    What follow up content do you want to see on the j7+ combo? What do you want us to cover that was missing from this video?

      Are the filters the same as the j7. I have a j7 and braava on one floor and was thinking of this for the other floor but wanted to see if mainly the air filter is the same size.

    Thank you for the review. I’m fortunate to have a few vacuums. We have multiple floors I love the j7 and brava combo. I tell everyone that these are great for daily cleaning but still need a deep clean every so often. I know people complain about smaller tanks and not auto refilling but my theory is by refilling every 2-3 runs it gives you a chance to inspect the robots pad incase it picked up something that could damage the floor and even change pads. One of my son chores is to fill and change the pads every few days it only takes 10 minutes to do all 4. Hopefully one day I can get one of these but they are expensive

    How does handle transitioning from one room to another when there’s a threshold in the way (piece of wood that covers the transition from tiled floor to wood floor)? I have the Roomba 960 and it doesn’t have issues going over the transition. Does the mopping pad/arm on the J7+ cause issues getting over thresholds?

    Thanks for the review! I've liked my j7+ but this mop doesn't seem to come close to RoboRocks autoemptying/cleaning features. The price is too high for the lack of features when comparing it to the s7 ultra.

    • @DigitalDavid
      @DigitalDavid  Рік тому +3

      Totally! Better value options out there with more features from Ecovacs and Roborock. Even from within iRobot you can get the Bravva Jet and the J7+ (maybe even the s9+ on sale) for the same price or less!

    Quick question. If you need to bring it upstairs to clean, do you need to also bring the station? Or can we just place the Roomba anywhere upstairs and get the job done? Thank you

      It'll run fine without the station up there!

    Very good review. Can you tell me, is the j7+ (no mop) just as effective as the Combo j7+ you reviewed - minus the mopping? I don't need mopping but want a great sweeper that has great navigation with a dock and this looks like a good one. Thank you. JD

    I have owned many Robot vacums from the dumb bounce around Roombas, then to the 980, I then tried Neato D9 and then came back to the Roomba S9+ with the Brava M6 and now the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra. I will never own another Roomba ever again after the S9, it was a great concept but that's exactly what it was a concept. I run my vacums every day so they go through abuse and I expect that, the S9 started great and then a few months in the bugs started to appear, the S9 would get stuck in the middle of a room which was no big deal until it started to get stuck in 1 spot with the rollers spinning in the 1 location until the battery died, this was the first vacum that actually ruined my floors, it basically dug a hole in my capets due to the constant rollers running in the single spot. Then when the S9 get stuck it will then end its job, however it would sometimes cancel the job which also canceled the M6 mopping as well. As time progressed the S9 kept getting stuck in the dumbest areas (And nothing has changed in the room, and I redid the mapping runs).
    The next thing that really bothered me is how fast the S9 breaks down, the side brush is attached via a small screw that screws into this plastic nub which spins to spin the brush, well after so many times replacing the side brush it eventually stops that plastic nub and you are no longer able to attach a side brush. The rollers are amazing on the vacum and one of the main reasons I stayed with Roomba, however if the vacum ever picks up a cord it does not know so the cord will just keep spinning inside the rollers which damage the rollers, the past models like the 980 it would always detect the cord and stop the vacum.
    Overall Roomba did make great Vacums, but I feel they are no longer "Pushing the limits" and just cruising on the Roomba name.

    Thoughts on this compared to the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra?

    • @DigitalDavid
      @DigitalDavid  Рік тому +3

      Roborock S7 MaV Ultra hands down if you can afford the extra ~$200... I'm a sucker for self cleaning and refilling water tanks that is worthwhile imo. It's the equivalent of choosing to buy a robo vac with a self emptying base vs not. Definitely a game changer and the whole point is for you to spend less time cleaning and get more automation for your money!

    • @DigitalDavid
      @DigitalDavid  Рік тому +3

      Totally! If they had released this at the regular j7+ price point this would be a very popular and successful vacuum. It's current MSRP makes Roborock and Ecovacs alternatives a better value!

    i see a lot of problems regarding the mop (in comparison with the roborock s7 max ultra).
    1) Potential drying option in the future is not possible
    2) Wet/damp top of the robot
    3) No way of auto filling and cleaning of the mop without a new tank on the robot
    I think that irobot is best brand for robotvacs(+mops) anymore.

