My 2022 HTC build was submitted for production 11/11/2021. Just prior to going in, my salesman informed me that the Splash Guards were on constraint. To avoid any production delay, I asked them to be removed from the order. They were to be a dealer installed option anyway.
I went searching for Splash Guards on the internet and decided on the ACS Rock Guards.
At $499 plus taxes, the total came to $528. A little pricey for “Mud Flaps”, but IMO, they seem to be the best out there. They area a nice product and of course, you get what you pay for!
Glad I found your Channel, I have been looking at vets from 2015-2020 I’m learning a great deal of information from your Channel I’m still looking for the right color and right interior but so far no luck yet
What does it matter how low the rock guards are for heavens sake they are directly behind the wheels. I believe the wheels and tires will clear a path. This was a good video thank you for sharing all the good information.

My 2009 C6 Z51 Crystal Red Tintcoat has the optional Chrome Wheels that were about an additional $1,900.
The C6 was too nice to trade or sell and since I have the garage space, I decided to keep it. 😘
If I get a ZO6 allocation, then I’ll need to make a decision. 🤔

I work at a GM Dealership. I've just worked on a 2022 Corvette with the High wing spoiler package. The part is distributed by pre-delivery parts and will have to work with whatever company that distributes those add on parts for PDI. I had a Corvette that was delivered on Saturday afternoon and already had spoiler waiting for install. I'd say whoever delivers your PDI parts should be where to look at, not GMs fault.

Hi Rick! Thanks for love. We have a package coming your way as well as something for Chuck to help with the removing and re-installing wheels ;) Regarding Jacking Pucks, the current size is a compromise for those with floor jacks at home versus the four-point lifts that dealers/bodyshops have access too. A larger puck would prevent getting the jack underneath the car. We are working on some new solutions ;)
The high wing spoiler should be installed at the factory not at the dealer LPO's are stupid.
Very good “Tech Talk” episode. I hope those watching caught the importance of the points you and Chuck discussed in the first half of this Vlog. I watched it twice and took notes. I like being “informed” whenever I take my car in for service. Thanks, Rick!
I've installed ACS parts on my c8 and couldn't be more satisfied with the workmanship.
ACS products are very good. Installed rock guards and other paint savers on our C7.
Rick, I feel you are definitely getting ripped off by GM. The Z51 package comes with that spoiler for that set price. If you pay to upgrade to the high wing and you never receive the original Z51 spoiler you have already purchased, then that by law is 100% felony theft based on the price of the spoiler. Meaning, you pay for the Z51 spoiler and don't receive it, then you pay for the additional high wing spoiler! The only way GM can balance this situation out is if the original Z51 spoiler cost was removed when the high wing option is added or a discounted price to offset the transaction for the high wing. Simply put, "You pay for 2 spoilers and only receive 1"... It will be interesting to see when the lawsuits will begin!
Good luck with lawsuit. There's labor costs for the dealer to install high wing. Chevy could always include Z51 wing and charge more for high wing.
Are there any other “suitable lifting/jacking points” other than where the pucks are located?
I have a set of “red pucks” that will give mechanics a clue as to the jacking points if they are unfamiliar with C8s. The color standing out vs blending in of course.
Thicker pucks are better, but you may lose a MPH or two on the top end lol! 😂

GM legally can not do this when it clearly states the Z51 spoiler is included with the Z51 package at time of ordering. There are also zero notifications anywhere on the website or ordering guide that the Z51 spoiler will be omitted if the high wing is ordered.
I’m fully expecting my car to now arrive without the Z51 wing since I ordered the high wing as well. I preemptively contacted my lawyer to begin preparing a lawsuit if GM fails to deliver the product as ordered. It’s not even about the money; it’s the principle of it.
I added ACS's front splitter, rockers, and splash guards. All went on easily and look great.

GM should then knock off a few hundred bucks off of the price of a high wing since your not getting a choice and there is less labour involved

Do you know if the non-Z51 2022’s ordered with the High Wing spoiler also come with the rear bumper pre-drilled? Seems that would save the Dealers some time and complexity for installation.

Great video today Rick!!! Love the tech tip and the info on not getting the regular Z51 spoiler when ordering the high wing!!! Even though some my sell the “extra” spoiler I think for most it’s actually more hassle than it’s worth! Especially if you’re low on storage space at the house.I think those ACS rock guards are a great fit and will definitely improve keeping debris from possibly damaging the side of the C8. Enjoyed the rides segment today too! Still dreaming but one day I’ll be driving!!!
The black doors accent (boomerangs) doesn’t look right on any exterior colors except black. I ordered mine with matched exterior color.

