- Helldivers 2 has gotten into some hot water to say the least, where its community manager has sparked a massive fire that didn't need to happen. Community managers are getting documented & they are pretty mad to say the least, I ended up causing a little bit of a ruckus on Twitter so I speak on that as well.

My sibling was experiencing gender dysphoria in her (female) teens. My parents took her to a psychiatrist that said she was really a boy on the inside and that’s why my sister felt that way. My family supported her through the hormone blockers, name change, etc. Now she has changed her mind and wants to live as a women but the hormone therapy has left lasting effects on her voice, body, and hormone balance. Being called “transphobes” for not supporting this ideology is insane and ironically offensive. Trans ideology is damaging to young people. I’m done with this game.

It's a belief system like any other, masquerading as something less subjective. There is no third biological sex besides male or female, there's no natural process where men or women change to the other sex. So there's no biological basis for transgenderism in humans, unless you are willing to classify it as a disorder or dysfunction. If not, then that makes it a personal philosophy, a spiritual experience, a hypothesis, whatever, but not something you can justify making other people agree with in any way. But the people constructing all this ideology don't care about what's justifiable, or even about the lgbtq folks.

A persons life is only justified by someone else, and we're social creatures so of course we like to form groups of likeminded individuals and you know people also don't like to feel like the world hates them, especially not for something they aren't attacking someone else over. Not stealing their food, their land, their money, not attacking them, not pointing a gun or a knife at them, not harassing them.
It's a group of people that obviously are decently pretty fucking oppressed, they get a lot of hate and shit talking and the people you're talking about are such a small minority in a group that's already a minority.
So yea, it's normal for them to want to be heard and accepted, and it's pretty weird for other people to be so hateful over even just a flag(shows you the severity of the issue). But ey, i love shit talking, I love my freedom of speech, I hit many people in the nuts in highschool, shit talked my brains out in Halo 2, said some things that surely I should be in jail for.
And I respect the hell out of people for being based and saying what they feel. As I am here, doing that right now. Ya know, sometimes getting angry and shit talking is fun or funny, but this time it's just kinda weird, sad, stale and eh, ya know if you're gonna relentlessly bash on someone, do it to people who aren't already fucking destroyed mentally. It makes people uneasy, the broken even more broken and turns yall into a monster, riding that hate hype train and feeding off that group justification serotonin, the dopamine from the hunt and the adrenaline from the violence of it all. I'd be careful reinforcing those circuits, that's a fun path here and there, but you keep doing it and it'll consume you and turn you and the people around you into something you're probably not gonna like.

Let me elaborate:
If the community manager, who’s woke, relay information to its superiors, that players are requesting woke stuff, the superiors are relaying this information to their superiors and so on up the ladder.
When the game suddenly starts declining, no one at the top knows what’s happening, because players “want” woke stuff according to the community manager, gaming media and Twitter. The superiors are probably business people that don’t play games themselves or engage in gaming culture aside from written articles by Kotaku etc. maybe. They can’t all be Kathleen Kennedy.

this seems like a rogue CM that is upset her views aren't being expressly presented. given the way the team handled the game thus far, and made the game from the ground up, i don't think the development team will cave to this. her excuse of "oh the game was made by a lot of LGBT and Black/Brown people on the team" only contradicts her statement. stating it's tied to any real world political affiliation/messaging is just flat out incorrect. (yes i know it's a parody of fascism but the game itself is not tied to any specific political ideology or narrative in real life)

Man this is a shame to see. I used to play Helldivers a ton back in the day cause it's literally Starship Troopers, it's hilarious and so much fun how over the top it is. I've been excited to getting this game, even got on my computer, but it won't load and I'm not very smart, so I just haven't played it yet. But with all this bs around it, not sure if I even wanna.

What the CM doesn't realize is that the game is inspired by StarShip Troopers which is a little bit of a satire and look on fascism. And the game being developed by different ethnic groups doesn't make it woke. But how they view the world does.
The issue with the dei programs is that they include everyone but straight white men. It's gone from being inclusive to being a targeted harassment campaign. If they want to include it, then users should be able to disable it in the settings.
There's that, but also it's corrosive to natural writing. You can't make a diverse medieval village. It makes zero ****ing sense and completely ruins any immersion factor. And also it feels stupid and scientifically inaccurate to even make diverse villages in the modern world, because most of them in a lot of places are still pretty ethnocentric. Go to any village in the world without significant global traffic and you'll find ethnocentric towns, because that's how biology actually works. When you look at something like Wheel of Time Amazon series, where they made the villages a mix of every racial makeup despite it being geographically isolated for centuries, it is absolutely asinine and just screams of lefty modern day politics, which have no place in a fantasy world.

I looked at a group photo of the employees who work at Arrowhead games and I saw like one guy who wasn't yt so I'm thinking this community manager karen is going rogue and making things up about the people who made HD2 and its story to support her own woke agenda, it should be seen as sabotage by everyone else who works at Arrowhead and she should be fired.

Well theres the problem in a nutshell, they dont try to make a new game or movie with a female lead. Instead they hijack currently established game or movie and straight up try to replace the main character. Guess what whether it's male or female u cant just replace that main character, most people dont like that. Without Kratos GoW is dead to me, without Samus Aran Metroid is dead to me.
I was in the discord for a bit, did some digging around. She's not the only CM, but she was the only one I saw so open about this stuff. I think this is a case of a rogue CM who picked a couple pocket-modd. It sticks in my head that the server has a no politics rule, and it was dished out equally and rarely. People talked both pro and anti lgbtq, and I've only seen people get banned over it once.
I think she's rogue and doesn't represent arrowhead as a whole. She was also quickly shut up on Twitter and removed all her flags. So I think she got dragged to the side and told to knock it off

Yeah, cause when the ban assault happened, they went pure neutral, which legit basically never happens, the closest we get is the admins saying "don't let it get to you", you never see them straight up ban on all angles because they believe politics just cause problems. I got banned from the Helldivers 2 Discord for asking simple and fair questions about their CM's public statements. Considering how they "represent" the community and what they say can be considered a reflection of the developers, I'd say they should really consider the words they decide to speak.
The discourse around it was civil and inoffensive with the exception of their moderators. They didn't like the questions and I suspect PurpleSquidgeon was the saltiest and the one who swung the ban-hammer at me.
I found it funny and hyperbolic since it proved the point and I do not really care much about the official HD2 discord at all.

Of course it depends on the game. Certain genres actual require politics to be narratively contextualized withing the world. Speculative fiction is a good example of this.

There is a huge amount of cultural cross-pollination among the various White European ethnicities, which creates a high trust society and compels people to simply identify as White. This is disrupted however, when certain other groups interject their cultural norms into the equation. It depends on the group though, and this will be reflected in game development as well.
I've worked in game development since 2001, and I've never noticed a problem with White or Asian devs working together. However 'woke' is the secularism and racial doctrine of a specific people group that you aren't allowed to criticize. Hence why it sticks around despite being unpopular.

I think one of the most disastrous court rulings of recent history was the Citizens United decision that said corporations are "people" for the purposes of freedom of speech, because a corporation at its core is a group of people acting as a singular business entity.
The problem is that a "corporation" can't possibly represent the unified voice of a large group of people on all subjects so ultimately the "voice" being represented is simply that of the CEO. The only shocking part here is that PR personnel (e.g. community manager) are getting away with hijacking the voice of the CEO.
Giving corporations human rights is part of the process of watering down and dismantling human rights.
Corporations are not moral entities but are being empowered to speak as though they are, because they will always say the 'correct' thing.
