It was so fun to play this again - had almost forgotten how amazing it is! Might do Metal Gear Solid V or Witcher 3 in a few weeks, haven't decided yet! I love diving back into older games that are still great, and can be had for cheap..
I just discovered this game in November, it was amazing from landscape design, battle system, and story. One of the best games I've played! When I first experienced one of the storms I thought how intense it was for a video game to include a storm that could kill you, and it eventually did kill me! couldnt believe I could die in a storm in a video game lol.
Happy to see more and more vids come out on this amazing game, hope that you consider making a video regarding how it fits into the wider lore of the Mad Max Saga
Its a bit outside my niche, but I’ll think about it! Do you have suggestions for other games like this? Older titles that are fantastic? I am leaning towards Witcher 3, MGS 5 or the Hitman trilogy
@Malthius I remember playing it back in the day :) I think I got into it too late tbh, and I am not sure I feel it holds up as well today. But groundbreaking and cool for sure!
When I was younger I really enjoyed the car combat, when I watched Furiosa it got me wanting to immerse myself in more of Mad Max's world (even if it isn't fully canonical). I bought Mad Max on pc and have had way more fun now then I did when I was younger. Especially the hand to hand combat, even as simple as it is, is so brutal and satisfying. Knocking people over rails with a running charge, chaining a combo into a shiv execution, and even putting the fear of Death in enemies eyes with a gut shot. It makes you feel like Max is truly crazy in this one. I think the creative use of the abilities your unlock and the amazing animations that play make the hand to hand combat my favorite part of the game. Also, their ai is amazing, I shot out a guys car tire and instead of following me in that car, he got out and went into a car close by that had no damage. Genuinely the most interesting thing I've ever seen in a game.
Gotta say, I didn't hear much about this game once it came out. But this video made me do a double take, might pick this game to see for myself. Great video, I can see the extra work that went into this one!
I'm glad more people are discovering this or going back to it. I played this day one over MGSV, which I also bought same day, but because Max hadn't been done before like this, I had to play this first.
I've been on a Mad Max fixation since seeing Furiosa in theaters; I liked it, it was fun. I rewatched Fury Road. I thought about it for a bit, thinking like "what kind of car or weapon would I use?". The algorithm lead me here. I feel like if there's ever another Mad Max video game, it should be made in the style of something like Conan Exiles. Open world, sort of sandbox, survival, online multiplayer optional but recommended, brutal, more realistic but still follows the rule of cool, a pre-established world full of lore but there's still a lot of unknown to work with, you're a blank-slate character who maybe gets freed by Max or something like that, you recruit or enslave npcs and tame animals for companions, etc., until you become the next big warlord in this corner of the wastes, to shape it how you see fit. It doesn't even have to be set in anywhere familiar to the movies or other media; I would stick it in Northern Australia, there's still desert and outback but there's potential for jungles and swamps and ruined cities. I feel like there's potential. I'm honestly surprised there aren't more Mad Max video games. I had to look it up, there are currently two including this one; but looking at wikipedia, Miller said if there was ever another game, he'd want Hideo Kojima involved, and Kojima loved the Mad Max movies since he was 16, I wouldn't dislike that.
Someome get this guy a job at Warner Brothers. They SUPER want a live service game to happen amd the Mad Max IP is getting pretty hot - this is a terrific idea!
Mad Max is one of my favorite games for when I want to just turn my brain off and play something fun and repetitive. I'm not always in the mood for an epic story or endless online RPG grinding.
I think thats one of its strengths really. Its pick up and play, super easy to get into for 10-20minutes. I love Metal Gear V that came out the same day, but sometimes I just want to kick some a$$. And the gameplay + the gameplay loop is super satisfying. Combat in car and on foot is impactful and fun and crunchy. It really IS underrated!
With the success of the recent movies, there is hope. However, Warner Brothers are waaaay too slimy with their games right now, I don’t see it happening 😬
Doing this video, I got sidetracked so many times, I could probably have done it at least 25% faster! 😂 I was thinking of doing a few different videos, then doing this format for either Metal Gear V or Witcher 3. Do you have a suggestion for another game you consider a modern classic perhaps?
It just aged INCREDIBLY well. At the time, it felt inferior to other games, but now - it really is fantastic, and so much fun! Cant think of any car combat I have liked more - not even Twisted Metal or V8
Dope, glad to hear the FPS are boosted! Yeah the game is dope as hell, I will keep beating this drum till someone makes a sensible choice, and gives us a Remaster or a Remake!
And that is a GOOD THING! But yeah, now you say it, he checks all the boxes… He is wearing black clothes, driving a crime ridden area with a cool car, in a black outfit, traumatized by his murdered family..
That, and also, Warner Brothers sent this game out to die… Releasing the same day as Metal Gear was a huge mistake, it didn’t give the game space to shine