    • @DigitalDavid
      @DigitalDavid  Рік тому +1

      Totally!
      1) yup with this design it won't have a drying/cleaning option
      2) haven't noticed that yet but I understand the concern
      3) the lack of auto filling is a major disappointment imo. If this was price as the same price as the regular j7+ it would get a pass but since this costs almost as much as Roborock and Ecovacs units that have refill and clean you are better off getting one of those units!

  • @JonathanPong
    @JonathanPong Рік тому +1

    How does the mop compare with the Braava M6?

    • @DigitalDavid
      @DigitalDavid  Рік тому +2

      Braava jet mop pad has more surface area for coverage so overall I'd say it's better. It doesn't vacuum though so it's really made for someone that owns a Roomba. I do like that the j7+ combo as it does both and it's design allows it to apply more downward pressure for more stubborn stains.
      With Black Friday sales quickly approaching you should be able to pick up the s9+ and Bravva Jet cheaper than this unit which is what I would recommend!

      @@DigitalDavid Thanks for the reply. The S9 and M6 is actually my current setup but I've been wanting to streamline to lower the overall cleaning time. My place is mostly hard flooring. I'm considering the Ecovacs Omni but I like (trust) iRobot more (not sure if that still holds after their buyout by Amazon).

    is it drag mopping or oscillating mopping?

  • @richardplumb3713
    @richardplumb3713 8 місяців тому

    appreciate you estimating sqft on a tank - coudln't find that info anywhere. I think it'd work for our use and relatively small space. I know others 'wash' and dry the mops but my wife would want to properly wash - ilke in a washing machine, she won't count rinsing in cold water as 'washing' so the more advanced features on others isn't a big deal. I think this would be fine for a swiff twice a week then swap pads and throw one in the wash. The only other vac I'd be tempted by would be the roborock Q revo - importantly it has a simple way to clean the base, others like the S7 maxV have complex clean bases that need their own maintenance which would actually make them a pain to live with I think

    • @DigitalDavid
      @DigitalDavid  Рік тому

      Yes, the Roomba Combo j7+ Robot Vacuum and Mop can be controlled using voice commands through Siri on your iPhone. The robot is compatible with both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, as well as Apple HomeKit, which means you can use your iPhone or other Apple devices to control the robot using voice commands. Additionally, the robot also comes with a companion mobile app that allows you to control and monitor its cleaning progress remotely from your phone. I hope this helps! cnl

    Sadly most of the robot mops are just wiping a pad along the floor, which of course gets dirtier as it goes. The robots that put cleaner solution scrub then extract are the correct way.

    This is a re-engineered J7+... The only thing they did was use the existing debris bin and stole some of your capacity to make room for water storage... Not sure that's a good thing. They added 2 servo arms(1being hollow to allow water to be pushed to the pad...A pad which is now held on by 1980's tech... VELCRO? Yeah... an engineer's ductape... VELCRO... which will not hold the pad after 15 uses/washes. Then you will have a pad that is flimsy and folds onto itself or hangs off the Roomba as its lifted into place... and will eventually break the arms of the lifting servos that they added. This is a horrible design... and seems RUSHED by a company that is WOEFULLY behind in Technology. The company refuses to use LIDAR along with its Camera system... I dont know why... but its not expensive tech... they seem too lazy to push their year 2005 design Roomba into the next stage... I really thought we would see something amazing after the S9+ design... but they all just went back to the early 2000's designs. They are old.. outdated... and it now appears the engineering team is garbage too! The only thing that now is good about iRobot merchandise... is their app for their systems. That's all!

      why is the specfic technology relevant? they don't use LIDAR but navigation seems fine and obstacle avoidance is up there too. If it does the job why care if they use VSLAM vs LIDAR?

    @therealhonestraider7921 Рік тому

    I wouldnt buy one of these if you paid me to. You better return that garbage quick... or you will be left fixing non stciking pads forever while iRobot laughs all the way to the bank. This design deserves a 1 out of 5 stars. Its lazy... weak... and is not built to last long (Mopping system) +plus you now have less vacuum debris space... Nope... Never buy this ... thats my advice!
