January is a great time to visit. The nights can be chilly - 45 degrees is the average low. But as long as you have decent camping gear - if you are camping - you'll be fine. Day time average temps are 70 degrees.
What camp site would you recommend, if i want to hit Fonts Point, the slot hiking trail, but also want to hit sandstone canyon, and maybe mud caves. I perfer established campgrounds of possible in the middle of all these sites
Tamarisk Grove Campground or Borrego Palm Canyon Campground are good options. Tamarisk Grove is the most central, but you have to drive over Yaqui Pass, which is slower driving. Borrego Palm Canyon puts you closer to restaurants and stores, if that's a preference.
The best camping site in AB is closed off now, behind the landfill on a ledge just west of Fonts. I used to camp there all the time until they closed it off 😖
Heading there soon! I can’t wait!
