SuperFinch This can be debatable, but WB could have been hesitant to release both trailers at the same time because the Suicide Squad trailer would have inevitably taken attention away from the Batman v Superman trailer. I still don't get how this trailer could be called flat. If you dont get anything out from the trailer, if you don't know what it is about, what the tone is, that is a flat trailer. Although we dont have anything else to go through currently story-wise, at least the trailer gave us a glimpse of what it is going to be. As for Harley Quinn, I doubt she's completely crazy.

I'm so tired of this" fun" quota. I want a dark tale about villains who are truly terrible people. I want dark humor, and Boomerang, Harley, and the joker provide that. The tone is like a horror/gothic/gangster take on the comic book genre, and I LOVE IT. There was a guy wearing a baby mask, a panda mask, and a animated batman mask... That's plenty fun for me. I thought Harley made this trailer, and joker gave the pay off.
To me, "fun" doesn't mean what everyone wants it to mean. You don't have to pack a movie with jokes, have everything all bright, and end fights with a dance off to be fun. I had fun with Dark Knight, why? Cause it was a good movie. You can be serious and entertaining simultaneously.
Retro bats I agree, I don't think a movie revolving around serial killers, rapists, and "the worst of the worst" should have fun attached to it. If these awful people started throwing around jokes and having a good time (like Avengers, for example), it would be an insult to the severity of the subject matter, like the writers are trying to make the Squad relatable. Joker is torturing Harleen Quinzel. Look back at it and there's a scene where Quinzel is strapped down with a leather belt in her mouth and Joker standing by her head looking down at her and touching her face.
"It didn't inspire me". Its not supposed to. They are villains. This doesn't have to be fun. It looks more like a psychological thriller. So expect that.

After watching this Footage then the trailers released afterwards, the tone is so different. You can tell if Ayer was left to do his own movie without any interference it would have come out a lot like the Comic Con Footage. I fear Warner Bro's wont learn from all this backlash though as the films still make money. No Director has yet to put their foot down when it comes to WB editing the movie. I enjoyed Suicide Squad but it really did have its problems, the last act felt like a completely different film compared to the first 2 acts. I'm hoping Wonder Woman doesn't suffer the same fate as both BvS and SS. Keep up the good work guys!

Andrew Edwards Are all the torture shots (there's at least 4) from the same scene? I think the last three are from the same scene, but can you see anything in the earlier torture shot (e.g., same walls, lamp) with Harleen to verify that it's the same scene?
If you watch the trailer and pause it you can see a point during it that Harley (as the doctor before becoming harley quinn) is strapped to a table and you can see the tattoos of the joker. The Joker is also wearing Arkham Asylum pants, the words Arkham are on his pants. That is Harley's back story about Joker torturing her.
The trailer was everything I wanted. It was weird, dark, and fun. Suicide Squad is dark humor but at the same time they make you feel for them. Im getting that from the trailer snd thats what Suicide Squad is about.
Adam's right, this was essentially a reel, a first look at the characters in motion, no more no less. Therefore I will hold judgment until a real full length trailer is released. That being said, I'm not as over the moon as I was with the BVS trailer, but I'm still looking forward to it.
At first I also didn't get too excited about it, as compared to the BvS trailer. But I kept coming back to it. And now, I think it has something very deep in it. Harley and the Joker, their stories, their character, the actors playing them, Will Smith, David Ayer... My excitement only rose.
It's a very complicated situation, isn't it? Kind of sucks for Ayer and WB that people are judging their film based on footage created solely for the SDCC audience. It's NOT a trailer. It's just a first look. The intention was to reward the SDCC audience with some footage. Surely this isn't how they wanted the whole world to see their film for the first time. On the other hand, it sucks for people living outside of America if this footage is exclusive to the SDCC audience. I'd love to go, but being in Australia, i just can't. I work most days and I still don't have the money. I saved and saved but just couldn't do it. I can't be there. It has nothing to do with me not putting in the effort. So it's rather narrow minded to say "too bad" to those who can't be there. It's more complicated than that. So yeah, they need to find another way. Do what Star Wars did and reward the fans who made it out with a unique experience that can't be replicated by bootleg footage. Did WB honestly think no one would leak it? They should also take a little blame for not rewarding the people who camped out with something more than just footage and panels. I hope CC can sort it all out moving forward. Anyway, great stuff once again guys.
Totally get where Auggy is coming from with the "meh" feeling. I can somewhat agree with him on that. I only wish we got to hear more speaking. I'm super curious as to where Margot's voice will fall. Will she mimick Tara Strong, try to do her own thing or find some middle ground. Not a fan of the costume either to be honest but that's a whole other thing. Atmosphere wise it felt good like it's what I expected. I've got high hopes for this lol.

