  • This video will show how to install a Mr. heater infrared garage heater. It will take you step by step through the process of my installation. With recording, the install took about an hour and was pretty straight forward. I’ll cover the ins and outs of what is included and what is not and what you will need to purchase in order to complete your install.

    Thanks! Mine came with the wall mount bracket but natural gas connection was the same. The "trap" was a nice touch as well. Stay warm indeed!

      The trap is supposed to be piped as in the picture of the instructions. It will collect debris better. Just a tip. 😉

    I have one of these units and moisture is very high would you recommend a power vent to pull air outside and if yes would you locate it near heater or opposite wall near garage door? thanks for your video.

    • @hootyshowto48

      If you are having a issue with moisture a dehumidifier would probably solve that for you. You could locate it wherever you like and best of all no holes to drill 🤗

    Thanks for the video. Is there any concern about carbon monoxide etc. coming from the heater with the bedroom being above the garage? I have the same situation and I’m hesitant because there is no vent. If no problems for you I think I’ll go ahead and install one..

    • @hootyshowto48

      Thanks for checking out the video. My wife had the same concern and I didn’t want to take any chances either. I purchased a carbon monoxide and explosive gas detector and have it plugged into an outlet in the garage. I’ve had absolutely no readings since installing it. Here’s the link for the one I purchased, however I bought mine from a local big box store.

    Thanks for the video, I am thinking of installing this unit on my patio under my aluminum/glass canopy. Wondering how much clearance you have between the heater and the ceiling? Does it make the ceiling pretty hot above the heater? Did you end you having to put a heat shield or lowering the unit? Thanks for your help!

    • @hootyshowto48
      @hootyshowto48  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for checking out the video. I am having issues with clearance I hope to address in a follow up video. Overall the unit is great. In your case based off of what you described, I would not recommend mounting it close to the ceiling. Given that it would be near glass, I would imagine with the heat and cold (potential snow as well) you could experience catastrophic cracking/breaking of the glass. I would either consider a different unit, or alternative mounting location. Potentially some kind of heat deflector could benefit you and possibly work, but I still would have to suggest something else. Hope that helps. Thank you for your question.

  • @philbaker29
    @philbaker29 3 роки тому

    Any issues so far with the mounting location? Everything I read suggest 2ft plus clearance, but I don't really know if it is necessary.

    • @hootyshowto48

      Definitely keep the recommended distances. Mine ended up being too close to the ceiling and caused some discoloration. I have since moved it down from the ceiling to about 36” and added a homemade deflector. All has been well since.

      harry sharl thank you for checking out the video. If your area is fairly open it may work. If you have several closed off rooms you may have a problem with the warm air circulating throughout the space. I’ve been meaning to do an update video, but I have been busy with several other projects. There is a smell that is emitted because of the pilot light. If you don’t think that will be a bother to you it may be for you. I did purchase a CO/explosive gas meter from Menards. It’s a simple plug in model similar to a straight CO monitor most people have in their homes. I got no readings for CO or explosive gases being present, so it doesn’t seem to be a concern of endangering health with the fumes. You are within the range of the square footage this heater can handle (768 sq feet) it’s pretty efficient it only turned on for about ten minutes every hour and a half to two hours in my insulated and dry walled garage. So if you don’t mind the smell and your floor plan is pretty open and you meet the requirements as far as mounting it properly it may work fine for your application. Thank you again for checking it out and subscribing.

      Yes. I keep saying I’ll have a follow up video, but life keeps getting in the way. I have since moved it further down from the ceiling and added a deflector above the ceramic tiles where the heat comes out. It has worked very well so far.

    How do wires work without any electric power ?

    • @hootyshowto48
      @hootyshowto48  4 роки тому +1

      There is an electric signal being passed through the wires, but as there are no moving parts with this system (blower motor, electric ignition) it does not require typical A/C power that you would find in a standard outlet. Instead it works on millivolts D/C which is a much smaller current and generated by the system itself. So no external power is needed to run the heater. Thank you for checking out the video and I hope that answered your question.
