I totally agree that you don't have to master an accent perfectly. I'm a native English speaker, but because I grew up in various parts of the world, my accent is hard to pin down, and nobody would question the fact that I'm a native speaker. And, I think having a little bit of an accent just gives you character. But, making yourself understood is important. I have a strange problem in that I speak Afrikaans with an almost perfect accent because I spoke it as a very young child, but then mostly grew up in countries where it isn't spoken. Because of that, when I do speak to someone, they assume that I can speak perfectly because my accent sounds good. Good video!
One thing that’s really helped me in language learning and i would recommend the same approach for anyone else is focusing on pronunciation from the start-it massively improves understandability early on, and it’s much easier than trying to fix mispronunciations later.👍 Instead of aiming for a specific accent, I’ve found it more helpful to put my energy into clear pronunciation and let my accent develop naturally over time. With so much variation in accents across cities and regions within the same country, it feels more authentic to build your own unique style as you improve. 🙌 A strong foundation in pronunciation not only supports clear communication but also lets your natural voice come through in the language, rather than feeling like your putting on a performance.🎭
I loved this video!!! Make more of those videos with 20/25 minutes or more! I know it requires a lot of effort, and that's OK if it is not suitable, but I just loved this onee ❤❤❤
Love your videos! Very good, practical tips for working on accent. One way I work on my accent is to record myself (audio) then playback listen to myself---usually a few sentences at a time: headphones are recommended to help focus attention on the sound of our voice and on pronunciation, tones, inflection, etc in the target language.
Thanks for the video! Just a note (no hate!!) I am Italian and when you speak spanish and french I can hear an English accent. It is more heavy on Spanish. Your English accent is very nice and flows very well, thank you for all the input you gave me. ❤😊
I really like your video and I always mimic your accent. Because I’m also from Asia (Japan ) So I am able to mimic yours that is easier than others. I keep leaning it ❤Thank you and I admire you always:)
maybe you have already done this, but I would love to see a video or podcast episode of you discussing how you began solo-travelling, the benefits, the downsides, how it has changed your worldview/mindset, confidence, etc.
Loved your accent when speaking french, you can tell it is foreign but it is very intelligible. Thanks for the tips. I am trying to learn thai but i struggle with the tones, people don't understand me when i speak ^^
I love your channel. I just had an English exam. Could you give some advice for listening test? I mean I understood everything but when I had to answer I was confusing because it wasn’t only listening to. It was really tricky…
How we can avoid making confusion among different languages we speak? like I just know English but again I mix it alot with my native language so how can i study another language in this case. It really disappoints me 😥. How you cant mix the languages? And my specific problem is vocabulary. I mix vocabularies and i dont know how to learn vocabulary. I will be glad if you can respond to me.
Mss pearly i wanna l advice from you, my level A2 in English can l start to improve my speaking skill or waiting until reach to b1 or b2 level to start improving my speaking skill.?
