I kind of laughed how he thought the map was pointless because you can just access the different areas with the menu, but his next point was it’s too hard to find the one area that isn’t accessible via the menu.
Some things about Turf War I wanted to mention: Splatting even one person in Turf Wars is actually super important, it makes the entire team lose 1/4 of its power for usually around 10 seconds, which can be doubled by killing just one more person, and it allows for a chance to resplat them when the super jump, and that's huge when each person is so valuable to the team. Spending one second to splat someone is FAR better than spending one second to splat a tiny bit of turf that will just get resplatted by the opposing team later. If you get a wipeout at pretty much any point in the game, you've probably won. It's not the most competitive mode though, it's true that the tides can completely change in just 10 seconds. Also Turf War isn't in ranked partly because of this last part I mentioned, the tides can turn in just 10 seconds.
When i heard him say killing wasnt worth it, i was about to rage so hard... goes to show why people get so many bad team mates. Cause people just dont get how the game works🤦♂️
@@epacenter9548 Yeah no, those heavy aggressive people that rushes the opposing team base and to 'get kills' are the most laughable, especially when they try chasing you around half the map just to get their precious kill on you, but they get splatted themselves by your teammates, and essentially they are ignoring key points to Ink, that the opposing team will have trouble getting too, in the end its all about inking (yes killing helps) but ink ink and ink is the best advice to give, and honestly people don't get how to play when they chase around one person for so long or trying so hard to splat the entire time, that's the serious face palm moments are players like those.
@@noctis6826 i hate rushing straight to enemy spawn, thats not what its about... he is saying getting kills doesnt matter over inking and its like "what!?!?" Because getting kills changes the whole match. Also dont confuse getting spawn camped and getting pushed back to your base, im okay with pushing the enemy team back and keeping them back, but rushing straight to spawn to camp is dumb like you said. Just because i say kills should be valued highly doesnt mean im saying spawn camp people
@@noctis6826 Some weapons are simply made for aggressiveness and cover little ink, and some are very good at covering ground. You usually want at least one aggressive weapon/player, having all people focus almost exclusively on covering turf is not great, especially during the first 30 seconds of a match. Get the aggressive player/players to that middle point and make a wall, the majority of your base will be inked by respawning players anyway.
I hate that excuse about turf war. Get a group of people that are actually good vs another good group and it instantly isnt a casual mode. Also the fact that tides can turn on a dime make it that much more thrilling. Fans have been begging for ranked turf mode for YEARS! It’s pathetic that they refuse to add it.
I mean technically you didn't go over everything because you didn't mention table turf battles which aren't the best to begin with but they aren't bad. Really good video though always enjoyed the content you put out 😊
I'll be very honest about this one: outside of a very few deep cut songs, the music doesn't hit as hard as the previous games (in my opinion, please dont murder me, fellow woomers and octlers). It just sounds very "synthetic," like they used computer-generated versions of percussion/electric guitars instead of actual instruments. At some point listening to the soundtrack, I did get frustrated at how similar most songs sounded. Anarchy Rainbow is so damn good, but most all other songs just don't hit the same mood to jam out. Maybe that's the point of the chaos/anarchy theme, maybe it's my nostalgic talking, but there's my take.
the amount of connection issues is actually ridiculous. especially when you finally get into a battle and then someone ELSE disconnects. like i get nintendo’s online servers are notorious for instability but i can’t help but feel it’s especially bad this time round.
Splat Zones is essentially the ranked version of Turf Wars! Same concept, but you have to maintain turf in a smaller area. Splatting the opponent team becomes more important, as does holding the same turf. But all the Turf Wars skills transfer over pretty directly. Also, I've really been enjoying locker simulator while the multiplayer is stuck in 'A communication error has occurred' mode.
10:50 Actually, your friends lockers do show up. Kind of. The lockers on the far right wall once you go in are your friends. I only noticed by chance when I was scrolling through them all and recognized a friends name. They tend to cycle through your friends as well. Lockers right next to yours directly are people you just played with. I'm not quite sure what the lockers on the left are, maybe most popular? Someone else let me know if they've figured out.
