Your English accent is fascinating. It's Israeli/Hebrew which is so odd as French is your first language. It also leans towards American which is again odd as you learned in Ireland and the UK. Could it be that English is a language spoken by a lot of American expats in Israel? Usually, Francophones absolutely cannot shake their French accents. I know a woman in her 60's who moved to the US from France when she was 8 years old, and she STILL has an accent. Love the channel. It's helping me with less formal aural comprehension. MBC.

Sehr gut! Your English sounds pretty fluent to me, though of course for any of us it depends on how much specialized vocabulary you can pick up too. English is ma langue maternelle; in 8th grade I found a book at the public library by Berlitz to "teach yourself" pa-rooski; alors au lycee j'ai fais mes premieres pas en francais. My only Hebrew is the shema yisrael--one family of neighbors, when I was a child, were Jewish; the mother was my mom's best friend. I can still recite: shema yisrael, adonai elohenu, adonai echod. I picked up some Pimsleur cd's years ago to learn some Japanese, but only remember "watashi wa nihongo ga sukoshi wakarimasu" and "O genki desu ka? Genki desu!" and a few other words. I really think everyone should learn Chinese, a language I haven't learned at all except for "ni hao." I'm envious of xiaomanyc, who seems to have picked up not only madarin but cantonese and various dialects.
Hi! I'm mexican, my native language is spanish, ofc, but I also speak English as you may notice, and I recently finished my studies in french, so those are my 3 languages til' now. I really started learning English when I was 13, I said "really" because I mean, I had english lessons in my school (since elementary and junior high) but those just weren't enough, so my parents signed me up in an English school and at first, I wasn't happy, I didn't enjoy it, I went there almost forced by them; in fact I remember I used to tell them that I didn't find a purpose studying English, I used to ask them what was it gonna be useful for, etc., but some day these feelings went away, I convinced myself that it'd be really important in the future to learn not only english but as many languages as possible and well, I finished studying english at 17, and almost immediately after that, I started studying french, which I quit cause I had to study a prep course to be ready to take the exam to enter the university, so I restarted studying while the pandemic was at its worse, I picked my french up, and after a year and a half I also finished studying french and I got ready for the DELF which I passed and now I have my B2 level in french for life, but I don't wanna stop there, I wanna keep improving both my english and my french, and in the future, study my 4th language, why not?
Omg your hebrew is the best i've ever seen on youtube. You sound naitive, and i couldnt even tell that you are french. I'm learning french for an year now and it's really motivates me to keep going:)
I have been binge watching all of your French videos and have gotten so familiar with you speaking French. I really enjoyed listening to your Spanish and Chinese as I practice them too. Thank you for all that you do!!!!
Chinese is really hard. The problem with foreign language is once you stop using it, you will forget it. I see this with many Japanese who do homestay in Australia. They get quite good, return to Japan and never use English. They eventually forget a lot. I have been studying Japanese for 18 years and I know if I stop, I will start to forget things. What made you get interested in learning Hebrew?
I'm from Nepal I can speak Newari (a different ethnic language and my mother tongue), Nepali, Hindi and English. I want to study in France so i am learning French. May be I will try and learn other languages some day. Thank you for your great videos. Really helpful 👍
J'apprends le français depuis six mois, but i feel that i need to practice a lot to get a good level, so i'm in that path. My last challenge is learning japanese because i really like anime and manga. And of course, i speak english, but i need to improve speaking fluently. Merci pour cette magnifique chaîne. Au revoir.
Have you heard of a language learning technique called 'natural acquisition'? It's basically where you learn like a baby learns and the native speaker does 90% of the teaching in the target language and uses a magazine for reference images. Do you think this is the best way to learn?
Hi Ryan, I did not know about that technique, very interesting I will read about it, thank you for sharing! I guess that this is kind of what I do with my students, I'm trying to speak only in French although sometimes I do speak English or Hebrew with them, for example to explain some grammar points :) But for sure, it's great to hear/read/speak as much French as possible and watching UA-cam videos in French is a great way to improve your French!
@@pieceoffrench you know, actually when I saw your other videos I quickly realised that you are using this technique (maybe without realising it!). That's why channels like yours are far more useful than just simple memorisation so I hope you keep it going.
I am from Hong Kong but my dad raised and talked to me for most of the time in English so I am more comfortable in English than Chinese. I can speak Cantonese(Chinese in China but mostly used in Hong Kong), Mandarin(Also Chinese but pronunciation in a different way compared to Cantonese), English and French but I still lack basic skills in French so I watch random French speaking videos to watch and learn and here I am now in Scotland learning French.
