Friends is an American television sitcom created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, which aired on NBC from September 22, 1994, to May 6, 2004, lasting ten seasons. With an ensemble cast starring Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, the show revolves around six friends in their 20s and 30s who live in Manhattan, New York City. Lisa Kudrow took what could've been a quirky, annoying side character and made it one for the ages. I don't get tired of Phoebe. Actually, I never get tired of any of them.
How is she a side character? They're all the main characters.
@@ASMRyouVEGANyet My point is that she made sure Phoebe didn't become a side character. In an interview, she said she was concerned her character would be written out in Season 1 and she thought one of the producers wasn't pleased with her. All I know is I have had some of the hardest laughs of my life because of her / Phoebe.
I like Phoebe more now than I did when the show was new. I like Joey more than I did originally also.

2:58 This makes you realize that, in spite of having easily the most hellish life out of all of them, Phoebe still never had a worse Thanksgiving than Chandler's... It's kind of heartwarming that, despite living on the streets, somehow all of her Thanksgivings were presumably alright. Still sucks for Chandler, but oh well. XD
I’m not sure how you missed this but Phoebe put on rose-colored glasses and would just be optimistic about everything but you can guarantee her thanksgivings were worse than chandlers. She just doesn’t dwell on shit like Chandler does.
@@tracim3080 I'm not sure how you missed this but Phoebe would recount several horrifying moments in her life: her mother's suicide, her stepfather's arrest, how she spent her Sweet Sixteen being chased around by an escaped mental patient who wanted to "kill me or whatever", how a pimp spit in her mouth which gave her hepatitis, how she once stabbed a cop (but he stabbed her first), how she spent time in prison, how she used to work as a phone-sex operator, etc... in short, Phoebe was always perfectly honest and open about all the hardships she endured, so therefore, and by her own admission, she never experienced a Thanksgiving that was worse than Chandler's.
@@Kelaiah01 Yeah, and did you notice she usually were counted those horrifying stories like they were happy fucking times like getting pushed around the yard on a box instead of actually having a bike rose-colored glasses look at the box of shit that she saved from the street that was really depressing shit to her treasures because that was the best she got.
@@tracim3080 True, while several of the incidents Phoebe recalled were told with rose-colored glasses, there were plenty of other tales she told where she was perfectly aware of how terrifying what she experienced actually was. Again, that one escaped patient who wanted to "kill her, or whatever," or the story of stabbing the cop.
My point still stands: Phoebe never had a worse Thanksgiving than Chandler's. She may have had a worse life overall, but by whatever kind of coincidence, every Thanksgiving was better than his. After all, there are soup kitchens that serve Thanksgiving-themed meals.
Besides, the writers of the show wanted Chandler to have the worse Thanksgiving stories anyway. Phoebe got everything else.

Even when she was telling the story, she was trying to make them sound like not big deals. She downplayed everything absolutely everything she doesn’t crack until the episode where she’s deciding if she’s gonna have a big wedding or not and then that’s when she finally says, I want that because she’s never had normal. That’s the first time she actually admits that yeah she was fucked up and she wants it to be different.

Okay I love how Phoebe was recalling a Thanksgiving from a different life as being worse than Chandler, but different she spend a few Thanksgivings living on the street.
EVERY 20 - 30 YEAR old can relate to this show. When you move out of your parents and not knowing what to do with life and when youre friends are family. Each one of them represent that kind of friend we have. The funny one, the kooky one, the awkward one, the hot one, the stable one, the mother 😂😂

@@lifeisbitvlover171 i think 'awkward' should be exchanged with 'spoiled' though she could also be labelled as 'hot' and joey could be labelled as 'slow'. i don't know what the OP was getting at but in the 6 friends of the show i do not see awkward as a specific trait. both chandler and ross could be super awkward in different situations but i also think that chandler's dominant trait would be the funny one.

I used to be a big FRIENDS fan.. but rewatching it for the 15th time, and watching other newer series like B99, TBBT made me understand that there were so many things toxic and highly stereotyped in Friends, but still I love friends.. but it's not better than everything

About chandler. I have friends on blu ray and I have the 15th anniversary box set on dvd with all episodes uncut. I definitely notice the parts that were cut after watching them on dvd over and over about 20 times over.
In 2024 friends would have aired its last episode 20 years. So to celebrate the 20th year release the uncut episodes on blu ray PLEASE.

The ones where Joey & Rachel we’re dating and Phoebe was pregnant and they wrote in she was a surrogate for her brother were the only ones I didn’t like.
Lisa was pregnant in real life so they had to include pregnancy anyway. I don’t think it would have fit for Pheobe to have a child herself or give one up, so surrogacy was a great plan. Family members are often surrogates a year. Although in real life I believe you need to have already given birth.
