So cool to see those old machines again, and also the Mac Classic, I developed software on that for two days and then my boss decided I'd be better off with a Mac IIci lol. Nice video man!
Brill, nice to see you re-jigging studio set-up in favour of some of my fav late 80’s kit (how old was the original Wasp special you had?! … ). Mega fan of the fab CZ-1 flagship Cosmosynth with lovely keybed inc. aftertouch! Can sound quite warm, analogue-like in my experience. Built a minter from 3x surrogates off eBay back in the early 2000’s, as keeper. Tempted by the OLED displays that are now being offered as replacements, rather than my EL foil I changed…. another weekend project to bank! 😎👍🎹🎵🍻
Thanks! I got OG wasp back in around 86 for £30. I had a midi converter so it was very useful during the 90s. Yes the CZ can sound warm too. It has just has a particularly clear sound to my ears, whereas the ESQ is a bit more dirty. I would say the OLED is worth considering and not too tricky to install.
@@RunningonairMusic Yep think I'll order one, even if it's already got this recent foil replacement. Got the (I think now?) rare ESQ-M rack which I love, and maintains my studio real estate for HW synths that only are keyboard based. Looking forward to your next YT UL 😄👍
Love my ESQ-1, I also got it with many issues including a garbled display which was my first "hard" synth repair. What a beautiful display though! Really cool synth with its own sound (kinda lo-fi to my ears), really sits nicely in a mix. CZ-1 also has one of those VFD displays, so cool - when I was a kid I thought Casio only made toys but they made some killer synths. Oh WOW a QY-10! It actually has a big sound that belies its tiny size! Very fun video thanks for putting it together!
So you kept the Beh Wasp then, I thought you were just reviewing it. I absolutely love mine, so much so that I bought a second one just to have. I'm really impressed with Behringer, I also have their Pro1 & Model D, & a ton of their rack gear, with never a problem. Roland not so much, I have 5 pieces of theirs, all expensive & each came with a problem. Thanks for the vids btw. Aust.
Thanks, the track is on streaming and bandcamp "less than human". The units are an 8 way usb midi interface and ensoniq SQr. I've done a couple of videos on the sqr but it wasnt part of my 90s setup, so i didn't mention here.

Music sounds great!
Thanks, links the description, if you'd like to check out more.

Glad you liked it. I have to admit i was surprised how well the qy track turned out. Plenty of eq and compression used to get the best out of it.

Yep, planning to get the pro 1 at some point. Used to have but it got stolen out the back of van parked up in Sighthill, Glasgow. It's a long story.
Rad tunes m8!
Cheers!
The companies should re-release these guys!
Arturia has done virtual versions of the CZ and ESQ. Worth checking out.
I'm rebuilding my 90's studio also. No more vsts and little to no DAW.
Great! I'm just using this setup for a couple of projects then I'll do something else. I think the important thing is to find what works best for you.
Great video and cool music. What are the other rack units you have under the QY-10? Do you use a hardware compressor?