So surprised you think your Spanish is not good, I'm fluent in English and Spanish and hearing you speak all these languages has me over here with my mouth open! You're amazing & your Spanish is great! Please keep up with the French videos they are so helpful. :) One thing I'm struggling with right now learning French is how fast French speakers talk. It's hard to figure out what's being said but I'm sure it is like that learning every new language
Merci Emily, c'est gentil ! I've forgotten a lot of my Spanish but I have recently decided to get back to it! And regarding French people talking speed, it's true that it's not easy but the more you listen to French, the easier it will get 😊
Thumb up, Elsa. Very impressive! Your videos are so inspirational. Thank you. My mother tongue is Mongolian. I can speak in English comfortably and a little bit in German. I started learning Korean this year. I planned to learn French, because I wanna travel.
Hope you realize that as a person that speaks 5 languages you're a member of a special group ( only about 10 % of world's pop. speaks 5 languages ) .
It is sooo true when you are not using a certain language, you forget all about it (definitely the same case for me- I had an exchange in France for 6 months and I learnt some basic French for that. I thought I was at least good enough to cope with daily and simple conversations at that time. But then I went back home, Frech became a history for me😂. I lost the ability to manage a whole sentence within a few months due to no practice at all.) However, I have made up my mind to pick it up again- and that's why I had been recommended by UA-cam to your channel😄. You make very good videos really! And btw, as a Mandarin speaker, I agree 100% on what you said about Chinese- it's really hard to learn, as it is not a spelling language. It's made up of characters and those are the hardest part for one to learn- I have to admit that a Chinese can have trouble with recognising, understanding and memorising characters from time to time, lol. But let me give you some reassurance here- your pronunciation of Chinese words is good! Very clear and takes almost no effort to understand you (despite the way you tried to prounce the name of your uni, 😜).
I speak Spanish and English fluently.
Oh my goodness your American accent is great! Basically the only thing that gives away your Frenchyness (not a word I know), is the TH, which is totally understandable because I know that's really just an English thing and it's really hard for other people to say it. But wow, great accent (or lack thereof)!
I really want to learn french is a really beautiful languague. i can help you with spanish and you can help me with french :D saludos!!
Salut Elsa !
An interesting video, Elsa. I also speak five languages - English, French, German, Italian and Spanish (end even a bit of Irish - at least what I can remember from school). I live in Guadalajara, Mexico, where my wife is from, and she only speaks to me in Spanish. * Plus, I teach English and French in high school here. I also have some German friends, who live here and with whom I can practice German (they were also kidnapped from Europe in the dead of night by Mexican women!), but I've had to go back to doing Italian classes twice a week, as learning Spanish, displaced my Italian, which used to be completely fluent. They are too alike. So, I understand your confusion between Spanish and Hebrew, even though they are very different. * My question for you is, if you learned your English in Ireland and in the UK, why do you have a North American accent when you speak it? Surely, being French, you learned “British English”? Otherwise, that would be like me having learned Quebecois instead of Metropolitan French. * If I could learn a sixth language, I’d like to learn Arabic. I like its guttural sounds, and it is quite widely spoken, but I don’t know if I could learn a whole new alphabet. When you were learning Hebrew did you already know the alphabet, or did you just start by learning it phonetically? I loved watching the Netflix series “Fauda”, where I could hear both Hebrew and Arabic being spoken. A+
Interesting vid and I really enjoyed hearing as to how you ended up learning each language and why! Side note: there might be some grammatical errors in my Hebrew, like I said I don’t really speak, read, or write in the language often😁
Thank you Isabel! If you want to work on your Hebrew, you can also check out my other UA-cam channel that I have with my israeli boyfriend, it's called Piece of Hebrew tinyurl.com/ya3a8h6a
So I’m fluent in Spanish, In high school I took French for 2 years ( freshman and sophomore year) I then studied Chinese on my own for....*drumroll* 5 years!!! I started when I was 17 out of curiosity and fell in love! But like you mentioned, if you don’t practice you will forget and that’s what happened to me! But I still have my books and go over it from time to time. 😅Then When I was 24 I met my boyfriend who is French and I decided to pick up French again in order to communicate with his family. It’s been 4 years now and I understand 90% but I lack confidence in speaking it. I guess I’m insecure about not sounding as nice and you for example who is fluent in it. I feel I just ruin it 😂. I love your videos! It’s so natural, I learn so many expressions I can’t wait to share them with my boyfriend.
Haha, I wasn't like you, I didn't keep my Chinese books! I was like "it's ok, I already master all of this, I don't need this beginner book..." 😂 I'm really happy my channel can help you! And don't be afraid to speak, of course it might not be perfect but who cares, people will appreciate the effort you are making :)
for a francophone such as yourself ,you speak very fluently other languages, English is my second language and french would be the third language which i am beginning to learn at the moment.

