Oh boy, all I want at this moment is a time machine to came back to 1969! I'm 23, but what I really wanted is lived in '69 to saw all this incredible movies, shows and sitcoms! I'm appreciated those things a lot!!
IF you get that time machine take me with you, I have coins from that era...money from this time period would be worse than useless...come to think of it that could be a tv show/pilot.
Oh my gosh... Love American Style, Marcus Welby, Courtship of Eddie's Father, Room 222, The Brady Bunch and the ABC Movies of the Week. How awesome is this!
The great voice over is that of William Schallert from Patty Duke! He is 92 now. What a superior, diverse actor with a great voice . Shows that were given more than 3 months to bring in the numbers. So much great fun TV shows back then. Thanks William!
My, this takes me back. I was in first grade during this time. I wonder why the previews look old and scratchy, when time goes by so quickly and I don't feel that old. I'm 60. I particularly enjoyed the intro to movie of the week. Seeing the ABC logos going by and forming a virtual corridor...I feel so sentimental, seeing that and hearing the music. Then, even at age 6, I thought Bill Bixby was so hot.
1969-1970 season. The ABC Movie Of The Week was the big thing. Aaron Spelling, Danny Thomas, Sheldon Leonard, Self Productions, Lorimar, Bruce Lansbury, Douglas S. Cramer, Bing Crosby, and Self Productions. Spelling, Goldberg and Spelling, Thomas Productions, ABC Circle Films did a lot of those Movie Of The Week.
I agree 100% wholeheartedly with....Sam!!...These are terrific shows, and I would MUCH rather watch these programs over 99% of what's on regular TV today!!!👍👍👍
"THE MOVIE OF THE WEEK" also presented 90 minute "pilots" from time to time; some of them became series on ABC- others didn't {including "The Ballad of Andy Crocker" ("Corporal Crocker"), and the two "The Over the Hill Gang" movies [a follow-up aired in 1970]}.
U bet these "Pilot's" or shows are in a Vault somewhere at a network basement somewhere? I love vintage television..Networks in the 1999 had to up grade to compete with cable t.v. Series like the "Soprano's" would have never aired in 1969 or basic television in the 1980's-1990's due to the graphic violence.
The difference was, Rod Serling created "THE NEW PEOPLE" and wrote the pilot script. The show was supposed to examine the lives and relationships of the kids stranded on that South Pacific island. "LOST" was essentially a surrealistic fantasy.............
I recognize the variant of his theme for the game show FUNNY YOU SHOULD ASK (now to be prefaced with "the original version"--and speaking of, the original theme was used in the movie HOW TO BEAT THE HIGH COST OF LIVING)
The _Mr Deeds_ show didn't last long, and was the second TV shown based on a Frank Capra movie to fail (the other was an adaptation of _Mr. Smith Goes To Town_ starring Fess Parker as Jefferson Smith that aired in the fall of 1964.)
Great memories as a kid watching these season previews. In retrospect I don’t understand why they didn’t use the actual scores of the shows. Room 222, LAS, and others had some great theme songs. Way better than this mess.
I am quite old enough to remember this time, but I do not recall most of these shows. I think its because there were better shows on CBS and NBC. Hmmm -- or maybe we played outside, did our homework and went to bed early. Ah, traditionalist parents.

Too bad that most of these shows won't ever be on DVD/Blu-Ray/4K disc so that you can see them all.
Oh my gosh... Love American Style, Marcus Welby, Courtship of Eddie's Father, Room 222, The Brady Bunch and the ABC Movies of the Week.

+James Cavender And Mr. Schallert passed away just a few days ago- RIP...
I also remember "Marcus Welby MD, it revived Robert Young's career & it introduced the world to a young James Brolin.
Love watching this nostalgia. Thanks.
I love watching 1960s commercials and feel very nostalgic and I wasn't even born yet
Great 😃👍 Memories from ABC TV 1969.Especially Movie 🍿🎥 of the Week.
The theme song was called Nikki written by Burt Bacharach. Used from 1969-1975.

