Studio additions look great!! just a quick thought.. make a wood surround for the brick monitor stands.. unless your going for the brick industrial look 👍🏾
Nice! 🤘
thanks !!!!
As much as I wanted to be a cheerleader for DangerFox, and hope for their success…..sadly no. I’ve thrown nearly $5k into the unknown, with the hope that maybe(?) I’ll see the the desk and xylo I paid for. DangerFox, please refund me. My order #’s are 1520 and 1524. I’ve got a lot of good equipment that needs proper housing. DangerFox, do the right, respectable, and honorable thing. Thank You
It always make me laugh how the F# do cables get tangled up just sitting in place!! Nice set up BTW.
K-BULL 930,000... Damn, that's a lot of cables. Great video! Cheers from SLC!
I might’ve audibly *gasped* when you started unplugging everything 😅 looks fantastic!
This coffee deserves the studio
I just discovered YOU today. Sir, your studio and knowledge blows me away and makes me wanna quit. I love your studio to death.
I've never regretted any of my Audioscape purchases, ever. They are an incredible company. You're gonna love that V-Comp dude! You can do decapitator style saturation and still feel dynamics. Incredible.
Such high production quality and value, man. Always good info and no ego.
I love my V Comp!!! I love my Dangerfox desk. I love new sidecar with the arm extension. That’s awesome!
Spam.
I just had to do this! haha I feel you, buddy.
Colt you are a freaking powerhouse. I am not an expert but getting all that stuff done in such a short period of time is amazing. When I saw what you are up to my first inclination was „run“. Congrats for achieving this and thanks for the boost of motivation.
Awesome setup
Great setup...lots of work! Makes me glad I decided to go entirely "in-the-box" years ago! LOL!!
At this point can we talk about Home studio? It looks soooo nice 🔥🔥.
Co'grats man.
Wow what a journey Colt! Looks ready for large scale productivity now
I struggle with evo 4 audio interface and normal dynamic mic and my cables make mess all the time. But this man maintain so much stuff. awesome 👍
Please do the Big demo, it it a tad wild. It reminds me of the Oxford Inflator a tad.
I used to have the same Hafler DH-220. Great little amp.
This was is something that definitely needs to be seen more often. Awesome video dude. You definitely have alot of gear going. thanks for this!
We all know the Peavey comp is the secret sauce.Lol
Dope studio mane!!
HAHA yeah.... I know that feeling... your sitting in a room you built full of stuff you bought saying "Allright I made it!!".... a few weeks go by and you're like...."What about X=Y=Z pice of gear" haha! Glad you made your session!
Hey @Colt I think youve got another scammer here
Looks great, cheers
Very cool! Congratulations. Cheers from Ibiza
Congrats for the new set up!!
Nice set up
Nice hustle bro'ham!
You're a mad man! Ripping your studio apart the day before a session! Ha. Any chance you'd share any video of a session one of these days?
I really would like to share more stuff like that, but it’s a frustrating situation due to copyright issues, and as well privacy issues with my clients music and intellectual property. I do post stuff over on the Patreon, I don’t have to deal with the copyright stuff over there.
Truly epic studio rebuild. Don't know how you do it. That would take me a week! Love the new sidecar. I see that Dangerfox are now selling your custom version.
Okay sharing your set up with my wife so she can see a proper studio set up..........🙂
Please do that video about the spl big
Watching your videos has helped me gain an understanding of some of the things I need in my small studio. I swapped out my small monitors for a pair of Focal speakers from my stereo system; the Chorus 706 model, as well as using my Focal headphones. There are some things in your studio which I understand and there are other things that are just plain old VooDoo…however, as I watch and learn, I am beginning to understand some of the black magic you use to get great sound…lol.
Looks awesome
Man one day I will have a dope setup like yours, pumped
You need an espresso runner 😉
Congratulations, mr. Colt Capperune great work, i want more info from your Mac studioapple and setup installing with your monitor Lg. i wish you Succes thanks your videos.👋👍
Hey Colt, where did you get your black T-shirt with the picture of the stay-level/tube tech/1176 etc? I kinda want one after seeing you wearing it lol. Great vid as always!
Thanks! It’s an AudioScape shirt!! Should be on their website
Hey Colt, very nice! I really like your setup. I have a need for a monitor controller. I plan to buy within two weeks. The two that I am considering is the Drawmer MC2.1 and the Coleman Audio M3PHMKIII. Have you had experience with either of these? If so, any information that you can give would be greatly appreciated. Can you provide pro's and cons about the both? Thank you!
Sooo cool! Totally jelly! \m/
Gaddamn.... just the cabling is giving me a headache! lol
How do you find the sound of the cubes
Mine sound lil boxey not sure if they come sounding like that ....