I freaking loved the trailer, maybe a little more than the BvS one. It could be because I'm a sucker for these tone setting trailers with eerie covers of classic songs, but everything that was on screen was perfect for me. The latest BvS trailer sold me on the mature and more realistic tone they're setting for the DCEU, and this trailer matched that perfectly, in my opinion. I'm not expecting it to be fun or lighthearted, but rather intense and telling a story about bad people being forced to do the right thing and the mistakes that happen there. Agustin, I respect your opinion and hope they release something in the future to excite you, but I am beyond hyped for this movie. Great reaction as always guys!
THIS is the tone Ayer wanted. I'm so pissed we got the light hearted version. I like the one we got but I've got to admit it felt forced like in the middle of production they decided to make it light hearted. People kept complaining & complaining & complaining. Now we got a unfinished product. Also I noticed Hector says he wants this to be the Guardians of the Galaxy of DC that's EXACTLY the problem this is a damn SUICIDE Squad. I mean yes BVS was dark and Suicide Squad was gonna be dark but then we'd be getting Wonder Woman light heartedness showing DC's diversity. I blame all the Marvel fans & DC fans who complained.
The trailer itself shows that is Harley Quinn on the table, just go back and stop the scene! And I thought the trailer was really great, this is a group of villains, they don't see to be working together, the trailer show the they are been forced to do that, and you know that's not gonna work in the end, and god, Leto looks AWESOME as the Joker, the other Joker's performance were majestic, but if you think about it, this Joker is the only one ultil now that you can believe that beat Robin to death with a crowbar... well hold on now, think about it. Even though that happened in the comics, it might be a interesting story and something new. Instead of killing Jason the joker physically and mentally tortures him for months/years to the point where he has birthed and formed a new joker. The joker could be knocking on deaths door , and he breaks Jason so he can take his place. With joker knowing full well that this will torture and affect batman for the rest of his life....... Making this new joker a more interesting villain for batman to face.......
MrHero17 they won't do it for several reasons: 1. You will waste the origin of the joker (also its already hinted in latest suicide squad photos) and you will spoil the mystery of the character 2. You will waste the character of jason todd/ Red hood 3. Snyder stays so true to the comics like no one else (look at watchmen and man of steel) 4. You will fuck up many storylines they can adapt and apparently the killing joke, death in the family is already in bvs.
The reason you don't feel a connection to the characters is because the trailer didn't show tons on action scenes and comedic one-liners like in Age of Ultron.
The movie hasn't even finished filming. This trailer was shown only for people at Comic-Con but after someone leaked it on the internet, WB decided to officially release it. The full trailer will come out either by the end of the year or next year, but next year is most likely.
I think it's great to have a wide variety of opinions, because it makes for interesting discussions and I think it's healthy to have multiple perspectives on things.

When ilfirst heard they were making a suicide squad movie I was pumped but this first look was kind of meeh. Although I did like Harley I feel she was what made the first look for me. We will see what comes with the trailer later on

