The increased power of the iPad Pro is mostly negated by iPadOS not taking advantage of it. The battery life on every iPad is insufficient.
I love my M1 IPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard. It’s always ready for me to quickly start jotting down ideas or write script.
I recently purchased on refurb'd iPad 10 on eBay and got a 3rd party keyboard/case on Amazon. I'm really impressed with the iPad because I wasn't looking for a laptop replacement, I already have one. The iPad is used for content consumption and texting, light duty stuff.
Thanks for sharing. Blessings on your day.
I really enjoy your videos - especially iPad content
Another great vid! Thanks for this comparison… good way to reference those who can’t determine why iPad Pro users pick it.
10.5 Pro still going strong!!!!!
Just upgraded from a iPhone 12 mini to an iPhone 15 pro. Never could afford pro model apple products before. Definitely opened my eyes and has me questioning my decision on this 10th gen IPad. It’s a great IPad but the benefits and features of pro model products seems like a better investment over time when you consider which products apple prioritizes with features and updates.
2:44 I believe it’s a hardware controller, not necessarily the “software side of things“. If it was the “software side of things“ then someone would’ve been able to hack and override the USB-C port on the standard iPad to make it compatible with the same thing that the iPad Pro is compatible with.
iPad OS and iPhone OS are locked down more tightly than Mac OS. Developers can no doubt create interesting utilities and Apps (for M1/M2-based iPads) to close the "feature gap" with Mac OS....but Apple has the final say. If side-loading or a fully open alternative to the App Store becomes a thing....the iPad/iPhone will devolve in a gooey chocolate mess.
The 9th generation is the bottom end/the most cheap iPad. Apple still sells it brand new too…. The 10th gen is a mediocre value (unless refurbished). $450 isn’t budget/entry anymore and becomes intermediate/mid priced.
Yeah, we still buy those along with the logitech combo touch keyboard case and they're great! Just wish they had the native external monitor support.
i wish they would make a Baller Pro, case that you could drop and not worry, dual thunderbolt lanes, NOT A Splitter, largest Airline battery, 16 or more in ram, M3 Max 8tb storage, and HDMI Capture. id pay 4G
Good haircut Chris
The screen is the biggest factor for me. The pro screen is way better if you’re doing any editing etc. Everyday iPad use I think the 10 inch is just fine you won’t notice the speed difference. Plus the Apple Pencil lack of magnetic charging is a big factor for me. I would get a iPad Air 4 used before I’d get a 10 inch.
That 9 hour battery life only applies when the ipad is new. After a few months, battery life deteriorates rapidly to the point where you are shocked that your battery has already died.
Stage manager feels pointless in the iPad pro. Makes no sense how people complain about the 13.6 inch MacBook air feeling cramped for multitasking then layering windows on top of one another on a not even 13 inch tablet
$449 can get you a base iPad Air 5 M1......$599 at the Apple Store but Best Buy, AMZ and other on-line retailers still have NEW units available for the $449 price as of Apr 2024
Likely was doing msrp pricing
I want to focus a bit on the media consumption on iPad and especially iPad pro. Its just not good enough and this comes down to the aspect ration of the iPad were 40% of your screen is black bar and the miniled screen is so bloomy (you can see it in the video). I swear consuming media on iPhone 15 pro max is more immersive and if you want a bigger image size, a MacBook Pro M3 will be much better. In general I find the iPad Pro to be a really bad product and absolutely not worth the price relative to the other devices (even Vision Pro)
It'll be its not it's - in the title of your video. 🎉 Loved your video though!😊
wait WWDC or buy ?
Wait. You will either buy the new models or get the older at a lower price.
9th gen can be had for $250. I've tried to like the iPad. Can I really accomplish a professional task? I honestly can say no. It's too locked down to be effective.
There is one question that nobody answers when comparing ipad to iPad pro which is the most critical question.
What apps can ipad pro that ipad can’t?
I was pretty disappointed to learn that iPad pro can’t run a MacOS version of excel.
I mean for the price you are paying, you SHOULD be able to run desktop apps. The memory is there, the cores are there, the storage is there. So why cant a pro run desktop apps?
Why cant they just make a tablet that runs MacOS instead of IOS?
It makes buying the pro near pointless.
And what do we care if it connects to a monitor? Thats what a laptop/desktop is for.
Ipad is a PORTABLE device.
Why can’t they empower our portable devices with MacOS if we are paying MacOS prices?
Wow great point so just so I understand what apps can you run on the iPad for productivity
@@MStar10 There are watered versions of everything for iPad. MS Office, Final Cut, Logic Pro. But they don't have near the features or functionality that their desktop counterparts have even though the desktops are all running on SoC (systems on a chip) just like tablets and the M2s in the high end tablets have 16gb ram and 8 cores. This is what the high end laptops and desktops were running on with old motherboard architecture only a few years ago that all ran the desktop versions of Excel, Final cut, etc.
All the hardware is there for a tablet to run desktop apps for sure so the only thing that stops it is the OS.
From a consumer standpoint, unless you are buying something really cheap, it makes no sense for there to be a separate OS for Tablet and desktop anymore.
I guess it's a different story if you are the one selling them.
@@sethother8012 got it thanks! Yes then makes no sense as a laptop replacement
I have an iPad Pro M1. I love it as it is. But I will never buy another one ever again. Not worth the price. The software experience is good for $400-500.. I was thinking of I should upgrade to the roving ones but I’m gonna skip buying iPads.. my current one is great with PWM and has performance I need but as a tablet.. not I wanna use it as a work device anymore. Better wait for windows on ARM or buy a Mac today
The problem with iPads is they just don't perform like the iMacs, the MacBooks or even the iPhones. The battery is weak pretty much from new, and don't expect that they will still be able to function much past 3 or 4 years. I have a 9.7 iPad Pro w/the first generation pencil and it has pretty much become just a paperweight. The next generation will have to become a much better performance machine before I will buy again.
Most of the features could be on every iPad, Apple just removes them to make you pay more. The "Pro" moniker is just pay more, nothing pro about it.
Cmon man. Compare 10.9 iPad with the 11” iPad Pro, not the 12.9”. I have both 11” pro and 10.9 base model in my house (my kid uses the base model) and the base iPad is a great device. You ought to compare the typing experience, Stage Manager, etc on iPad Pro 11 with the 10.9. Na plainly I turn off Stage Manager on the 11” a lot of the time.
Buy the pro refurbished, can get it for 600. Best buy sells used too
It got its name because it’s more expensive. No brainer.
Just say you hate base ipad😂
Ipad Pro is more like iPad 120hz. That's all I care about.
If you want a laptop buy a laptop an iPad Pro is not a laptop.
Forget iPad Pro, just buy a laptop.
😂
For a total of $550 (along with 0% financing) I just purchased the iPad Air 5 (M1) with a Brydge-branded keybd/trackpad. All the power I need as a de facto laptop with all the flexibility of an iPad.
Dry erase marker as your Apple Pencil, you’re good to go
Wow! That was the most original comment, like, ever. >Yawn< Obviously you’re just one of that crowd who just don’t “get” iPad, and can’t imagine why someone would not want to use a traditional desktop OS. That’s OK, Apple is not losing any sleep over you as they count their multi-millions in revenue from satisfied iPad buyers.
People who know what they want will get what they want. If you want a full fledged laptop you were never going to buy the iPad to begin with
It is very difficult to make the iPad a productive device when the base is 100% iOS.