ABC had a pretty good lineup in the late 60s to early 70s

I remember "Love, American Style ", "The Brady Bunch ", "Tom Jones ".
Sam Bradley I remember the Movie Of The Week debuting in 1969.
hard to imagine this came out fifty years ago.
The First season of the Room 222, Brady Bunch and This is Tom Jones.
Who knew these shows (most of them anyway )became legendary as time went by?
For the most part, they were terrible. I'd forgotten.
I agree 100% wholeheartedly with....Sam!!...These are terrific shows, and I would MUCH rather watch these programs over 99% of what's on regular TV today!!!👍👍👍

Barry I. Grauman cutting edge films from the time.
I gladly own both "Over the hill gang" movies on DVD!!👍👍
"what a magnificent man"

Am loving this it’s great
There was always something for any and everyone to watch!
Howard Hessman of "WKRP " & Peter Bonerz of "The Bob Newhart Show " were members of "The Committee".
Howard Hessman was dj Dr Johnny Fever and a teacher on Head of the Class Jerry Robinson the dentist.
A time machine would be incredible awesome
The New People reminds me of the plot of "Lost".
The Movie 🍿🎥 of the Week. The Ballad of Andy Parker starring Lee Majors - Post Big Valley, pretty good movie.
Oh that tambourine…
Memories good tv
Is it just me or does 1969's The New People remind me an awful lot of Lost in the 2000s?
Damien Moye It was a ripoff, yes.
+ricarleite Hoo hoo, Robin!!
The difference was, Rod Serling created "THE NEW PEOPLE" and wrote the pilot script. The show was supposed to examine the lives and relationships of the kids stranded on that South Pacific island. "LOST" was essentially a surrealistic fantasy.............
Damien Moye I'm not going to lie--it does look an awful lot like Lost.
Not like Lost. If anything, it was more like Lord of the Flies.
Great stuff, but I'm wondering: the 1968 Fall Preview reel was on UA-cam, but now I can't find it. Has it been removed, or am I mistaken?
The only thing i remember from all this was that stirring theme for ABC's Movie Of The Week. Legend has it it was composed by Barry Manilow.
*****
Guess my info wasn't as accurate as i hoped. Thank You.
***** yep
TimelordR the font used on the ABC Movie Of The Week is called peignot pronounced pen yo.
Miss the old days
Beautiful memories
Music composed and conducted by Patrick Williams.
I recognize the variant of his theme for the game show FUNNY YOU SHOULD ASK (now to be prefaced with "the original version"--and speaking of, the original theme was used in the movie HOW TO BEAT THE HIGH COST OF LIVING)

When I was a kid, I thought The Lennon Sisters were related to John Lennon. 😆😆
Sam Bradley they were connected to Lawrence Welk.
Oh wow Howard Hesseman (Dr. Johnny Fever) at about 1:35
Back then, he was known as "Don Sturdy", and was part of the comedy troupe "The Committee", appearing on "THE MUSIC SCENE" (so was Peter Bonerz).
+Ronald Bittner He was also on a Dragnet episode around the same time, credited as Don Sturdy...
Barry I. Grauman Peter Bonerz I remember him as Dr Jerry Robinson on the Bob newhart show. he was a dentist.
I❤Karen Valentine!
Karen Valentine also appeared on The ABC Movie Of The Week as well.
Back when TV was actually watchable.
The _Mr Deeds_ show didn't last long, and was the second TV shown based on a Frank Capra movie to fail (the other was an adaptation of _Mr. Smith Goes To Town_ starring Fess Parker as Jefferson Smith that aired in the fall of 1964.)
Love American Style, a stech comedy which spun off along others happy days.
Memories
Long before Disney acquired ABC (American Broadcasting Company) in 1996.
45 years ago when cable tv was just a newfangled hobby.....
The Committee on Music Scene--Howard Hesseman
Edward Mulhare would go on to work with David Hasselhoff on "Knight Rider ".
Half of these people are dead & the other half's careers might as well be.
Yeah but they had the privilege of living in the sixties, a great era. Now we're full of shit
Cool, but I prefer the 1971 ABC fall theme! That’s the one I remember.
I like the 1974 abc fall preview theme I like the 1969 theme as well
7:10 Look everybody is Frank Rizzo. LOL
Great memories as a kid watching these season previews. In retrospect I don’t understand why they didn’t use the actual scores of the shows. Room 222, LAS, and others had some great theme songs. Way better than this mess.
I wonder who did the voice over, does anyone know
William Schallert did the voice over for the 1969-1970 season fall preview.
Which classic abc star is now returning as a contestants to dancing with the stars
I love that you mentioned this, because one of them starred in one of the sitcoms that debuted this particular season.
Mauren Mccornick
All the stars mentioned are dead now
My did they not have moved dark shadows to prime time on Thursday night
@3:26 I think the word "Hell" would have been censored in 1969.
God Brandon Cruz is a man
Now living as a serfer off
The residual of this show
Bill Bixby is now dead
He has a son who he named Bixby Cruz in memory of his TV dad.
1939-1940 1969-1970 1999-2000
I am quite old enough to remember this time, but I do not recall most of these shows. I think its because there were better shows on CBS and NBC. Hmmm -- or maybe we played outside, did our homework and went to bed early. Ah, traditionalist parents.
Beautiful wish tv where like that again
Ah, when television HAD CLASS