Well Marvel also has properties like the Thunderbolts, Masters of Evil, the Cabal, Serpent Society, Wrecking Crew, Dark Avengers, and Sinister Six that they could adapt to the big screen in some capacity.
Josh Rock I could definitely see Thunderbolts or Dark Avengers heading their own movie. All the others, I would leave to be villain teams that heroes fight in their own movies. I've been against the idea of a Sinister Six movie since it was rumored at Sony. I think that movie wouldn't work without Spider-Man as the lead. But good point, Josh!
Adam is on point, this isn't a trailer which was supposed to be marketed towards general audience, that's why WB was hesitant to release it, but it is well received regardless only because it looks so good because of the actors showing little glimpses of good performances. SS is still filming, so they can't possibly give you a taste of whole movie at this point, this footage was only put together shots they filmed yet. So judging the tone is pointless at this time, just enjoy that WB has released the HD quality.
Agustin said bad guys aren't going to just work together because Will Smith says let's work together. They will however, work together because Amanda Waller said so. Remember, they have explosive chips in their heads so if any of them go rogue, they get the instant death penalty. For that reason, they will work together without any prior chemistry with each other.
I respectfully have to disagree with you guys. This was based on what they have been shooting since April/May, and it already looks good. I like that it's dark and moody as it should be, because these characters are villains and they should be villains. There are still some twisted humour in the goons in the panda costume, Batman, goat, eyeball and baby masks. I've it over and over and it looks great.

His statement about the entire movie taking place 10 years ago doesn't work. The reason I say this is the first scene where Waller is talking specifically states that this takes place after Man of Steel, because that was the first appearance of Superman. I think there will be flashbacks, specifically the scenes of Harley being tortured and turned into Harley Quinn.

It adds to the conflicts that the characters will have to deal with. They're not always going to work well together because they're being forced to do so. Amanda Waller also has leverage over each of them. Like she said "Getting people to act against their own self interest is what I do for a living." Gotta understand too, this is a "teaser" trailer. It's meant to hit a couple of points without spoiling the movie. Look for the more action packed trailers to come later on. This movie still is a long way from being released.
I'd like this movie to be a lot about Harley Quinn fighting between Amanda Wallace and the Joker. Keeping close enough to Amanda to stay safe, but far away enough to be evil. Getting close enough to stopping Joker, but far away enough so the Suicide Squads' protection is on going.
I'm a Marvel guy. I don't read DC-comics. But this and BvS look really interesting. I really love idea of government making superpowered criminals work as this sort of anti-hero team. I love that it's clearly different from Marvel. Will Smith and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje are awesome.
Amanda Waller says, "Superman must have been like a beacon that brought all of these super beings out of the shadows." she mention Superman which means this movie takes place after man of steel and BvS picks off from where MOS ends, so maybe Robin was not killed by joker. Still too early to say, but one thing is for sure that this all is will take place after MOS.

I've noticed that many times : the dude on the right is pretty much as entertaining as watching paint dry (sorry, dude on the right), and it's no surprise that he's the one who thought the trailer "fell flat" (dafuq ?). It's not a question of having an opinion different than mine : he clearly didn't want to like it from the beginning, and I don't watch these kind of videos to feel that kind of negative vibe. The dude on the left is perfect for that : he's positive AND has arguments. Anyway. For example, I didn't have ANY expectations before watching the trailer, mainly because I don't know shit about the comic, and I found the promotional picture lame too... but it didn't stop me from finding the trailer absolutely stunning. My expectations went from 10% to 90%. Another thing : since when are being rated R and having a "long lasting thing" incompatible ? I want both. And I'll have both ! :)

I agree with Augi, its good don't get me wrong and I think the movie will prove me wrong but that series of clips was 'flat', the joker didn't really spook me, Harley Quinn was good Will Smith was a bit annoying he shouldn't be Deadshot. Jason Statham should have been Deadshot, not "Lets go save the World" Will Smith if he tries to be funny in this film he will have ruined a good Villian.

Joker is torturing Harleen Quinzel. Look back at it and there's a scene where Quinzel is strapped down with a leather belt in her mouth and Joker standing by her head looking down at her and touching her face.
We didn't look back at it until after we were done filming. First impression, first reaction.
"It didn't inspire me". Its not supposed to. They are villains. This doesn't have to be fun. It looks more like a psychological thriller. So expect that.

After watching this Footage then the trailers released afterwards, the tone is so different. You can tell if Ayer was left to do his own movie without any interference it would have come out a lot like the Comic Con Footage. I fear Warner Bro's wont learn from all this backlash though as the films still make money. No Director has yet to put their foot down when it comes to WB editing the movie. I enjoyed Suicide Squad but it really did have its problems, the last act felt like a completely different film compared to the first 2 acts. I'm hoping Wonder Woman doesn't suffer the same fate as both BvS and SS. Keep up the good work guys!

