I wouldn’t say the paint or that beauty is independent from pleasure. I like to think beauty is a sense pleasure of harmony. The paint may be a beautiful portrayal of horror that doesn’t make it beautiful and still find pleasure in that, not in horror but in its beautiful portrayal of horror.