A shame they didn’t really add much (new mechanics and some more bosses) - and they removed the older stages aside from Spawning Grounds which was the worse one - also what’s up with the lack of rewards?? Surely more than a single hat to earn clothing wise
@@Jme_hde I don't know what you mean by lack of rewards. It's the best way to earn money and ability chunks. As for the gear, they change the gear you can get every month, just like in Splatoon 2
@@Jme_hde idk, spawning grounds isnt that bad compared to other s2 sr maps.. like the lost outpost and the smokeyard.. spawning grounds actually has a lot of room for moving around and interactivity from far away than those two. I would’ve hoped they’d have the ruins of ark polaris bc I think that’s the best one from s2 but spawning grounds isn’t bad at all.
Splatzones is more like turf war, at least in the sense you have to cover an area with ink and control it over time to gain points, clam blitz is fun it's sort of like football or soccer, but they're great fun altogether
thing is, turf war would suck as a ranked mode. It’s good as the “beginner mode” but it’s bad as literally anything else. It would need a complete overhaul, in turf war only the last 30 seconds matter so it’d need a knockout function
As someone who’s busy with school work right now, I haven’t been able to finish the story mode and I’m glad that he was able to review it without giving any spoilers! 😊
Ive only played splatoon 3 on the weekends, and got the game two weeks ago. I have played the game on about 3 days, and already have 10+ hours on it (and I had to study and work on those days)
Interesting point to note but another big reason that Turf War isn’t in ranked is because it has a very narrow range of meta weapons (Aerospray lol) and things like blasters, chargers, and longer range shooters don’t really have the chance to shine like they do in other modes
also in the solo player mode - there is an actual story there won’t just challenges, the more of the world you unlock the more files you find that tell a story about human life and squid life etc
They actually fixed the issue of not being able to leave the matchmaking lobby!!! Literally was so annoying. Now there’s a option too right of the screen where the timer is
Splat zones is the ranked version of turf war. It's a more focused area so players will engage more if they want to win. Funny and entertaining review.
Other than the random disconnects which at least for me isn’t super frequent, the game is amazingly polished. It does need a few performance tweaks here and there but MAN is my all time favorite game already. Even won the first splatfest which is awesome!
The reason why there isn't turf mode in ranked is that the tides of a battle changes way too way easily. One team wipe at the last 30 seconds and you instantly lose. I think that most competitive players would agree with me.
That’s true but to a more casual player on the surface it seems weird because you’d think the random game modes would be the casual playlist and have the main game mode that revolves around the games unique mechanic to be the ranked mode
@@Promethazin3 Yeah its completely understandable to think this, its just if you dig deeper you would start to understand why turf wars are bad in comp
Splatoon has never been one of those games that has drawn me in but I have to say, you kinda almost talked me into it. I missed the last half hour of your stream today (last night for you) but I hope you hit the A level!
Me who has carpal tunnel due to genetics: yeah once u got carpal tunnel the grip will help nothing if your hand is having a bad day. There are times when driving isn’t fun because my hand goes numb and gets tingly. Im glad I randomly decided to learn to use my left hand in middle school when I saw a kid struggling because his dominant hand had a cast on it. But yeah if ur hand(s) are having a good day then the grip is amazing and you really should get one.
Splat Zones is similar to Turf Way in many aspects, but you're painting and trying to control a small section of the stage rather than the whole thing. And Turf War has always been separate from Ranked. The devs established this day 1 in Splatoon 1. It is highly unlikely to ever change even if Nintendo makes another 20 Splatoons.
Somewhat true, but a true ranked mode Turf War would see different strategy than Zones, due to needing to cover/defend so much more land. I personally would love to see it in ranked, as I find it really fun to see two skilled teams go at it in Turf War. It's my favorite mode in terms of the concept, with my only gripe being how hard it is to find good teams to play with/against. Ranked mode would fix this. And for those players who don't want to play it, well... they don't have to. I do think if Nintendo offered it as an option, people would find the strategy alluring and it would become popular in the end despite what people say now, but hey, maybe I'm wrong.
It’s not as common as people are making it seem. Been playing almost daily since launch and haven’t had any disconnects. Think it has a lot to do with your own wi fi connection
Turf war isn't in rank?? I mean not directly, but it's kinda the most important thing in rank. If you don't have mapcontrol (so a lot of turf), you have no space and can't get easy to objective. It might doesn''t see a lot use in low rank, but in higher rank mapcontrol is really important.
