We of a nervous disposition watched it through to the bitter end - loved the lid, didn't like the finish on the vase........BUT.....it is so interesting watching all the different techniques you employ. Well done Steve.
Glad you liked the video and the lid, my deepest apologies for the colour and the burning, i promise i will never do it again, well not until the next time obviously
Thanks Jojo, I hadn't done this before, I think perhaps i should have experimented on a smaller piece first, but i was very pleased with the finished piece
Steve, At first I thought with the price of Walnut especially where I’m located you must be crazy. You proved my thoughts wrong sir! The vase looks amazing, the Red and all the hours of the pyrography work just bring it to another level. Beautiful, I could imagine seeing that in a high end gallery somewhere. Well done!! Take care, Wayne
Thanks Tim, I've not done anything like this before but I was very pleased with the end result, I'm not to sure about the stripes on it but it does give it nice contrast
Oh Steve, how could you do that to the lovely piece of walnut??!! Yes, I stayed because I was intrigued; I am experimenting with wood dyes, and like the effect when the grain can still be seen through the dye, but you went another stage further ... and I must admit it is a striking finished piece, you have made a lovely job of it (and must have limitless patience!). Thanks for sharing with us.
Hi David glad you liked it, I very nearly stopped when I put the red on, and could still see all that lovely grain showing through, but I'm glad I kept going
Hi Vern, glad you liked it, I have had this idea in my head for some time, but never really found the time to do it, but I was really pleased with the outcome, so glad I did it
Steve, not sure you can I can be friends any more 😂 Great looking vase but it's WALNUT, you painted and burned WALNUT, I've been looking for some nice grained WALNUT for my next project and it's a fortune and there you are with a beautiful piece and you BURN IT lol, ok I think I'm calm now.
That is very NICE!
Thank you Judy I am very pleased you liked it
I have a good load of walnut, plentiful here, never seriously considered coloring it............I will, thanks for the inspiration.
Your welcome Scott, you wouldn't believe how this has split people, on there polarized views on the subject

Thanks Wayne, just that one comment made all those hours of dimpling well worth it, I really am quite touched. Thank You
What a great idea. I enjoy your videos very much. I will try this this weekend. Thank you for sharing. I hope to see you on the next one. Be safe
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment Albert, you will have to let me know how you get on with it
@@thehampshirewoodturner I will. But I don't see how I can send pictures to you
Very nice! I've done a little dot burnt texture and it's not for the feint of heart, that must have taken ages! Looks stunning, great work!

Well that gave me a good laugh, Its a shame we don't live closer together as i have quite a bit of this in my wood store
😂@thehampshirewoodturner what, were you going to invite me round for a walnut BBQ? I hear ebony and lignum vitae also burn quite well 😂
@@MikeHolton Quite clearly you have never had a BBQ with Lignum Vitae, as its a complete sod to get going but will burn for hours once you do LOL
