How very sad. She should have won the competition and I wish she'd won her battle with cancer. So many arseholes still living pointless or harmful lives. What a terrible loss and I feel for her sisters. Such a crying shame. RIP.

55th ANNIVERSARY HER BIRTH TODAY!!! BERNARDETTE THERESE NOLAN (17 October 1960 - 4 July 2013) was an Irish born actress, singer and television personality, formerly lead vocalist of the girl group The Nolans.
This is a jolly nice idea for a TV programme. It's fun to see finding amature's hidden talent like other audition shows, but I prefer this show. I really enjoy watching the professional singers are polishing and refining to be an opera singer-like. I praise all of them for a new challenge too. I wouldn't mind who is gonna win, but hope Bernie or Marcella will do. Thank you very much for the post. I really appreciate it from Japan.

I'm simple listener... who hasn't studied music...and i totally prefer her version of this song than the one of Jenkins... Which i thought would be weird to express, I'm happy someone with music knowledge agrees with me...
Good for her! :_)) She'll make an even better noise when they've taught her to breath properly. That great heaving of the ribcage isn't a good way to start a sound. Think how it'll be richer when she puts the rest of her body to work and relaxes up top. All those years in Blood Brothers show through. That time she spent singing strong music theatre means she has a natural dramatic drive.
My 6 year old daughter loves this song and chose to learn it on piano + learned the Lyrics to sing & play together. She is half Italian. But this has mainly been sung by men in Italy. I like Katherine Jenkin's Mezzo voice, but my daughter prefers to listen to this, as she says Katherine jenkins voice is too deep and artificial sounding to her.

@tedsler Kat Jenkins is not a very good opera singer and she lacks a lot of training in fact Bernie Nolan did a lot better than Ms Jenkins on tone alone. If you listen to Kat she swallows her vowels and does not have a good forward placement where as Bernie does - yes I know Bernie has lots of training to do - ie another 10 years but if you ask me - she gave a far purer performance than Jenkins. My opinion as a teacher in New Zealand of voice.