Didn't the last 'rebuild' go like this too? LOL great content Colt!
It did…. I’m probably cursed lol
Great Job! One thought, I got the argosy 360XI stands for my ATC45s. I had to add 4x4s (3.5” by 3.5”) under the base of them to bring them to the perfect level for me. The 42” version would have been too tall as I did not want them angled at all. For your Focals, I wonder how the argosy 360I would work, not sure on the height though. I am sure you planned on the weight, just wondering the extra weight of cinder blocks on the 2nd story.
Thanks for the great videos!
Luckily wait in my room is not an issue as the construction of the floor is very thick and there’s big beams, and tripled up floor joists in the floor from when we built the house. The cinderblocks will get replaced eventually, it’s just low on the priority list at the moment. Thanks for watching!
loved this! the sidecar looks so good
Sweet! Do you have any plans for bass traps*? I know you've got lovely fabric covered 4" walls but I could imagine something like a few of those RPG modex plates would improve the low frequency decay time in there.
*proper tuned ones or steel plates, not just 4-6" of rockwool stuck over a corner.
Check out my Focal Trio 11 video. We measure the room, and it’s one of the flattest rooms my Focal guy had ever been in. So I’m very fortunate to not need any bass traps
I like the new profile pic!
how much of that rack gear contributes to the final product and how much people hear that difference in sound?
This is great and all but I might be wrong here but you are going to moving out of the sweet spot a lot. Maybe turn that new side car 90 degrees then you don’t move out of the sweet spot that often. But otherwise this is actually very informative. Congratulations
For sure, that’s why all the way out in the new Sidecar is only microphone pre-amps. Not some thing I will ever have to use while mixing that will take me out of the sweet spot
cables, cables, CABLESSssss
Quick question. I noticed that you have any dedicated converters. Is the Apollo X16 doing all of the conversion?
0:15 I'm getting flashbacks
4:30 story of my life hahaa A fresh start is SO worth it
Congratulations on getting the side cart 😁 It looks great. Quality gear in it too. I'd love one of those CAPI preamps.
That was a humongous undertaking! I just recently moved a 500 series rack into my console from a side car and I thought that was stressful lol! I have a Manley ref mic as well and I love it! I’m curious if you record vocals right out there in the control room with it or in isolation? I have a reflex ion filter around mine but maybe I’m over thinking it? My control room already has nice even sound absorption.
Hey Colt, is the mac studio running the vid setup and the main rig, or is there a separate computer running the recording setup?
It’s running both sides simultaneously! I will likely do a video on how I set that up on my tech channel soon
Congratulations on the finished Setup! What were your reasons for not getting an analog or hybrid console?
Thanks!! Honestly for me right now it’s that the recall time + cost outweighs the benefits.
Hey Colt, for what do you use that Vcomp?
Is this a better Choice for Vocals than the 1176? Also for Tracking?
I‘m a Singer/Songwriter with a Guitar (Gibson J45) and have already a U67 and a RME Interface.
Please help me, what to get Next for a Killer vocalchain?
How does the Alto headphone amp work? I’m thinking about some budget headphone amps.
what patchbays are you using? why 1/4” instead of TT? have you thought of Elco to patchbay and using Elco snakes?
Nice job Colt!! Are you able to pass phantom power through the Behringer/Sampson patch bays? If yes, are you routing the XLR panel to the top Behringer patchy? Thanks.
Amazing setup - and way to put yourself under some serious deadline pressure! Curious why you don't normal your patchbays so you don't need patch cables in them the whole time - do you have a workflow preference that makes it work better that way?
I'm wondering why you have not normalized that patch bay.. it would be less cables etc etc...Looking good though..
Why put the Peavey there? Since the Sta Level is tube, I would leave space for air circulation.
Hey Colt! First off, love your stuff and thanks for your vulnerability and passion for sharing your journey. Gear question: why did you choose TRS patchbays over TT? I started with TRS and switched to TT after a bit cause it ended up being cheaper cable-wise and space-wise, the latter especially useful for living in NYC. Part of me misses my TRS patchbay and may switch back depending on when I have time to rethink my wiring. Just wanted to get your thoughts on one vs the other. Cheers!
Having 2 mixcubes would basically be mixing in stereo right
Can you level the side cars?
Now you could probably add and move stuff around alittle easier next time.. so theres that. Great video. Its great gear porn. Can tell it took twice the work just to record everything. Cant emagine all the diting it took. I would love to spend a couple months putting that together.
mannnn whered you get that gear shirt ??? lol
Where is the Rupert Neve 5088? Can't seem to identify it in the video
What software are you using to edit your videos?
