already saved this video for watching many times lmao, watching youtubers who also use the same weapon as me is too good for me to learn more, thank you Uravani :)
Thanks a lot. I’m getting into gs and didn’t really know where to start. Confidence is a big factor cause it’s helped me read opponents higher than me and sent some into a rage quit. Even though i find dodge cancelling extremely challenging to comprehend, the advice will help my gameplay a lot. Thanks
Bro thank you so much, ive been maining arcadia since she released and have been playing greatsword since jaeyun came out. Ive sort of hit a plateau with how i play greatsword and the only options ive had were watch gameplay theres no tutorial or tips/tricks video without anything ive heard before. But this is exactly what i needed 😭
I'm starting learning GS (preparing for Imugi release lol) and this video is super helpful, thank you! Are you planning on making more of these with other weapons?
ive got the feeling that most Greatsword players right now do it off of instinct and are able to rely on raw skill, but we have yet to find someone who's refined greatsword knowledge to really take advantage of their weapon with theory work. Even pro players are always learning new things of their weapon constantly
HardyMJ was really finding all the greatsword tech. Like heavy canceling, and dashing into grounded dair at the end of the stage into a falling Dlight, and doing sandstorm’s scythe dair into the wall into ground pound but with greatsword sair dair. Even spending time in training, I found that there’s a lot of very niche options you could go for on greatsword, it’s just a matter of is the damage worth the risk to do it in game. Usually it’s not so a lot of pros that play for optimization will tell you that using greatsword aerially is the best move since there’s less of a risk to get punished when you miss a grounded read or drop a combo, and aerials do more damage. But I’m looking forward to see how greatsword will be played in the future and if there will be a more optimal way to utilize it.
@@uravani i do understand it and i suppose its because down at 2100 where im at ive got more wiggle room, for example you wouldnt normally consider Grounded Groundpound into jump gc nlight finisher to be a good punish for up, up-away and away dodge. A lot of my gameplay consists on reacting to my opponent by forcing myself to be slow. Its easy to get the opponent to red health, but its useless when they figure out what kind of strings work against you. Its easier to deconstruct the faster gameplay because they expect you to read their dodge or react to a dodge, while instead I try to force out options. Magyar has an insane kit for that since Dsig can punish in-dodge, ssig punishes away dodge and neutral sig punishes up-in dodge. For up dodge I usually jump sair and for up and away dodge I try to set up slight dlight true into delayed nlight finisher which hits up, up-away and away
something i wish was done more often is if people talked about their options with others. Knowing whats available to you allows you to build up a gamestyle. I personally enjoy using soft platforms to do the grounded dair platform drop tech and either hit a dlight finisher or go for an Nlight or slight to punish movement
what is your opinion on nerf Greatsword Side Air: Increased total Recover time on miss while in the air from 7 Fixed/10 Variable to 10 Fixed/10 Variable. player can easily go out from your combo
It’s a valid nerf. it doesn’t affect doing a combo because it’s only a nerf when you miss. You just can’t spam sair in the air to bait out your opponent as safely anymore. But you can still hit dair sair true.
@@uravani But you can still hit dair sair true? NO every time i play bigsword im depresion i give him 4 hit combo and enemy just go out hah you know for fun
Hammer is kinda like gs, you have to patient, (depends on your elo, obviously) you have to play differently every match, watch your opponents dodges, read their dodges and punish, but you have to be precise on the punish, because its a slow weapon with low priority, so of you whiff a punish you might get punished back. Hammer can be very frustrating sometimes, so if youre on a match that you just cannot do sh1t with hammer, use your other weapon. Also, the biggest strugle for new Hammer players are the floaty players, these are the worse, so what you have to do is just like that one pro said in the video above, watch your oponent jumps and landings, bait attacks for making them dodge, and then punish. Always remember, Hammer has the strongest nair of all, abuse it.

Make one vídeo just like this but with hammer this time, you could ask questions to kyna, java, swata, etc
Good idea!
Damn, it puts into words a lot of the theory behind playing GS, a lot of which comes in handy.
Very informative I’ll be using these tips
Glad it could help!
should continue this series for other weapons, would love to see kyna answer this these q ab hammer !

We need boots or orb next 🙏
I’m so down for orb
Orb is far more simple than GS though

The annoying part about floaty passive players is the second I start playing aerial they just start playing grounded again and repeat
Yeah that’s tricky. I’d say just wait for them to approach and keep throwing out dair
