Welcome back we have missed the past two weeks being at the Daytona 500. Enjoyed the video, Mark has not lost he sense of humor, and one liner jokes. Be safe, my friends
Glad to see you are keeping the Dutch Star busy!
60 years we would go camping there and the night sky was awesome
The community does a good job embracing the notion to keep it a dark sky township.
Great video. Looks like a gem for sure! Love Marks humor!
Thanks for checking things out guys! Mark's brain works a little different than other folks,.....
It occurs to me, that I can't seem to watch any of your videos without a constant smile. Boy do my cheeks get sore! But it's a good feeling too. Have your travels taken you to Star Wars canyon to see the military jets flying?
Yes, we saw this Canyon in Death Valley. The action started and happened so quickly I can't really remember what we caught on film in our EP130. I do remember how much smaller the jets looked flying through than I had been anticipating! That Canyon is a lot wider than it looks.
Hi we live near Janesville and happened upon you channel while researching the southwest. We aren't full timers , be were gone 6 months last year traveling from Key West to the Arctic Ocean. This year we cut our travels a bit to do some home maintenance . This winter we are doing the southwest and returning to Alaska for a third time to experience autumn up north. Thank you for the video, Anza Borrego is one of the places we plan to explore.
We love that area and are shooting to be there in winter 2025.
Cool trip....love the outdoor art and cute town!
The entire surrounding area really had a unique feel!
Looked like those windmills were producing lots of power. Sarcasm. Looks like a nice area
All windmills have a threshold wind speed that they need so the generators run at an acceptable synchronous speed to create the power. Only about half of the time we were there a few years ago (for a month) were the turbines actually operating.
Glad you weren’t at Valencia RV Park … several RVs went into the river. This is so unusual… glad you are safe.
We actually got a message from Cindy, the gal that we RV’d with that was also at Valencia. (She drove a Dutch Star that got stuck in a CG in Florida one time.) Really sad to hear about that happening in the park. Glad no one was hurt. Quite a bit of that park is close to the river bank. The future of this park could be in jeopardy. We have really fond memories of our time in VTV, except of course it was during the height of Covid!
We are in Van Horn Texas, on our way to Dallas for 20 days so Sue can fly home to see her daughter & mom!
I have not been to Borrego Springs but would love to go to Gelato Meadows Estates where I am sure the Italian ice cream selection is superb. Loved the video but missed the Pro Tip about finding the public restrooms in Julian.
The pro tip is this: When traveling with Paul,.......when he is gone suddenly from the group,.........quickly start to swivel ones head and pay attention to his return route,.........and then travel it in reverse.
@@OurJourneyInMyles Apparently Paul beats you absolutely everywhere first!
Was just in La Quinta with a visit to Motorcoach Country Club of Indio. Living in the NW, I was surprised by the beauty of the desert, what a great part of the country.
We think the area is Amazing! We see why folks chose to live in CA.
back in my pre teen days, I had a paper route and in this country every where you rode your bike you would run over the goat heads and I spent many hours patching my bike tires. I had more patches then actual rubber tube. There was no such thing as solid bike tires, which would have been a blessing
We are in Van Horn TX right now, and we are still dealing with the Goat Head prickers!
@@OurJourneyInMyles I had to look on the map where Van Horn is and I see it's a dry spot on the map. you know goat horns or puncher weeds hate water. they grow in the driest terrain
Thank you both for sharing your journey,
Your welcome and thanks for watching guys!
Thanks Sue for another great video. Now, My RV wants to take me there.
This area and the RV Park we stayed at (The Springs at Borrego RV Resort) is about as relaxing as it gets. It WAS handy though to have some awesome friends and subscribers to share all the fun with to make it that much more memorable.
Loved the video, stay safe on the road!!😎😎
Thanks, you too Donna.
Thanks for sharing your journey; very enjoyable to watch.
Thanks for watching Robert!
Well dang it we watched this video. We are in Yuma and took a ride to Julian for PIE! 3 hours there and 3 hours back😳 I didn’t check the weather before heading there so I showed up in Julian in shorts and sandals but little did I know the day before all the roads were closed up there due to snow. And, yep there was lots of snow on the ground. BUT I GOT MY PIE - thank you Mark. We got the original Apple which is amazing and was well worth the trip.
You are absolutely the most dedicated "Pie Guy" I have ever known! I am always amazed how much the elevation one is traveling through can drastically change the temps! Thanks for watching. We have a few cruise videos coming up, so get ready to go on one of those!
Super nice thanks so much for all your time !
You are welcome Jeff!
very cool area have seen vids of the arfea you guys did a great job safe travels
Thanks Allan,.........Sue did a great job weaving the tale together!
@@OurJourneyInMyles YES she did all my best
Great preview of the area we'll be in in April! Those darn goatheads! Our bicycles took several hits while riding in Carlsbad, NM. Get the vanilla ice cream and share the pie! Thanks for taking us along!
Safe, happy, & healthy travels.
Brendan & Lena
If my new Puncture Resistant Schwaube Tires don't do the trip,.....I will resort to Green Slim!
@@OurJourneyInMyles The green slime product is a real mess later on when it fails. Been there, done that. Good Luck.😊
We use green slime to coat our tire tubes which helps with the dreaded goats heads!
What kind of a mess is it to work with when you have to open the tire up for a change or fixing a really bad flat?
@@OurJourneyInMyles being the slime is in the tube, we haven’t encountered any issues. But, I guess, if the tube blows it could get messy. We’ve had great success with no flats since we ‘slimed’ - we first encountered goats head in Palm Desert and they were bad in Albuquerque too! We carry extra with us now :)
We did a lot of 4x4 exploring and ground camping here some 34 years ago when we lived just 2 hours west in San Diego County. Not much has changed, of course that is the beauty of the desert, where time moves slower. The night skies stand apart in our minds as the most spectacular feature. Thanks for sharing.