Damn u have like 3,000$ worth of cables in there 🤣
I don't get why you need so much patch cables for your patchbay... the whole point is to have the default routing already set so you only use cable when you have a specific routing out of the general use...
Awesome! Looks great. Random question. Do they not make stands big enough or stable enough for those focals? Or do you just prefer the cinderblocks.
I have a new pair of the Trio 6 Be's. Should I have them vertical or laying on their side? Thanks
Whatever sounds best in your room! I tried it both ways, when using measurement equipment they technically were more flat on their sides in my room, but I prefer the way that they sounded vertically.
So trashcan for studio and Mac studio for video?
brooooo pls i love youre studio and i LOVE Cabel managmant i could do it if you want to i know sounds a bit weirde
I’m curious, Colt. Why so many patch cables plugged into the front of your patch bays? It looks like your gear is plugged into the same places all the time, so why not just normal things to each other using the back I/O?
It’s not a bad idea, I’m just slowly build more and more gear up overtime and have never made the switch to doing it that way. Thanks for the suggestion though!
I was actually going to ask the same thing. I have 4 patch bays and hardly ever have to repatch anything because of normaling
@@ColtCapperrune Oh yeah man, I recently normalled the outputs of my interface to the inputs of my outboard gear, and vice versa. Saves me so many cables and so much time patching things. Totally worth the effort.
@@Jake_Sachs what’s normalling? Is it just deciding on an insert sequence?
@@jorykevinberger7047 Normalling is a patch bay thing, used to connect gear to each other with the rear jacks instead of the front ones. So for example you have a multi-output interface like Colt does, and you want Output 1 of your interface to be always connected to the input of a compressor, you can plug the interface’s output into a top rear jack, then the compressor’s input into the rear jack below that. Assuming the patch bay settings are set to “normal” these 2 points, now those things will always be connected to each other without having to use a cable in the front of the patch bay.
You can also do what’s called “breaking the normal”, which is when you wanna patch a normalled thing (in this example, Output 1 of your interface) into something else. To do this you would use the front of the patch bay to plug Output 1 into another patch point.
MASSIVE OVER KILLL BUT LOVE IT
Im curious how you deal with dust in your studio, all the gear ready to go at all times, mics out... but what about the dust?
Luckily I don’t have a bad problem with it. I just wipe everything down every couple weeks
@@ColtCapperrune You might want to test this out, I just got mine yesterday.. its air humidifier/purifier, takes dry air in, gives out perfect 40-60% humidity, good for keeping you healthy and comfortable at work all day .. added bonus.. it removes dust and microbes from the air. Low maintenance, runs on 3 to 8W of power... VENTA LW25 Comfort Plus
My wife bought me a shit load of feather dusters. They transformed my studio dusting time from hours into a few minutes, and it's spotless afterwards.
All that spaghetti front right, lol…
Bring back the ns10s
Why don't you have any sound treatment in your room?
The walls are nearly 100% absorption. The entire room is solid acoustic treatment.
@@ColtCapperrune Oh ok that makes sense, 2 more question, how did you find your listening position and how did you choose the best place to put your speakers? It seems they are very close to your sitting position and not equilateral distance like everyone recommends?
Gear Porn.... Love it
iLoud video please ❤😩
what the hell is "iso cab" ?
AGAIN ?????? LOL
One simple question and answer. Why do we do this to ourselves, you ask????
All for sake of knowledge and wisdom, ladies and gentlemen.
Colt, I personally think that you’ll be writing books one day. You’ll have your own personal shelf in the citadel, teaching future generations how to ward off the white walkers of audio 😜🫶
Awesome setup
Love the new upgrades and those Shoes are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
looks sick!
Great vid man! Looks awesome.
Thanks man!
love the studio update , btw I use the rechargeable Magic Mouse and it has a battery life of two weeks or more , but if you’re a MacBook user I would rather to get the Magic Trackpad 😃
You gotta get rid of those HOSA snakes. They do the job on a budget but eventually they just completely fail for literally no reason.
What kind of patch cables and snakes are you using inside of the Dangerfox?
That's insane that you were able to do all of this in 24 hours. Every time I get the itch to change the studio around, it's usually an ill-conceived late night lightbulb that pops off in my head, and I spend the next 3-4 days bringing my new studio iteration to life. Props on the high-velocity change-up!
Love AudioScape gear !
I own the bus comp.
Never hurry, never wurry
Cables? snakes? 4 cables needed for every piece of gear
My heart was racing when you were moving stuff by the Focals without the ARB Covers on. 😫
Amazing setup! Lots of interesting toys. So you're still running the trashcan as your main machine?
Congrats! 🙏🙏
