- Final part of the series on how to fix a craftsman tiller. The 6.5hp Briggs and Stratton runs great. In this series you’ll see that I replaced the drive chain, the case gasket and new grease. The broken drive chain is a common issue with this as they will fill with water and rust out, causing the tiller to loose forward and reverse drive.

Woo hoo, back together with no parts left over. Way to go. Can't wait to see working. Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒
Yes sir! I’m pleased with the results. I’ve beat on it all weak and it works great
Got the same problem with mine. I don’t know if I want to try to fix it or not. I was hoping to find a detailed solution to fix it.
Hey have you made the decision to rebuild or sell it. I just checked out one for repair. It needs an engine and I have a replacement sitting on my shelf. He says everything else worked but you know how that goes.
Drill and different wire wheels help and polish all the shafts good
Silicone case together and you can drill hole to add hd gear oils like Lukas hub oil and 90W
Odd question. If in good working order? do you think the F/R transmission in a tiller could be retro fitted into a go kart for a forward reverse gearbox?
It looks old. Was it hard to get Parts now that Sears is defunct?
Not too bad once you find the part numbers. I ordered my parts off Amazon.
Hey bud where did you get that gasket kit from? I have the same tiller I just bought for hardly nothing but shifter is froze up. So I need to do what you did to yours.
Seems to be common with these model tillers. You’d have to tear it apart to find out what’s going on in there
having same problem do you have part number on the chain you replaced? I had a hard time getting wheels off
Sorry, I don’t have numbers right now. They where easily found online, probably off ereplacementparts.com or something.
It’s 25 links for both chains. Those cork gaskets ain’t worth a shit, better off to put RTV on it.
Wrong side case to put it together. Left side up when disassembly.
Probably, I struggled a bit putting it back together
Grease. Lots of grease. Then grease it again... Just like all the rest of the junk we play with...
Bought to start greasing more junk soon. You still greasing junk yourself?
I had to beat the crap out of the shifter to get the rod out of the bushing. Of course all the gears and shaft had to be removed. This video skips putting them in the proper order for reassembly.
Sorry about that

If you are going to make a video of repairing this transmission don't skip and jump important parts of the repair. It's no wonder you only have 4 comments. If you did a step by step repair it might actually help someone in a jam with the same problem.
I do what I can, sorry
@@PootsGarage Do me a favor and go watch a few videos on Mustie1 chanel it will give you an idea or two. I'm trying to help you out not trying to slam you.