The peace, the pace, the beauty and the town of Borrego Springs is like few other places.
@@OurJourneyInMyles Absolutely, we coined the expression after our experiences there that, 'The silence was deafening'.
Great video Sue. Thanks for your time and talent. 👍👏
My pleasure 😊 guys! This one was tough to weave together!
I always hit the 👍 before the video starts. I know its going to be good. I dont have to check the OBD... Thanks OJM
We both really appreciate that J!
Borrego Springs is one of my favorite motorcycle riding destinations in the local area. Lots of curvy and twisty roads leading to and from the area. A few years back we did a lot of Jeeping out the Anza-Borrego Desert and there are some really interesting things to see out there. Lots of history too. Thanks for this great video - we'll have to remember the Pro-Tip on the Library resource!
Sounds great! This place really was kind of a "one of a kind" destination. We see why folks return year after year, ESPECIALLY if you live in San Diego.
Thank you for another great video folks. I’m particularly fond of this one because I did a video last year that featured another exhibit from Carlos Breceda sponsored by the Museum of Ancient Wonders. Jurassic Wonders ua-cam.com/video/RaDkMFKvCPU/v-deo.html located in the heart of Cathedral City, CA. It was supposed to only by here during 2022, but it’s still there as of a week ago and I thought you might appreciate it. Safe travels.👍🏼😎
Thanks for the awesome link Rick for folks to check out as well when in the area!
@@OurJourneyInMyles Thank you 🙏🏼
Nice video. Karena and I are thinking of spending a month there next winter
It is a really special area! We are in Van Horn TX right now with 50mph gusts!
I forgot to add I loved the video and that observatory was great! Loved that little town and their pies looked good! That sounds nice to listen to bowls making musical notes. Looks like you had fun. Nice you met sone friends while there. Sorry about your tooth Sue! Were they able to the tooth? Which tooth was it that broke? I chipped and cracked teeth before. And they got crowns in them. One got so badly abscessed I no longer have it. I have what they call a partial. It takes a while getting used to it. I’ll see you both soon! I’ll watch another video tomorrow. Getting caught up!
Borrego Springs is a great place.
Great video Sue! We are in the area now. We went over the mountain around Julian and it was snowing and icy. Truck broke down in the salton sea area. Waiting for dealership to fix it. 9 months old and starter failed, having to replace it. Waiting on parts.
Oh wow! You never know when your turn in the barrel is!
I remember when that dragon was different colored metals
I would imagine the rusting process & color change was all planned into the original project!
My hometown, i go when ever i have a chance. also "cookie" meadows is in spanish; pronounced like--- Gah---yeh---tah. :D
We are really bad at pronouncing 95% of the places we visit!
Have you ever considered a tubeless setup for your bikes? I have been mountain biking for over 30 years. Stans Notubes is a great sealant but there are a number of good Tire sealants on the market now do not use slime it does not work very well. I ride over big old BlackBerry vines all the time and have not had a flat in years. Carry a backup inner tube for every bike just in case you ding your rim and it will not hold air.
I will stay away from the Green Slime and see how things go with the new Schwalbe Tires.
Those statues you showed of lobsters and bugs and all those were cool! Also I saw snow there or just a little bit I think. What was the warmest it was while you were there?
I would say the warmest was in the 80's!
@@OurJourneyInMyles
Wow! That is good for being a few months ago not even spring yet! Nice weather then to go swimming there in.
🌵🪷🌸💐🏵 There's going 2B a super bloom all over San Diego County, especially in Anza Borrego St.Park this spring ( All the rain we've had). Even the desert is green here now, but it's COLD!
Pro tip for visiting Santa Ysabel & Julian: visit these towns M-Th. The weekends are nuts with crowds of tourists & San Diegans trying to flea the insanity of the city.
Sounds great! We HAVE found sometimes though that things are NOT open during the shoulder seasons, and you need to plan to go on the weekend just to make sure the event your interested in IS open! Thanks for stopping by.
Mark, was the jeep pre 1968? If so, there shouldn't be an OBD
That explains a lot!
I have a question. haven't heard you say any thing about your water softener lately, do you use it every time you relocate
Yes we do Pius,........it's a PIA because it is HEAVY and I usually drain it when we move, and have SUE LIFT it for me into the Honda. It is a necessary evil to TRY to prevent some of the hard water damage over time. Please don't tell other folks I have Sue do all the heavy lifting for me.
@@OurJourneyInMyles we already know Sue is the man
What a nice steak house! Nice Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe ate there. Did you sit anywhere near where they were? On know Sue had two flat tires. What were the odds of that happening? Was there a store near there where you could get bike tires? Or did order them from Amazon? Just curious where you go in that town for that? I think it’s a cute place to go! Not bad at all.
I needed special tires, so I took a chance and ordered them from Amazon. They came in 3 days and we were back in business! The town of Borrego Springs was really cute and had almost everything you need, except the special tires I wanted.
@@OurJourneyInMyles
I think it’s cute. That’s a shame you couldn’t get good bike tires there. They should something there for bike tires.
I have a daughter that lives in Vail
It is all a really nice part of the country!
What about the dates?
I am absolutely bumbed we didn't stop for a date shake in the area! We were so close to the shop that make the best ones we ever had at Windmill Market 17080 North Indian Canyon Dr North Palm Springs, CA 92258
You can’t put video of a state park on UA-cam?
As we continue to learn and understand the rules which are complex, we are excluding more and more places to not visit because we can't film them to share & remember.