If you watch the trailer and pause it you can see a point during it that Harley (as the doctor before becoming harley quinn) is strapped to a table and you can see the tattoos of the joker. The Joker is also wearing Arkham Asylum pants, the words Arkham are on his pants. That is Harley's back story about Joker torturing her.

The trailer was everything I wanted. It was weird, dark, and fun. Suicide Squad is dark humor but at the same time they make you feel for them. Im getting that from the trailer snd thats what Suicide Squad is about.

Adam's right, this was essentially a reel, a first look at the characters in motion, no more no less. Therefore I will hold judgment until a real full length trailer is released. That being said, I'm not as over the moon as I was with the BVS trailer, but I'm still looking forward to it.
At first I also didn't get too excited about it, as compared to the BvS trailer. But I kept coming back to it. And now, I think it has something very deep in it. Harley and the Joker, their stories, their character, the actors playing them, Will Smith, David Ayer... My excitement only rose.
It's a very complicated situation, isn't it? Kind of sucks for Ayer and WB that people are judging their film based on footage created solely for the SDCC audience. It's NOT a trailer. It's just a first look. The intention was to reward the SDCC audience with some footage. Surely this isn't how they wanted the whole world to see their film for the first time.
On the other hand, it sucks for people living outside of America if this footage is exclusive to the SDCC audience. I'd love to go, but being in Australia, i just can't. I work most days and I still don't have the money. I saved and saved but just couldn't do it. I can't be there. It has nothing to do with me not putting in the effort. So it's rather narrow minded to say "too bad" to those who can't be there. It's more complicated than that.
So yeah, they need to find another way. Do what Star Wars did and reward the fans who made it out with a unique experience that can't be replicated by bootleg footage. Did WB honestly think no one would leak it? They should also take a little blame for not rewarding the people who camped out with something more than just footage and panels. I hope CC can sort it all out moving forward.

I freaking loved the trailer, maybe a little more than the BvS one. It could be because I'm a sucker for these tone setting trailers with eerie covers of classic songs, but everything that was on screen was perfect for me. The latest BvS trailer sold me on the mature and more realistic tone they're setting for the DCEU, and this trailer matched that perfectly, in my opinion. I'm not expecting it to be fun or lighthearted, but rather intense and telling a story about bad people being forced to do the right thing and the mistakes that happen there. Agustin, I respect your opinion and hope they release something in the future to excite you, but I am beyond hyped for this movie. Great reaction as always guys!
THIS is the tone Ayer wanted. I'm so pissed we got the light hearted version. I like the one we got but I've got to admit it felt forced like in the middle of production they decided to make it light hearted. People kept complaining & complaining & complaining. Now we got a unfinished product. Also I noticed Hector says he wants this to be the Guardians of the Galaxy of DC that's EXACTLY the problem this is a damn SUICIDE Squad. I mean yes BVS was dark and Suicide Squad was gonna be dark but then we'd be getting Wonder Woman light heartedness showing DC's diversity. I blame all the Marvel fans & DC fans who complained.
The trailer itself shows that is Harley Quinn on the table, just go back and stop the scene! And I thought the trailer was really great, this is a group of villains, they don't see to be working together, the trailer show the they are been forced to do that, and you know that's not gonna work in the end, and god, Leto looks AWESOME as the Joker, the other Joker's performance were majestic, but if you think about it, this Joker is the only one ultil now that you can believe that beat Robin to death with a crowbar... Instead of killing Jason the joker physically and mentally tortures him for months/years to the point where he has birthed and formed a new joker. The joker could be knocking on deaths door , and he breaks Jason so he can take his place. With joker knowing full well that this will torture and affect batman for the rest of his life....... Making this new joker a more interesting villain for batman to face.......

1. You will waste the origin of the joker (also its already hinted in latest suicide squad photos) and you will spoil the mystery of the character
2. You will waste the character of jason todd/ Red hood
3. Snyder stays so true to the comics like no one else (look at watchmen and man of steel)
4. You will fuck up many storylines they can adapt and apparently the killing joke, death in the family is already in bvs.