What I’ve found about these “communication errors” is that it’s actually players leaving the que or lobby. Happens in salmon run as well. A couple people will stay. One leaves cause they realised too late that they wanna stop. And the game kicked me out of the que. The other is in the turf war/ranked. It’s not very obvious but yet again. For the reason above. Since someone left the que it kicks everyone else out because it “can’t find more players” so it stops the entire lobby from playing cause one person wanted to change their gear after queuing. Hopes this helps shine a light on communication error. As for being kicked out mid match. It’s all because someone turned off their console at the start of the game. I highly doubt it’s the servers doing but the player. To know this. Look at the top of the screen for a short time at the beginning of the match, if a squid is greyed out. It means the entire match is going to be cancelled because the game is seeking for a fair 4V4 match.
I agree with a lot of things he says but I disagree with is comments on turf war and ranked in general when he says that the ranked modes are regenizable when only playing two modes is a huge over-site clam blitz and splat zones are very unique
It’s just because turf war is extremely unbalanced, the whole tide of the match can be decided in the last 15 seconds if one team gets a good push, all the other ranked modes of one team sweeps ends instantly or it’s a constant back and forth of trying to outplay the enemy’s teams to get a good push going
I mostly appreciate the interactive lobby, but what I despise is the connection errors and how unstable connection, even when you have good internet, forces you to freeze in place, which makes you a super easy target for opponents to splat. I hate the time limit and target thing Ngl, and I hate that I hate them.
Still hate how Anarchy modes aren’t graded separately anymore - one of the best parts of 2 as I’m awful at Clam Blitz and great at Rainmaker… the UI additions are really beneficial alongside checkpoints in rainmaker, but Anarchy open is a redundant pick when it gets you a measly 8p a win…
Another big improvement are the weapons’ kits, they’re not perfect, BUT GOD are they wayyyy better than splatoon 2, most of them make sense with the weapon play style now! And just the game feeling really balanced from the launch! And the shooting range in the lobby. And skipping the news. And the main slots can be changed. And all those little things combined again and again and again, just fixing biggest splatoon 2’s issues. I’m glad the developers learned from their mistakes!
I still feel like they should allow you to swap weapons mid game, I've had several games where we were locked into our base because we didn't have the right weapons to hold off the enemy team... And that's no fun
@@Jme_hde eh I disagree. Sub weapons are nice (though some of the new ones seem kinda lame) the weapons I feel need to be swappable cause it's hard to keep up with like a splat charger or splatana if a lot of the opponents team have rollers or other weapons that are good with inking turf more than you. If that makes sense
As someone who is just getting a switch and thinks this game looks good, is it better to get 2 or 3? I've heard or seen on some things that 2 is better in some ways but I feel like jumping into number 3 won't make much difference for me as someone who's never played
I was just watching videos on whether or not I should buy splatoon. I’d be a first timer since I didn’t play the previous installments. It looks super fun, I’m glad I caught this video of yours
Game is definitely a lot of fun, as someone who’s played 1 and 2. 3 is definitely amazing. In my opinion each weapon is viable and has its own role. Just takes working out your way of playing the game. For me it’s sitting on high ground and shooting other players with a minigun, for you it could be a mid range weapon where you’re closer to the action but still able to maintain ground away from others. Or go straight in with a splatroller to kill players up close in 1 hit (sometimes more if they used a powerful ability)
Satisfye needs a european distributer, I managed to get one 2nd hand for my old switch and I loved it, but Im not paying £32 shipping for a new one when I get an OLED, It's literally double the price

Splatting even one person in Turf Wars is actually super important, it makes the entire team lose 1/4 of its power for usually around 10 seconds, which can be doubled by killing just one more person, and it allows for a chance to resplat them when the super jump, and that's huge when each person is so valuable to the team.
Really good video though always enjoyed the content you put out 😊
Ignore that reply, it’s a bot.
Dude I suck at table turf
Tableturf battles have a lot of strategy behind them, especially on high levels
Don't go it's scam
Someone else let me know if they've figured out.
sorry that your comment was botted
idk about this but it seems like it could be legit
Salmon run is my favorite mode, I think there is a ton of fun to be found in just that one game mode
@@pokaay3163 yeah Ark Polaris was my favourite too, and it would’ve made sense with the story mode… maybe it’ll return as an update stage
Splatzones is more like turf war, at least in the sense you have to cover an area with ink and control it over time to gain points, clam blitz is fun it's sort of like football or soccer, but they're great fun altogether
Ah, good to see someone said it.