Yeah, and that is a 10 year old game my friend!
Very ahead of its time, and definitely STILL holds up!

@@CliffhangerDK Im not sure if you've already made a video covering this game but have you played Sleeping Dogs?

Game has a ton of cool concepts and mechanics - we need a sequel damn it!
Gotta say, I didn't hear much about this game once it came out. But this video made me do a double take, might pick this game to see for myself. Great video, I can see the extra work that went into this one!
Thanks bro! Its still like 3€ on Green Man Gaming, even an Iphone factory worker can afford this one!
I'm glad more people are discovering this or going back to it. I played this day one over MGSV, which I also bought same day, but because Max hadn't been done before like this, I had to play this first.
Looking back, I think MGS is the superior game.
But Mad Max is fantastic and criminally underrated
I remember this game! Jeez I can’t believe it’s been almost 10 years. I feel so old 😭
Go play it, relive your “lost youth” 😂
Game still holds up tbh

I remember playing this when it it came out. I loved it so much I spent countless hours just driving around and killing stuff.
Hope you played far enough in the story to unlock the Thunderpoon and areas - the open world roaming wil improve vastly as you go along!
Would absolutely love a second game
With the success of the recent movies, there is hope.
However, Warner Brothers are waaaay too slimy with their games right now, I don’t see it happening 😬
Replayed this game just this year, always feel amazing to blow stuff up

Amazing game. Worth noting i olayed this game directly after playing ghost of tsushima and i was still WOWd
It just aged INCREDIBLY well.
At the time, it felt inferior to other games, but now - it really is fantastic, and so much fun!

@CliffhangerDK yeah the car combat was done well, I would purposely not add the spikes mod be cause I enjoyed seeing them climb onto my car
Best $5 i spent last month on Xbox Series X! Very good and extremely addictive game running at a smooth 120 fps.
Dope, glad to hear the FPS are boosted!
Yeah the game is dope as hell, I will keep beating this drum till someone makes a sensible choice, and gives us a Remaster or a Remake!
@CliffhangerDK A remaster/remake would be awesome! Or even a sequel with Bullet Town as the highlight on the map this time. 👍✌️🤙
@gboy888 I see that, but I think they want to “test the water first”, and see how a Mad Max game would sell, with less money invested (which is fair)
Loved the game, but never finished it cause the vehichel combat and mission structure felt very repetitive.
I can see that, and totally fair..
It definitely leaves a better impression if enjoyed in shorter bursts, and not hour long sessions
Dessert Apocalyptic Batman
And that is a GOOD THING!
But yeah, now you say it, he checks all the boxes…
He is wearing black clothes, driving a crime ridden area with a cool car, in a black outfit, traumatized by his murdered family..
@@CliffhangerDK Fun game
@KnightSoulsG classic 👏🏼
Desert.
@OnionFestival-si7tr maybe his apocalyptic version of Batman likes dessert?? 😉😌
It was decent, a bit repetitive but still enjoyable... i only wished it had the fury road soundtrack.
I mean, with the magic of Spotify, the soundtrack can be fixed 😂🤪
I think a sequel would have been amazing, to really polish the formula
Such an underrated, over looked master piece! Game was surprisingly good but got lost in a sea of AAA propaganda
That, and also, Warner Brothers sent this game out to die… Releasing the same day as Metal Gear was a huge mistake, it didn’t give the game space to shine
Funny how nowadays players wanabes discover there was a life before them 😂
Not sure I get it? ☺️ what do you mean?