The movie hasn't even finished filming. This trailer was shown only for people at Comic-Con but after someone leaked it on the internet, WB decided to officially release it. The full trailer will come out either by the end of the year or next year, but next year is most likely.

When ilfirst heard they were making a suicide squad movie I was pumped but this first look was kind of meeh. Although I did like Harley I feel she was what made the first look for me. We will see what comes with the trailer later on

Well Marvel also has properties like the Thunderbolts, Masters of Evil, the Cabal, Serpent Society, Wrecking Crew, Dark Avengers, and Sinister Six that they could adapt to the big screen in some capacity.
Josh Rock I could definitely see Thunderbolts or Dark Avengers heading their own movie.
All the others, I would leave to be villain teams that heroes fight in their own movies. I've been against the idea of a Sinister Six movie since it was rumored at Sony. I think that movie wouldn't work without Spider-Man as the lead.

Adam is on point, this isn't a trailer which was supposed to be marketed towards general audience, that's why WB was hesitant to release it, but it is well received regardless only because it looks so good because of the actors showing little glimpses of good performances. SS is still filming, so they can't possibly give you a taste of whole movie at this point, this footage was only put together shots they filmed yet. So judging the tone is pointless at this time, just enjoy that WB has released the HD quality.
Agustin said bad guys aren't going to just work together because Will Smith says let's work together. They will however, work together because Amanda Waller said so. Remember, they have explosive chips in their heads so if any of them go rogue, they get the instant death penalty. For that reason, they will work together without any prior chemistry with each other.

I respectfully have to disagree with you guys. This was based on what they have been shooting since April/May, and it already looks good. I like that it's dark and moody as it should be, because these characters are villains and they should be villains. There are still some twisted humour in the goons in the panda costume, Batman, goat, eyeball and baby masks. I've it over and over and it looks great.

The reason I say this is the first scene where Waller is talking specifically states that this takes place after Man of Steel, because that was the first appearance of Superman. I think there will be flashbacks, specifically the scenes of Harley being tortured and turned into Harley Quinn.

I truly believe that people who aren't excited after seeing that trailer are just trying to be one of those "against the grain hipsters". Seriously, what other explanation is there?! This trailer absolutely hit it out of the park. Dare I say it was better than the Batman v Superman trailer. It was very good, either way.

The comments about them not being able to work together because they're all villains is one of the points that a lot of suicide squad stories bring up. It adds to the conflicts that the characters will have to deal with. They're not always going to work well together because they're being forced to do so. Amanda Waller also has leverage over each of them. Like she said "Getting people to act against their own self interest is what I do for a living." Gotta understand too, this is a "teaser" trailer. It's meant to hit a couple of points without spoiling the movie. Look for the more action packed trailers to come later on. This movie still is a long way from being released.
I'd like this movie to be a lot about Harley Quinn fighting between Amanda Wallace and the Joker. Keeping close enough to Amanda to stay safe, but far away enough to be evil. Getting close enough to stopping Joker, but far away enough so the Suicide Squads' protection is on going.

I'm a Marvel guy. I don't read DC-comics. But this and BvS look really interesting. I really love idea of government making superpowered criminals work as this sort of anti-hero team. I love that it's clearly different from Marvel. Will Smith and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje are awesome.

I've noticed that many times : the dude on the right is pretty much as entertaining as watching paint dry (sorry, dude on the right), and it's no surprise that he's the one who thought the trailer "fell flat" (dafuq ?). It's not a question of having an opinion different than mine : he clearly didn't want to like it from the beginning, and I don't watch these kind of videos to feel that kind of negative vibe. The dude on the left is perfect for that : he's positive AND has arguments. Anyway. For example, I didn't have ANY expectations before watching the trailer, mainly because I don't know shit about the comic, and I found the promotional picture lame too... but it didn't stop me from finding the trailer absolutely stunning. My expectations went from 10% to 90%. Another thing : since when are being rated R and having a "long lasting thing" incompatible ? I want both. And I'll have both ! :)

Jason Statham should have been Deadshot, not "Lets go save the World" Will Smith if he tries to be funny in this film he will have ruined a good Villian.