Your English is impeccable.
Hi Nikki, thank you! 🤗
I am impressed! Congratulations !! Great journey:)
Merci :)
Wow. I’m speechless.
I'm from Mexico 🇲🇽 (I speak Spanish) and I use your videos because I study French in College. You're a good teacher and your Spanish is very good 💖
Chinese is really hard.

I'm from Nepal
I can speak Newari (a different ethnic language and my mother tongue), Nepali, Hindi and English.
@@cleetusboon Thank you Ryan, a lot of videos are coming up ! :)
And regarding French people talking speed, it's true that it's not easy but the more you listen to French, the easier it will get 😊
Well, I never knew you were Canadian until I heard you speak English! :)
The Chinese part really surprised me, impressive, well done. Merci beaucoup Elsa.
Thumb up, Elsa. Very impressive!
I speak spanish (my mother tongue) and english.
I'm learning french and just yesterday I started arabic.
Your videos are so inspirational. Thank you. My mother tongue is Mongolian. I can speak in English comfortably and a little bit in German. I started learning Korean this year. I planned to learn French, because I wanna travel.
I am from Colombia and your Spanish is great! I am learning french with your channel now
Ohh thank you! I loved my trip to Colombia so much 😍
@@pieceoffrench super happy you enjoyed it. ✌💕
Haha happy to know my chinese pronunciation is good! Pronunciation is one of the hard thing with Chinese!! Good luck with your French :)
I wish I could help you with your spanish and you help me with my french😂🥰
Love your videos!
Your Spanish is great! I'm sure if you spend a few weeks in a spanish speaking country you'll be even better in no time!

I speak Spanish and English fluently.
Haha thanks! I understand Spanish pretty well but speaking is harder... Good luck with French! :)
You haven’t forgotten all your Chinese. You spoke pretty good Chinese in this video 😂.
Jajaja suena re diferente hablando otros idiomas, estoy acostumbrado a escucharla en frances jaja. Excelent !
Salut, Elsa.
An interesting video, Elsa. I also speak five languages - English, French, German, Italian and Spanish (end even a bit of Irish - at least what I can remember from school). I live in Guadalajara, Mexico, where my wife is from, and she only speaks to me in Spanish.
*
Plus, I teach English and French in high school here.
*
My question for you is, if you learned your English in Ireland and in the UK, why do you have a North American accent when you speak it? Surely, being French, you learned “British English”? Otherwise, that would be like me having learned Quebecois instead of Metropolitan French.
*
If I could learn a sixth language, I’d like to learn Arabic.

Oh wow your English accent is nearly perfect, sounds like a native!
Thank you! 😃
Interesting vid and I really enjoyed hearing as to how you ended up learning each language and why!
Side note: there might be some grammatical errors in my Hebrew, like I said I don’t really speak, read, or write in the language often😁
Thank you Isabel! If you want to work on your Hebrew, you can also check out my other UA-cam channel that I have with my israeli boyfriend, it's called Piece of Hebrew tinyurl.com/ya3a8h6a
@@pieceoffrench Awesome, I will definitely check it out then! Thank you :))
So I’m fluent in Spanish, In high school I took French for 2 years ( freshman and sophomore year)
I then studied Chinese on my own for....*drumroll* 5 years!!!
Saludos. :D
Your English voice is better than your French voice. Eventl though your French accent is fabulous.
for a francophone such as yourself ,you speak very fluently other languages, English is my second language and french would be the third language which i am beginning to learn at the moment.
Thank you! What is your first language ? :)
You sound like your from California when you speak English 😀
Haha 😅
i don't get how people can think her accent is so good, i can definitely understand it but it doesn't sound american or anything
@@OneEyedMaxi she does speak English really well with a slight American accent, rather than an English accent for example. There's some famous French people who have lived in England for decades and still have much stronger French accents than her.

So awesome and inspiring!
I can tell your Spanish is the least you speak fluently but you speak good Spanish too. Bravo muñeca!!😘😘
