Something that size here 2 8' Calverts are put in. I hope you cleaned all the welds up with a stiff wire cup wheel an coated them heavy with Cold galvanize compound an then a coat of silver bright. If not them welded areas will rot out in 2 years. That one thing with Galvanized sheet metal once you burn that factory coating off it rots faster then mild steel sheet metal.
When I developed my property back in 1996 after I logged it ready to ship stumps brush with a rental D8 first thing that was built 1280' long driveway 33' wide. a 2 pole high votage 1750v power line. A utility insulated 10x12 building to house 400amp service. Had a well drilled 117' A root cellar including the steel well caseing in the very back left hand corner of the root celler. 2' from each wall. I dug out with a rental cat 225 13' deep 12'x 16' w into a step hill side. I dug out a 30' ' trench from the very back right hand side wall of root cellar an put in a 8'x30 pipe like that an built a tempery wall at the far end to block the pipe off until the house basement was dug out. This pipe later would have a treated wood floor put in as a walk way from house basement into root cellar an 1" water line run under walk way. All my presser well tank filters water softner all went in back corner of root celler. Best thing I ever did .. drain tile was put all over under root cellar footing an floor an ran out the hill until it day lighted. Drain was put in for a wash tub an for water softner back flush. This was done first thing before anything else. I lived in the utility building 1st winter. Rv in summer. In the root cellar I made up a 1" stainless steel water manafold and connected the presser tank line before water filters an softner to manafold that had 6 1" ball valves that would later supply water to 2 barns 2 cattle water tanks with heat trace up from 6' deep on water line. The shop would conect later witch it did to 1 of the ball valve as well one valve is used for spring summer fall running to all the diferent Cattle pastures for cattle water tanks. Due to the really lone runs there only down 2' so they would freeze in winter out frost line I'd 7'
I am sure they were wore out grader blades. I have found many different things used for roadway pipe. My favorite is blown out tire caps to plug holes where the pipe has broke or moved apart!

Are your Hitachi excavators essentially the same as John Deere? I know for a while Deere was rebranding Hitachi’s. P.S. I know it’s only temporary, but the Hyundai looks so weird without a thumb. 👍
Yes staring in the late 80's early 90's somewhere in there John Deere and Hitachi started working together the John Deeres had John Deere engines and cosmetics and that's about it the rest was Hitachi the Hitachi excavators all ran Isuzu engines except for a few like the 270 had a Hino engine but some 270's had Isuzu I'm not exactly sure why that was maybe a engine shortage at the time the larger like 550 and up Hitachi's had Cummins engines....part of me wishes I would have just got a set of grapples for the Hyundai I kinda like not having a thumb on it all the time

The old thumb got sold back in November it was basically just a loaner a farmer bought it and put it on a Hyundai 210....yes it's nice having a thumb but then again it's nice not haveing one I'm kinda wishing I would have just got a set of grapples and just had the stiff link bracket on the sick so it all come off easy and would not be there as extra weight when not needed

when i used to lay thoe big boys i used a heavy timber one each end pulled it together with chain comealongs left in till got backfilled had to much fun haveing rassel back out great jobe as usual need number 8 videos thats my fav

Thank you...We just keep working it in with the excavators buckets then walk back and forth with them.... never had a problem with one yet our sand tends to compact pretty easily

The new thumb for it is laying on a pallet at the shop I just have to get it put on....that pipe will last long enough that it won't be my problem let the next generation worry about it If there is anyone left that can still do this kinda work lol

Hey Brandon, love your videos. You do know that welding galvanized is toxic I hope? Especially inside a pipe like that, you can get really sick if the wind isn't blowing those zinc oxide fumes away from you....ask me how I know!
You trying to say compaction? Our soil type and this kinda project it's really not needed for this situation pack it in with the excavator buckets and walk over it as you fill haven't had a problem yet and have done tons of these also fabric is not required
WTF way to go for not using concrete so somebody has to do the exact same thing in 20 years because the bottom is rotted. Looks like from the erosion you need double barrel pipes or box culvert

@@dirtgrainsteel from first of March until October first. No hedge can be trimmed. Only thing allowed is dangerous tree removal at a road side and permission for that must be sought from local County Council first. The Board of works (government funded) recently cleaned two rivers that run through part of my farm of river weeds and they would not remove any tree/bushes growing on the edge of river bank. They are protected, eventually these rivers can't be cleaned as the diggers won't be able to access/reach the rivers.
As far as you know??? Always Always Always call before you dig! Just to make sure there is no gas lines especially. Sometimes there are some utilities buried and it can be very dangerous. There are a few videos on utube that show a gas line buried in a huge field in the middle of nowhere and it did not end well. My mother always said, prevention is better than finding a cure.
I should have phrased that differently yes this had been located by 811 prior to us working but you never know what you might find I've seen them miss before and I've also been told something has been retired and it hadn't been that was a gas line on a car wash demolition and the beautiful on that was that it was not my fault at all because all of the paperwork had been filed by the crew that was supposed to retire it but they never actually performed the work they got in trouble for that!
I was always told 1-2% that keeps the water flowing fast enough to keep the solid debris moving with the water. Any more the water moves too fast and the solids get left behind.

I would use bolts because welding makes everything rust fast.

I saw the road crossing marker for an underground petroleum or natural gas pipeline near your work area.
I have seen the corrugated metal culverts wrapped with ropes and rotate with winches to thread them together at the joints.

I would use the material that came out as backfill. Sand and stone will pack very well!

Is the pipe galvanized? Year’s ago I welded galvanized, it’s nasty and I later learned dangerous to your lungs.
Yes it is galvanized and you should always weld it in a well ventilated area this pipe had a good breeze blowing through it
Stop greasing it, after the pins wear out you’ll be able to bounce the rocks out of the bucket without a problem

The end of that pipe should be cut at a 45 angle
No compassion in lifts at all. No felt fabric on the banks before rip rap. Here mto guy of gal would be on you back right away.

Don't worry an awesome replacement culvert. Beavers can even plug this up, it just takes longer and a whole lot more water.
