- AMT (automated manual transmission) aka AGS (Auto gear shift) is a buzz word in the Indian automotive industry today, and credit for that goes to Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors. But only a very few people know about its technology, how it works and what makes it so affordable and easier to maintain. In this video, we have tried to answer all of those in this video along with a brief explanation on how to drive AMT cars. Hopefully you will like it.

This is the not your 1st video on AMT and lemme tell you no one has better explained this. Your presentation is stellar, thank you! Would love to hear about AMT's on cars other than Maruthi.
Unfortunately, AMT is the worst implementation I have ever experienced. It severely undermines handling and overall vehicle dynamics, cannot handle decent hills and traction sucks. CVT, DCT and even old school Torque converters are way better.
AMT is a half job, it needs more R&D, improved sensor tech on how to engage clutch vis a vis driver preferences. I had several close calls as AMT's are totally sluggish.
I could be wrong but no country has ever certified AMT's as road worthy 😬🙄
