This is the only live video of Makoto? Depressing.. One of my favorite funk musicians.... wish I could find First Light on vinyl. Would fly to Japan just to see Makoto live!
Love was really gone.. And this music is gone too. Why.. I don't get it. I can't stand it. In America, I can't turn on the radio. I can't visit the grocery store. I can't go to a bar. I can't live without drama and hatred.
@@thenoobletlego There used to be videos of some AB's concerts from 1981/1982 on UA-cam, with Makoto in them. Sounded great. Still have them on my hard disk, somewhere.
I was converted of Tatsuro Yamashita's stardom to Makoto Matsushita's simplicity. You don't need to have outstanding vocals to be a great singer. I believe Matsushita is nearer the "wabi-sabi" concept. He is simple; that's why I started to love his oeuvres.
Listened to this song one day in 2014 while digging for random music on youtube. I still remember the feeling of listening to it for the first time .. if only I could go back to the moment 🥹 I've listened to so much "city pop" since then but this song and the whole First Light album will be my absolute favorites. 松下さんありがとう 🙏
I found it on a random Spotify suggested playlist and just absolutely fell in love with the whole First Light album. It’s so crazy to me that I found an album that came out before my dad was even born and it became one of my favorites.
Why am I so late to the party ? I only discovered this song this week. Sheer smoothness. Hearing him live really highlights what amazing musicality he has (vocally, especially). Amazing !
The most recent thing I could find about him is that he's in a group called AB's. If you search 'AB's LIVE Into the Light' you can find a video from 2007, Makoto is the guitarist with the long hair. Hope that helps!
Noctis Altura the contemporary jazz guitarists worldwide kinda died down past the 2000s. Norman brown, Benson, etc. They still perform and make music as far as I know, they just ain't in the limelight

We tried to make our love a place we belong
To stay together all the way
Your love would seem to be the cause of my tone

I know how much you tried
All the same

You always wanted to take more of me than I own
But what I’ve got I gave to you
I don’t know what to make of where we went wrong
We played with time
How long could such a foolish game go on?

My heart is ready to be parted