Rainmaker is more like football than the mode with an actual football
thing is, turf war would suck as a ranked mode.
How come there's no Rank for Turf War?!
Splatfest: "Hold my Beer"
A communication error has occurred.
Interesting point to note but another big reason that Turf War isn’t in ranked is because it has a very narrow range of meta weapons (Aerospray lol) and things like blasters, chargers, and longer range shooters don’t really have the chance to shine like they do in other modes
also in the solo player mode - there is an actual story there won’t just challenges, the more of the world you unlock the more files you find that tell a story about human life and squid life etc
splat zones is kind of like ranked turf war, except you have to ink specific areas and control them for longer than the enemy team
As someone with a Bachelors in Fine Arts I was so confused what you were going for with that painting
7:58 Actually you can get it even if the enemies shot it you just gotta be careful when it explodes.
I have a FEVER! The only prescription?
More Salmon Run maps.
*vigorously bangs cowbell with Deep Cut theme*
They actually fixed the issue of not being able to leave the matchmaking lobby!!! Literally was so annoying. Now there’s a option too right of the screen where the timer is
Love your content keep up the hard work because its really paying off 👍
Well Splat Zones is pretty much the ranked version of Turf War, which you oddly left out.
Splat zones is the ranked version of turf war. It's a more focused area so players will engage more if they want to win. Funny and entertaining review.
You do see your friends lockers, they are on the wall to the right from the entrance
I wish we could level up doing Salmon Run. I lose turf war a lot but Salmon Run I’m decent at 😅
The biggest issue on splatoon 3 is that like every 2 matches u disconnect and rage
Other than the random disconnects which at least for me isn’t super frequent, the game is amazingly polished. It does need a few performance tweaks here and there but MAN is my all time favorite game already. Even won the first splatfest which is awesome!
I was waiting for a match while watching this and I kid you not, the moment Wood talks about communication errors, I got one.
1:40 I am one of those people. Ordered your beatemups grip and no case, ordering a case now :)
Splatoon has never been one of those games that has drawn me in but I have to say, you kinda almost talked me into it. I missed the last half hour of your stream today (last night for you) but I hope you hit the A level!
I have not experienced one “The Connection is Unstable” and I’m at Level 12
I've been pretty obsessed with Splatoon3
Same
8:11 that fizzy charge is painful to watch
Turf war is in ranked, it’s called Splatzones.
when the ground caved in and the little entry point happened, i got vietnam flash backs to splatoon 2: octo expansion
*a connection error has occurred*
for the 5th time today
I swear I just found out about the lockers yesterday! I could not find them! 😂😂😂
This Game is AWESOME I'll just -
⚠️ sorry a communication
error has occurred ⚠️
I could not imagine trying to play Splatoon in handheld mode
Fair review of the game. It deserves praise and criticism. One thing you didn't mention was the card game. Have you spent any time with that mode?
Me who has carpal tunnel due to genetics: yeah once u got carpal tunnel the grip will help nothing if your hand is having a bad day. There are times when driving isn’t fun because my hand goes numb and gets tingly. Im glad I randomly decided to learn to use my left hand in middle school when I saw a kid struggling because his dominant hand had a cast on it. But yeah if ur hand(s) are having a good day then the grip is amazing and you really should get one.
A few days I was fighting with my cat, while watching this video. Somehow my cat subbed to your channel while i went to the toilet lol
Turf war is kind of in ranked mode. Splat Zones is basically turf war, but only for a small area.
The rank version is more like King of Hill.
Splatoon in one sentence: We got awards for being original with Splatoon 1, so we made the exact game twice over.
I haven't jumped into this game as much as I wanted to as yet because of the connection errors. I was really enjoying it otherwise though.
It’s not as common as people are making it seem. Been playing almost daily since launch and haven’t had any disconnects. Think it has a lot to do with your own wi fi connection
“ this time boys we’re going to war“ LMAO 😂
Turf war isn't in rank?? I mean not directly, but it's kinda the most important thing in rank. If you don't have mapcontrol (so a lot of turf), you have no space and can't get easy to objective. It might doesn''t see a lot use in low rank, but in higher rank mapcontrol is really important.