I didn’t like any of the wheel options, not one! I found a set of chrome wheels almost right away. Corvette should offer at least one set of chrome wheels 👍👍

I dont think it's such bad thing not getting the Z-51 spoiler when you order the high wing. Less hassle for the tech dealing.with the double sided tape, and reduces the possibility of paint damage from the removal. I was so in love with the look of the car after the accessory install I forgot to ask about my Z wing. Just as well, it would have ended up as garage porn on the wall and I have enough of that already. Lol!
Good to hear your a supporter of ACS products. I plan on getting the 1V splitter from them. I haven’t decided if I’m going to get the 1V rockers, $1700 is a bit steep. Also wonder if the pucks you showed were from ACS. I was looking to get those too but not sure now.
Well, I ordered my 2020 Vette in February of 2020. I finally received it on 0ct. 2, 2021 as a museum delivery. I ordered the splash guards, but they were not on the vehicle. The Edge red engine cover and the Carbon flash rockers were also not on or with the vehicle, nor did my dealer have possession of the items. I have considered the ACS splash guards but they cost twice as much and I already spent the money for the OEMs. I also ordered the all weather mats and they were not included either.

Description states not for use on high wing, but thinking it may still provide sufficient coverage (given there aren’t any outdoor high wing options). Thanks for all you do!

I guess the next one I get from you I will order the standard Z51spoiler so it comes with the car and buy an additional high wing and swap them out so I can have the standard Z51 spoiler to use some other time or sell down the road.
So is the Z51 High wing delayed and will be delivered later and installed by the dealer? You were not clear on why the holes would be pre-drilled if the high wing spoiler was never going to be delivered? Any clarification would be appreciated.
No not delayed....does not come installed on the car the high wing to big for shipping - we were talking about the standard Z51 spoiler gone in lieu of getting high wing now..before you used to get both when ordering Z51 and high wing - thanks for watching
They don't put the high wing on because it won't fit over the transit car cover
Given the confusion around about the C8 jacking points, the redder the pucks the better.
both work fine, I like the look of the red ones, I guess a lot depends on what you are using to lift the car - either ones work!
@@RickCorvetteConti: I’m just thinking maybe someday someone less competent than Chuck, say, might be lifting the car and think twice about where the proper lift points are if there are bright red (perhaps thicker) pucks mounted at the right spots. I’m thinking back to an early video of yours where, initially, Chuck was confused (possibly the first C8 he had on a lift) and used the wrong lift points. Not all techs, though, will be as responsible as Chuck was and go to the effort to add additional support to steady the car as he did before he discovered the proper lift points.

I love their products on my C8 as well…especially the exhaust! That Red Mist HTC with the low profile spoiler has me thinking now 🤦🤦🤦 Would love to see more angles!
Generally speaking, a wing and a spoiler are two different things and serve two different purposes. A wing generates downforce, which is simply the opposite of lift and results in more rear tire grip, with higher speeds resulting in more of it and thus more grip. However, as with many things, there are limits: driver skill and the tires in this case. Furthermore, it comes at a cost in the form of what is known as induced drag which results from either lift, as with an aircraft, or downforce with regard to a car. It’s ‘robbing Peter to pay Paul’ so to speak.
A spoiler on the other hand serves to reduce drag by preventing the airflow off the back of a car from tumbling like a waterfall, which results in drag. And it’s that drag that reduces fuel mileage. And since CAFE regulations apply vehicle manufacturers have to find ways to improve fuel mileage. And reducing drag aids in that endeavor, even on high performance street cars.
Btw have a C7 ZR1 with the ZTK option and love the Michelin PS Cup2 tires. They’re the closest thing to full-on race rubber as one can get and be street legal. At least when they’re relatively new. I’m on my 4th set and get about 10K miles per set, partly due to the fact it’s rather hot where I live and my right foot clearly has a mind of its own. Lastly, its handling characteristics and steering wheel inputs feel more like the aircraft I fly. For example I often don’t have to turn the wheel, but instead simply apply pressure. It’s almost telepathic in that sense which I primarily attribute to the tires and suspension tuning.

ACS has quality composite parts. Hope they will sponsor your channel. Jacking pucks can be ordered thicker. Be careful about installing the bolt in place thicker pucks that remain in place while driving. They may be too thick and pose a danger of hitting road objects. I really love these tech videos with you and Father Chuck.

I personally think you’re getting screwed because when you order the Z 51 ,the one spoiler comes with the Z 51 package and when you order the high wing you still should get the other spoiler because you already paid for it and you’re paying more for the high spoiler

Wheels are terrible on c8. Fans of black wheels aren’t happy cause that lip looks terrible, and the chrome fans don’t even get a choice.

Why such negativity? Everyone has their own personal preferences with what is THERE dream car not yours. Be supportive and positive even if it not what you would choose. I just got my C8 red mist with black stripe and high wing and to me it is my dream car and wouldn’t change a thing. Promote and compliment all car enthusiasts. Makes a better world.
Check out Spectra Chrome. It is sprayed on like paint. It may be cheaper than having a set of wheels dipped!
