  • My first Tamiya in 25-odd years! A lockdown project to keep me sane after I ran out of DIY, putting together a Tamiya Hornet as a knock-about RC car to simply have fun with.
A nice all-in-one package from www.modelsport.co.uk, with a nod to www.wonderlandmodels.co.uk for accessories - no affiliation, just good service I'm happy to share an appreciation of!

Great video-I appreciate it-I just had a hornet build and I’m waiting for a backup shell for it that I ordered on eBay-I figured I’d get a spare in case I destroy the one I have-Hope you’re enjoying this magnificent RC car!

Save the 540 can for a Grasshopper build. You know you're gonna do one. Then when you get hooked consider a programmable transmitter with 10 memory slots.

I've a friend with a Grasshopper he built in the 90s who's finally got it running again, the 540's a good drop for him so this doesn't walk all over it!

There’s a chance you used some screws meant for the rears while putting together the fronts. Might have caused the fowling.

Very nice build , but I can't understand why you painted the trimmed the Lexan body afterwards.seems like maybe it could be harmful to chipping away the paint at the cut lines. I always trim the Lexan then give it a wash with warm soapy water and let air-dry before painting. But each to their own and yes it has come out beautiful. Enjoy mate. The Tamiya Hornet is an iconic piece of RC car history.❤️👌

Good time lapse build, but your (vocal) audio is barely distinguishable, turn it up a little next time ;)

Which speed controller did you use? I need one and have no idea which to get or what to look for…!

It was the ESC that came with the kit, the Tamiya TBLE-02S I think - works with this brushed motor in the Hornet.
