@pilgrimsgarage know the feeling, way too damn many projects going on, and winter is approaching and I have no shop or garage so I'm also clearing things up as well
Well, let me throw you an idea. It starts in northern Wisconsin and I think I’m only going to have time to do half this summer. Want to join me? I’m probably going to wait until late summer or early fall so we have some time. I have a different idea for a bike…coming soon😉
Man, that makes me wish I was in Wisconsin instead of Washington . It did come with a complete Manual. So far I’ve given her the Marvel Mystery oil treatment but no luck
@@jables2845 pull the engine which is only linkages, oil lines, chain, carb and 3 bolts. Get the engine into a cradle of some caliber and just pull the jug off the engine case. I believe they’re relatively inexpensive to buy. It should be a kit with the piston and ring. If you want some better advice I have a friend here on UA-cam that has worked on these for a very long time. His channel is No Nonsense Know How. His name is Chris and he’s pretty awesome with these bikes.
I’ve been in the market for one but it has to be a electric start I’m old now, I was going to go buy a new one but all I see are white ones? I don’t want a Yamaha clone😖I want a red/ red and white one that has been meticulously maintained preferably low mileage.
I need to pick your brain a bit about it if I could. Can you either get a hold of me on Facebook messenger or email? Pilgrims Garage Mark Est on Facebook or Pilgrimsgarage71@gmail.com
Hey Pilgrim, everything was going good until I saw your Trump sticker on the door. I don't know why you have to involve politics in a motorcycle rebuild video.
Hmmm… I don’t believe that I mentioned Trump whatsoever in any of my videos let alone politics. If you look closely you’ll see next to the Trump stickers you’ll see a sticker that says “In Texas, we don’t call 911”. Does that mean I promote violence too? I think not. Thank you for pointing it out though. If you knew me you’d realize I don’t talk politics at all. Thank you for watching the video and if a sticker or banner on a wall offends you, you may chose to unsubscribe or block me. Thank you and I hope you have a great Labor Day weekend and I hope you’re safe. Be good.
Watching an XL/XR600 first time fire up is always satisfying. ⚡
These bikes are awesome! Well worth the time and money to fix. They are more powerful than the xr650l that replaced it!
I’ll do that. Much obliged!
Facebook marketplace brought me to this video lol, wishing I had some spare cash about now, good work
Thanks man, it was a fun video to make and I just have to many projects now. I’m trying to clear some space.

Looks like a fun bike. The trail sounds interesting.

Awesome video Pilgrim. I have two of these in my garage right now. The newest has a stuck piston. Wish I was a handy as you to do something about it
They’re so easy to work on. Get a good shop manual and tear into it. If you’re around central Wisconsin, I’ll come give you a hand😉

If the kick starter won’t move what’s the strongest point to turn?
@@jables2845 it may not be a stuck piston. It could be something inside the bottom end.

I'm in Wisconsin to
It's a bit late but you're supposed to measure the oil level on these things while they're hot :)
I didn’t know that. Thank you for the tip…I was relatively ignorant on this whole bike😉
Also have this one bike