I've had a Satisfye grip with the thicc case for years. I didn't realise it was a limited thing.
Honestly what I find annoying is that MOST of my teammates don’t even know we have to work TOGETHER.
Yea, I couldn't find the locker room either, I searched for days, and I swear I even checked those doors, but I had no prompt to open them up.
The game literally tells you where the lockers are though like…
Not to mention it feels faster and the ink seems to go further and cover more space than Splat 2
Got my copy of splatoon 3 last Sunday been playing it all week non stop haven't touched any of my other games it's pretty addicting. 🔥👌💯
Yea right I don't think I won anything.
Wood you totally can look at the clothing ON your character before buying it, you just tap the right stick to try them on!
Me and my brother are obsessed with Splatoon it's a great game to stress and calm down😂😂
I agree with a lot of things he says but I disagree with is comments on turf war and ranked in general when he says that the ranked modes are regenizable when only playing two modes is a huge over-site clam blitz and splat zones are very unique
7:04 THAT! IM NOT THE ONLY ONE!
Don’t say that in splatoon forums btw, you’ll be trash talked… I still don’t get why but you will.
This sounds like a Bob Ross commentary, where Wood talks and makes a painting (imo)
1 in 3 matches gets dc and 1 in 10 matches dc yourself, no matter busy hours or not , the dc is so random, this is just netcode issue , not fixable
I actually receive my splatoon 3 edition OLED tomorrow and it just occurred to me it’s going to look awesome with my BeatEmUps grip!!
I still feel like they should allow you to swap weapons mid game, I've had several games where we were locked into our base because we didn't have the right weapons to hold off the enemy team... And that's no fun
Instead of this having multiple sub weapons like in single player would be better
Personally i disagree
you can see your friends lockers, not all of them may i add but they're on the far right wall of the locker room
As someone who is just getting a switch and thinks this game looks good, is it better to get 2 or 3? I've heard or seen on some things that 2 is better in some ways but I feel like jumping into number 3 won't make much difference for me as someone who's never played
2 isn’t getting anymore updates so 3 is probably the better option considering the best things about 2 happened when it was getting updates
Dude get Splatoon 3. The majority of the playerbase has moved there
For some reason I got an actual ad for satisyfe, but it was done by you. So I got two satisyfe ads by you
man tableturf is so cool and you didn't even mention it, it's like Go and Picross had card babies
I was just watching videos on whether or not I should buy splatoon. I’d be a first timer since I didn’t play the previous installments. It looks super fun, I’m glad I caught this video of yours
Get it. The splatfest are the main reason to buy the game now. Nintendo is supporting this game for the next two years so…
Game is definitely a lot of fun, as someone who’s played 1 and 2. 3 is definitely amazing.
I want a BEATEMUPS Satisfye grip! When will you make the next collaboration? Eagerly awaiting the possibility.
Satisfye needs a european distributer, I managed to get one 2nd hand for my old switch and I loved it, but Im not paying £32 shipping for a new one when I get an OLED, It's literally double the price
Beatemups content is always entertaining!
I had to google where the lockers are because I absolutely had no idea where they were and I was like lvl 25 with all these rewards
Ranked turf would be painful
Ummmm you said you were going to go over all the new things, but you forgot about the Turf battle card game and this takes me away from my experience. This is all joke great video Wood can’t wait to see more amazing content and more from you.
This video helped me find lockers. I legit had no idea where they would.
Having a lot of fun with Splatoon 3! Thanks for making videos @BeatEmUps
We've seen Tower Control before, indeed. In Splatoon 1, which was released the year before Overwatch.
turf war is not ranked because only the last 30 seconds matter, in a wipeout a decent team can cover everything in seconds.
10:25 glad to know it wasn't just me. I surched for it everywhere, and it was of course, in the last place💀. I do know the city pretty well now though
Pro tip with connection issues. Look for potential fixes via stuff like reddit. DO NOT FOLLOW NINTENDO'S ADVICE FOR FIXING IT, as their advice is to essentially make your entire home network vulnerable to third party attacks.
Don't go it's most likely some kind of scam
I like the painting while reviewing format😂 9/10 not enough Bob Ross references.
@beatemups you can get out of a search if you press the home button and wait a minute.
The Areospray MG is Godteir for Inking all over the map!
