Oh yea, your recent videos are even better than the one I originally commented on. I love your attention to the quality of your cinematography. The fact you take time to cut away to each card, making it easier to read -- the b-roll shots of the pieces set up. Yeaaaa, your videos are total eye candy. Love it bro
I'm not sure I can live up to that excitement but thank you. I absolutely love the game. It does a great job of bringing the video game to the table. And I might be a hipster, but I have more fun manipulating the cards in my hand than clicking buttons on my computer. And you can play multiplayer. Amazing game! Thanks so much for watching!
This was a great video! I know you only planned on showing Act 1, but I’d love to see you continue your run with the Silent (especially since you’ve built up such an awesome shiv combo!)
Yeah, I was thinking about it. The combo is ridiculous. Could be fun or could be boringly OP. Hard to say. Right now I'm at a possibly maybe. Thanks for watching!
Glad more people are now experiencing StS! I do feel the boardgame is at its best as a 3-4 player coop as the player interactions become fantastic and the roles synergise. Do love the "Set a Watch" series which feels like a lighter and easier to set up/put away "StS" for a solo (but also good at 2-3) - especially SoTC with the merchant.
As always. Great explanation. Good run! In my multiyplayer rounds it always happened that The Silent player went for poison, which was very strong. Nice to see that shivs also rock!
Yeah, I went for poison my first time playing the Silent and when the shiv powers showed up, I was excited to try something new. Love the Silent. Thanks for checking out the playthrough!
I got on the second crowdfunding campaign for Red Dragon so I'm still waiting for it, but very excited to try it out. I think my kids will really enjoy it. Slay the Spire has been amazing. Love it. Definitely one of the top games of the year so far. Thanks for watching!
Great video! The only mistake I could find, that was glaring anyway, was the boss fight after swapping it to defensive mode. Those shivs count as attacks, and should therefor trigger the spike damage per shiv... so with the final 5 shives (10 damage) you should have taken 5 damage... which is inconsequential given you'd still win... but if you weren't full hp you might have had to consider a different line... unless I'm mistaken?
I couldn't read it but my son is pretty sure the boss in defense mode has an ability that each attack you make deals you 1 damage, so you would have taken 5 damage at the end against the boss? Doesn't affect the end result though.
I was going to say this, but you beat me to it. He did have 1 block, so it would be 4 damage... and potentially he could have blocked more first if he had defend. As you said, it didn't affect the end result.
Ha, maybe one day but honestly I haven't played Arkham Horror in a long time. I play AH the card game, which is one of my favorites, and sometimes Eldritch Horror. Thanks for watching!
It says in the rulebook that "if you are out of Shiv tokens and you gain a Shiv, you can deal Shiv damage immediately or skip gaining the Shiv." So I think the combo works.
@@riotvale That's a tough question because I don't know if ANY game is worth $200+. I will say that this game, multiplayer, might be the closest. It is awesome.
Is it that expensive? That's far too much in my opinion. It is a great card game, and I get it comes with hundreds of cards and sleeves for those cards, but it is hard to justify that price, IMHO. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, for that price I'd expect an epic experience or some kind of deluxe treatment. This is a fantastic game and nice production, but really isn't epic or deluxe. I paid half that, reluctantly, and I now feel happy with that purchase. But value is subjective for each person. Thanks!
@@TotallyTabled yeah the collector's edition is for that much - even the base retail is about $150. Game looks interesting, but it might just be a TTS game at this point... but then why not just play the actual video game?
@@riotvale The main answer is "multiplayer," which some people won't care about. As far as solo goes, it's the whole "why read the book when you can watch the movie" argument. How much does the physical experience mean to you? If not that much, then the money can be better spent elsewhere.
Really its just multiplayer and the novelty of the physical cards. A great quote from the SU&SD review is his comparison of the cards to being akin to movie props. Whether those two things are worth it to you is entirely based on your financial situation, your love of the game, your appreciation for tactility in board games vs just wanting to have the gameplay. I personally bought the game because of Multiplayer but this could easily be seen as NOT worth it for many people.
I guess I don't consider physically shuffling cards to be "fiddly." It does add multiplayer, which is big for me as I've had fun playing with my kids. For solo, it is a very similar experience, just in a physical form, which will be meaningless for most people. Personally, I gain so much more joy from physically handling the cards, drawing them, holding them in my hand...it makes everything feel more meaningful to me. But I'm a board game hipster. For the majority human beings on this earth, this game is a pass and they should just play the video game (unless they want to play multiplayer). Thanks for watching, Peter!
@@TotallyTabledApparently if you were born before everything was digital then u just respond better to physically holding things. From what I can see it looks like it's lost all forms of combo strategies. (Burst doesn't affect itself, orbs aren't real things in slots, I'm guessing this means all loops are kaput)

This helped alot to understand the game. Does not seem as complicated as I first imagined but seems fun :)
That was a great playthrough. Thanks, Shaggy. Please also consider a solo playthrough of the Anachrony.

I think this game is best deck building

minute 08:00 Normally you'd have to pay 1 energy to play Dagger Throw but you didn't have any energy to pay it, correct?
I had three energy, I just forgot to move the marker at the start of my turn. You get three energy every attack round. Thanks for watching!
@@TotallyTabled Correct! I thought so. 🙂
I think when the card says to any player that means you too?
Yes, that is my understanding. Thanks for watching!
Please make a tutorial for Arkham Horror

Dis game is good
I don’t think your burst combo works, since you would immediately need to play your skill card again, before being able to attack with your 5 shivs
It says in the rulebook that "if you are out of Shiv tokens and you gain a Shiv, you can deal Shiv damage immediately or skip gaining the Shiv." So I think the combo works.
@@TotallyTabled oh, ok, my bad, good combo (still waiting on my pre-order 😕)

Looks decent, I don't think this game would have much replayability for me and would feel very repetitive very quickly though.
As someone who thinks Slay the Spire is the best deck-builder ever made, I just don’t know what this version adds other than fiddliness.
