I can just imagine you walking into a novelty store and asking for a dozen rubber poops, and you need the variety pack so they are all different. You get a funny look from the clerk and say, "Hey, I need this for my job. Don't judge me."
@@DigitalDavid I had a Neato. Came home from work one day to find one of my cats had messed outside the litter box. Even though I had the magnetic strip cordoning off that area, somehow the Neato managed to find a way in and, oh dear, the mess I had to clean up from the carpet (luckily I have a Bissell carpet washer) and the mess from the Neato itself 🤢 The Neato died a couple of years ago. It would leave the charging base, go for about 2ft, turn in circles and not do anything else. We are going to replace it shortly and it will probably be this Roomba. Thank you for such an informative video - and, as we've got Echo Dots in every room (except the bathroom), could be a lot of fun too.
The self-emptying base is loud. Really loud. About as loud or louder than a Shop Vac. Something to consider if you like your robot vacuum to do its work during the night while you sleep.
Most are this loud as they need a lot of power to suck the contents out of the vacuums dustbin... at least they are quick and its for 30 seconds or less!!
I like the bin emptying sound since it alerts me that cleaning cycle is complete from a long distance. If it is cleaning a large area it may need to return home one or more times to recharge (no sound) then finish the job. It's hard to tell if it is finished or just out of gas (electrons) unless the bin empty occurs.
@@joepangean6770 That’s looking on the bright side. My dog does not like it, and I’d rather not wake up my kids. Maybe some day they’ll get a little quieter.
I wish you had mentioned something about the noise level of it. Did you? I have had one for about 40 days. Today is my last day to return it. Mine seems really load. I have a combination of hardwood floors & carpet. It is very loud on both to me. I can't find any UA-cam reviews talking about the expected noise level.
If you are comparing to a Dyson, Shark, Eureka, Bissel or Hoover upright then the j7 is quiet as a Church mouse. If you are comparing to a whole house central vac then yes it is significantly louder. Suggest you schedule cleaning sessions when you are gone, you won't hear it.
I've had the i7+ for 2 years and it is very quiet with respects to home vacuum cleaners. I now have the j7+ combo and it is significantly quieter. Sound meter measures j7+ on carpet less than window fan and air purifier. The bin emptying dock is indeed loud but clocked at less than 10 seconds duration. I can appreciate your sensitivity, same as air conditioner compressor starting or furnace kicking in. Both tend to wake up children and adults.
I have the one. If you expect miracle you should use common vacuum cleaner. If you are lazy like me you will tolerate imperfections as Roomba provides. It drives very well and vacuum according to battery power - average. 😜
Yes they are identical the only difference is one has the self emptying base... With 11 pets I'd say you are a prime candidate for the self emptying base!!
@@DigitalDavid nope, for me to keep the dirt in the base is equivalent as having it on the floor (still inside my house). I want all dirt/hair, etc outside my house every day... I am that picky, but happy you shared it the review/video
Depending on your mess size and frequency of vacuuming, iRobot claims 30 days to 60 days. I have an i3 with the clean base and this is pretty accurate. I go through it about every 30 to 40 days. I vacuum 3 times a week and I have a shortish hair dog.
Thank you for your comment on the iRobot Roomba J7+ Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum video. The pictures of the clean floors shown in the video were likely captured separately from the Roomba J7+ itself. They might have been taken before or after the robot vacuuming session using a camera or a mobile device. These images were then included in the video to showcase the effectiveness and performance of the Roomba J7+ in maintaining clean floors. cnl
I personally wouldn't "upgrade" to this if coming from the i6 or i7 unless you have a pet that poops all over the house. This has the exact same cleaning system so no noticable improvement in cleaning or performance. Just as loud imo!
After 2 years of using the J7 I am quite disappointed. Cleaning is ok. The first map left out some corners and never corrected it, however it is vacuuming this area. For months now it doesn’t recognize obstacles anymore. Extensive research didn’t solve the problem. iRobot support never responded.
@@DigitalDavid Thank you for your response. I did a reset, not sure if it was the full reset. Have to check but then I will have to start from scratch. At least it is poor customer service by iRobot.
That is disappointing to hear about their customer service. I have had 0 issues yet or else I guess I would be experiencing the same service. Hopefully everything works out!
I have 11 pets so I need a good hair collector and poop avoider. So far Shark Robot vacuum is not doing a good job thus here I am looking for a better efficient option

I thought for sure it would do something differently with the poops (especially the variety) but it wouldn't even go near any of them LOL
lol

Can you set a schedule that would vacuum everything ie twice a week BUT vacuum one particular room every day?
Yupp you can, once it maps out the house you can schedule room by room if you want, and "everywhere" when you want that
You sure can!

That's interesting I just bought this unit and it's much quite than the pet series 590 I'm replacing.

That's very interesting! It honestly didn't seem abnormally loud to me, but I might need to do a decibel test in future vids!

Its a vacuum. What do you expect?

This is the right attitude with any robo vac regardless of brand!!!!
Hi digital David
If I choose the not emptying vase robot does the robot has the same suction power?

There is no mention of mapping????
Mine just keeps adding mapping- does not use the map already named- start it for the living room and it uses the kitchen map- so frustrated
It might need to few passes to finalize... let it do a few full cleans before moving it around etc!
Never had a roomba before and I was just wondering how long does a bag last you before you have to replace it?

How did you get pictures of your clean?

Can more than one person connect to the same unit? Thinking I just purchased this and downloaded the app, can my spouse download the app as well?
Yes! I'd just share account info with them!
It keeps missing clothes, bedsheets Rhys are on the floor. Also got stuck on a rug
No robo vacuum is perfect! Shag rugs are not a friend of any robo vac regardless of price/brand!
How do you get the self emptying on the phone? I have the same irobot.
It should just self empty on it's own! Does yours not?

Awesome review
Thank you so much!
Would you consider this an upgrade over the i6+? How does it compare sound wise?

You might be asking too much of any robo vac with 11 pets!!!! But I'd say this should do better with pet hair vs the Shark.
Look if your dog is pooping that much maybe you probably should keep it in a barn? 13:40
hahah, thanks for your suggestion!
i think it was fake poop
