axe o.7 700g head, total 960g, 17 inch handle I just wanted to make sure as I watched your review a while back. I expect the heavier one is nicer for chopping but still light enough ? Do you have any advice for me on weight and size handle to be honest I'm also interested in bushcraft axes that can be thrown as well say Axes around 16-17 or even 19 inch, 1lb 9oz - 2lb 2oz total.weight. I will probably get a cheap estwing metal handle hatchet for throwing and keep my nice axe for bushcraft ect though. All the best David
I think when I got mine hultafors didn't have these named axes , and they were a lot cheaper than they are now , I'm out at the minute but I'll have a look when I'm home
A great axe indeed, and dirt cheap compared to something like a Hults bruk/Gränsfors. I have both, and i mean, an axe is an axe.. they all have quality control, so. Thumbs up!
Sorry there was no needto ask just habbit asking by good old fashioned word of mouth I could give looked online. The price in uk have come back down to £1.100 up to £1.500 for kc pups around these parts . Nice of you to share. My last dog Gem was irish staffie with a little tiny white splash on her chest a stunning girl I bought down in ply.outh by word of mouth through friends took her for training socialisation classes for first time I trained all my other dogs before myself. Definitely managed to get some amazing training done she turned out beautiful she was a pleasure to take in anybody's home she would behave herself if anything I over socialised her because you wouldn't bark at the door but we didn't mind we loved her all my family dead if I showed you a photo you would know what I mean stunning just like Bruno . Going back to axes I do like the look of the hallsbruk hunting axe , but allso the council tools flying fox sport . What do you think of the council tools one Dave
From the way you wield that axe so carelessly around a dog that is equally as carefree as it noses around the sharp bit, to the way you split a log while still holding it with an ungloved hand...This video should really just be a "what not to do" safety video for those looking to get into axes.
@@chrisryder8736 Not much could really be said. I mean if you get called out dead to rights for being a bonehead, all you can really do is just be like "have a nice day", and hope that being the bigger person masks your shortcomings.

yes, so smaller trees will compete for light and nutrients with bigger trees, so by thinning out the smaller trees you are giving the bigger and stronger trees a better chance of reaching full maturity. also this a planted forest of non native species that i am slowly replacing with native irish species
Snap...and surprisingly a tikky better than the GB SFA. Geometry is different. 👍
Exactly! Way better and far better value

I have a Hults Bruk Ekelund Hunting axe. It was expensive, but I love it. Comes with a lifetime warranty as well, though I doubt I’ll ever need it.
Fantastic pieces of kit

Sweet axe. Like it better than GFB SFA
Yes, you will be pissed and in no state to swing an axe
Thanks!

This is the Ekelund David. The Dvardala has more of a hybrid head and a tad shorter in the handle.

Dave(trog)
Yes David , Bruno is a German short haired pointer, fantastic dog
Did you cut live tree ?
Yes I did, it's a managed forest, I'm thinning it
@@RedBranchBushcraft
Is this useful for the forest?
Can you please explain for me ?
I want to understand it.
yes, so smaller trees will compete for light and nutrients with bigger trees, so by thinning out the smaller trees you are giving the bigger and stronger trees a better chance of reaching full maturity.
also this a planted forest of non native species that i am slowly replacing with native irish species
I’m happy to hear that! Ireland definitely needs more reforestation! What kind of native species are planting?
Oak, cherry, silver birch, crab apple , loads of stuff
I just realised the time of I hope I didn't disturb you wooley. I keep odd hours these days sorry about that mate
Lol, no worries
Pourquoi il coupe un arbre ?
Sorry buddy, I don't understand
its a managed forest , the smaller trees are taken down to give light and more resources to the bigger trees and im replanting with native species
@@RedBranchBushcraft ok 👌
