    Love the shamrock Bowls! I would LOVE to see a hand build bowl video! I am much better at handbuilding than throwing, (but I am working on it!) My wheel does not have bat pins. Do you or anyone else know of a bat system that doesn't need bat pins to work?

      You can drill holes in your wheel head with a metal drill bit.

      Harley and Noble (from England) makes a great Russian doll batt system that can fit over your wheel head so no batt pins are required. They are custom made and you can find more information on how to measure your wheel head to place your order. The beauty of these batts is that they all thrown pieces can be lifted off the batt once they are leather hard no wiring is required.

    Wishing you the luck of the Irish. Think they would look Awesome with some gold luster. Reminds me I have a dragon I have to gold luster the horns on. Can't wait for the handbuilding on the bowls. Thanks for your great videos

    These bowls would also look great as poppies with 2 fold ins instead of 4 😊

    I'm thinking the beveled side should go down so that there's room for stray clay along the edges, keeps it from wobbling

      That makes the most sense, but it's great that I didn't have any issues either way.

    Your last and this video at the end I thought were a voice over's. I truly don't mind because it was a big overlap with the voice and video. Still both videos are great and informative. Thank you.

      Thank you for not minding. Gremlins must be playing with UA-cam as my edited video was just fine. I even tried deleting and reuploading, but it didn't fix it. I really hope it's not too annoying.

      @@hobblecreekpottery Not annoying at all. I understand wanting the video to be perfect as I’ve make videos too. I’m just glad that I can still learn something new in pottery and arts.

      I noticed it too. I was trying to figure out why I heard water when you weren’t touching but then you would silently touch so I figured there was a slight delay. No biggie.
      I ordered the bat system because I have a Whisper and no banding wheel so I thought I would try it. I’ve used it to hand build and it worked like a charm (not cereal LOL). I can’t wait to throw with it now that I’ve seen how easy it was for you.

    I tried posting a comment yesterday but I don’t see it now. I love the split and altered rims! How’s your knee doing?

    • @hobblecreekpottery
      @hobblecreekpottery  9 місяців тому

      Thank you. The knee is getting there. The biggest complaint is the pain and stiffness.

    Looks like my studio pro bat system

      @hobblecreekpottery  9 місяців тому +1

      That's the name of the one I couldn't remember! My only complaint on the pro system is that I have to struggle too much getting the bat out. Sharon's worked better, and I'm looking forward to try making a handbuilt bowl using the super bat system.

    So glad you’re back on the mend! I have a question about these bats - with the holes, I’m assuming that you couldn’t make larger items, like plates??? Would you have to use a different bat?

    • @hobblecreekpottery
      @hobblecreekpottery  9 місяців тому

      Yes, you would need a different bat for something larger.

    The shamrock bowls could be painted to look like a pansy!

  • @pottersjournal
    @pottersjournal 9 місяців тому

    Always like altering of the thrown form. So many thing can be done. The ‘shamrock’ is a new one the additives finish it off nicely. Now fire them quick and fill with something good for the leprechauns so they’ll quit playing tricks with you audio.
