A Walk around Chorley, Lancashire, Sony Xperia Z test images

A small market town in central Lancashire, Chorley. It has several interesting buildings and a large outdoor market on Tuesdays. With bright sunshine and cloudy intervals it made an ideal test day for the Sony Xperia Z to see how it handled the deep shadows created between the tall buildings.

The one to watch is the Nokia Lumia 1020 however the windows operating system and lack of apps is really against it. It's a good indication of how the technology in these devices is going to evolve in the next couple of years

Chorley was the birthplace of Charles Lightoller, who was the Second Officer of the infamous Titanic ship, and was a very lucky survivor in the 1912 maiden voyage disaster.

Graham, what software did you use to get the zoom effects?

We are not comparing like with like. What I am impressed with the Xperia is the resolution and colour fidelity especially in bright sunlight. Obviously the FZ200 has optical zoom which the Z does not and the ability to use aperture for effect on the FZ200 is a big benefit. If the typical user just uses the FZ200 in iA mode with the camera set to wide angle then I believe the Sony Xperia will deliver equal if not better results as the camera can use lower iso values ( I seen 40 in the EXIF data)

Its just the standard time line zoom that is available on most video editing programs, no special effect.
