Yeah, to me these clothes don’t really feel like Monster High. The fabric patterns feel more like Monster High paint on Killstar’s own designs. I wish we had gotten what you mentioned about the replica pieces instead, or even just inspired by pieces. Imagine some athletic wear inspired by Lagoona, or a Cleo dress.
Speaking of wearable reproductions of their outfits, I've got a Frankie vest I got from Spirit Halloween last year and I love it. Great quality honestly. I think I remember them having some Draculaura stuff too, which I might have to buy this year.
my eyes are trained to identify knitting so i looked up more pictures of the "knitted vest" and i think it is knit, the black is probably a chenille type yarn (the kind a lot of crochet plushies are made with) but the white isnt fluffy so thats probably just acrylic or something this isnt important i just got very invested in it for a minute so i figured id share my results lol
Also yeah i relate to the price issue-i prefer thrifting basic black clothing and just modify them or buy second hand alternative clothing on sites like poshmark then buy a really pricey shirt
I got the coffin bag ⚰️ I'm not going to use it in a traditional way as a guy, but I'll use it for storage. Not that there's anything wrong with a guy rocking the bag, i just don't have the guts lol.
I think the best parts are the bags (wish the locker bags were hot pink like the OG play-set lockers though) and the patchwork looking mesh pieces, the rest are fine but don't excite me. I already have a 3 monster high bags though so I probably won't get them unless they go on a really good sale.
I do think its easier to put things in pockets(tho i do lowky have trauma from the time i lost my phone completly cus i put it in a pocket instead😭) but i still like bags - my issue is their so small so you cant put much in them(im an art student so ofc i neec to carry tons of things)
I think these are pretty cute but i also think it could be a waste of money to spend so much on these where you could buy similar ones for cheaper and style it like these ones!
I can't help but compare these to the mh stuff we got through hot topic... and I think I like the killstar stuff WAYYYY better ...dunno if I wanna spend on it tho. Maybe that big loose cardigan if it goes on sale...

I understand they want to make mh clothes that arent cosplay. But also since we havent gotten too many character specific fashions and several characters still havent gotten anything, i would have much preferred that. Hot topic just did a frankie dress and the main trio haunt couture. That is currently all that exists for semi accurate fashion. There is no lagoona, no cleo, no ghoulia clothes of any kind ever made. I want that. So judging them for what they are: these clothes arent very plus friendly. Like they come in plus, but the style and fit isnt flattering for everyone. The bodycon dress being the biggest example of that. Sure you could just get a tshirt, but if i wanted that id just go to hot topic. The Cardigan: hilariously i think spirit Halloween did it better. They did a crop argyle cardigan vest Skirt: its generic. Like not just the print i mean it's just a basic circle skirt with no added details. Dress: this is the print put on something better and works for more body types. Simple tshirt esque dresses are a popular thing, but i would have at least wanted lace trim for the price. Still misses all around Leggings: it would have been more interesting if they did the print in different colors. Meh Backpack: neat, but i like literally every hot topic bag better. I could do the same thing with a coffin backpack and a mh lock keychain Ghouls wanna have fun shirt: at least they made the sleeves mesh. Wish the art of the characters was character art instead of the dolls Argyle bodycon dress: terrible. Literally not designed with different body types in mind Long sleeve shirt: again, if i just wanted print on a basic shirt id go to hot topic Journal bag: spirit Halloween also already did it. Granted this is bigger and has more stickers designed on it. Fuzzy sleeveless top they call a vest: ok, finally something that could work. Its a unique fabric with a simple skullete, and its a style that when layered with a sleeved top underneath would be a great winter piece. So the cost is the main sticking point but at that cost i expect nice non itchy fabric. So maybe yes for winter Peter pan collar top: i love tops with this collar, but sleeveless? No Patchwork top: again it looks like the fit is SKIN TIGHT. JEEZ. I actually like the print itself but they keep making skin tight shit with it Skullete cardigan: basic and simple, something id expect from hot topic, but at least looks good and would look good on anybody All in all i like hot topic and spirit Halloweens stuff and prices better, and i just hope they keep making more stuff. Im so sick and tired of waiting for lagoonas hoodie that im making my own dammit. Wish me luck
